In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Lael Stone, speaker, educator, and author of Own Your Story. And let me tell you this conversation felt like a big exhale.

Habits to get organised with Executive Function expert Amanda LeCaude

This week on The Habit Nerd, I had such a valuable conversation with Amanda LeCaude, an Executive Function expert who helps students (and their parents!) develop the skills they need to stay organised, manage their time, and build independence.

We talked about something that comes up so often with parents — how do I help my child get organised without micromanaging them?

Amanda shared so many practical ideas, from setting up family calendars and after-school routines, to using analog clocks to help kids actually see time, not just read it.

One of my favourite takeaways was Amanda’s reminder that kids learn best through experience even when that means making mistakes. As parents, it’s tempting to step in and fix things, but giving children space to struggle and problem-solve builds real executive function skills.

We also explored how curiosity can be a powerful tool for connection. Instead of telling kids what to do, ask questions like, “What’s your plan for getting that done?” or “What’s been tricky about this part?” These small shifts can make a huge difference in helping them take ownership.

Habits for staying well at work - my turn to be the guest with Ange Davies from ‘Work and Wellness’

I opened up about my personal experience with chronic fatigue and how it completely shifted the way I think about energy.

Special Episode - The low point that led to my biggest breakhrough

Hi Habit Nerds 👋

This episode is a little different — it’s just me, sharing the story behind The Habit Nerd.

Back in 2020, like so many of us, I was trying to do it all. Full-time work, parenting two kids, and studying for my doctorate… all during a global pandemic. On the outside I kept going, but inside I was completely overwhelmed.

The turning point came when I finally hit pause. That moment of reflection led me to dig into the research I knew and loved, and to start applying it in my own life. Those evidence-based strategies helped me manage my energy, graduate early from my Doctor of Education program, and most importantly, be more present for my daughters.

Out of that season, The Habit Nerd was born. The framework I now teach, balancing productivity and wellbeing, and focusing on what truly matters, came directly from this experience.


This isn’t just my story, it’s the foundation for why I’m so passionate about helping others build habits that support both their success and their wellbeing.
