Welcome back, everyone! Today, weโ€™re exploring an insightful study on injury rates in NCAA womenโ€™s field hockey from 2014-2015 through 2018-2019. ๐Ÿ“Š


๐Ÿ“‹ Key Findings:


โ€ข Overall Injury Rate: 6.27 injuries per 1000 athlete exposures (AEs).

โ€ข Competition vs. Practice: Higher injury rate in competitions (10.70 per 1000 AEs) than in practices (4.93 per 1000 AEs).

โ€ข Common Injury Locations: Head & face (16%) and thigh (12.3%).

โ€ข Common Injury Types: Concussions (8.6%) and ankle sprains.

โ€ข Injury Mechanisms: Equipment contact was the most common cause (30%).

โ€ข Division Differences: Division I had the lowest injury rate (4.49 per 1000 AEs), while Division III had the highest (9.18 per 1000 AEs).

โ€ข Season Segments: No significant differences, but preseason injuries fluctuated over the years.
