Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) is a water sport where you stand on a large, stable board and use a long paddle to move through the water. It’s like a mix of surfing and canoeing, but with the added stability of the board allowing you to stand up and get a great view of your surroundings.
o Moseley is a 59 year old single Mum of two grown up sons, who lives on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. After a difficult menopause, losing her own Mum and a knee injury, Jo was looking for something new to help heal her leg and lift her spirits. When she stood up for the first time on a paddleboard on Derwentwater in the Lake District on 24 September 2016, she immediately fell in love with SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding). “I felt like a warrior not a worrier for the first time in ages!” she recalls. In 2019, aged 54, Jo became the first woman to paddleboard 162 miles coast to coast across northern England. She was picking up litter and fundraising. A film about her adventure called Brave Enough - A Journey Home to Joy was released in 2021 and screened at prestigious adventure film festivals and online. Since then Jo has written two bestselling books about beautiful places to paddleboard.
