63. How to say yes without it becoming an always yes...

Ever told yourself, “I’ll just have one…” and halfway through that little voice kicks in telling you “you’ve ruined it now, so what’s the point?” only for you to demolish the whole pack
Or maybe you’ve felt that hum of panic after saying yes to a food you used to avoid that leaves you wondering why food still feels so loud in your head, even when you’re trying to “just be normal” around it

You want to be able to say yes to food and actually enjoy it, stop when you’ve had enough and not spend the rest of the night thinking about it

You also want to feel like you can say no and move on with your day knowing you can have it at any time…not have the food CALLING to you for the rest of the day
You want to trust yourself

But right now, every yes feels risky and every no feels restrictive. So how do you find that ability to just take or leave the food without a second thought either way?
That’s exactly what this episode unpacks: the difference between the kinds of yeses and nos you make with food and how to start moving from fear and control toward the kind of calm, grounded self-trust that makes food just feel like food again, not a constant battle

Secret listener bonus:
There’s a question below, the answer to which is revealed in this episode

DM me your answer on Instagram before Thursday 6th November and I’ll send you a special discount code for this round of Beyond the Plate and BTP VIP before doors close

The question:

What kind of “yes” is rooted in trust, permission and respect for your body and your needs?

61. What happens when you resist food

Ever feel like you’re constantly fighting food?

You tell yourself to resist, to stay strong, to distract yourself, but the harder you try, the louder the food noise gets. Until you cave, and it feels like you can’t stop. And then back you go around the cycle of resisting and overeating…

You’re so not alone!

In this episode, I’m breaking down what’s actually happening in your brain when you try to resist food and why that resistance is the VERY thing keeping you stuck in the all-or-nothing cycle

If you’ve ever thought “I can’t be trusted around chocolate,” or felt like food is always on your mind, this one’s going to land deep. Because it’s not about willpower, it’s about what’s underneath the noise.

Tune in to hear what really happens when you resist food, what your cravings are trying to tell you, and how to start quieting the chaos without restriction, guilt, or fighting to keep your favourite foods out the house.

And if you are ready to learn how to shift your eating patterns from the root so you can feel in control around food in a way that lasts without food controlling you...

Message me "BTP" on Instagram now and I'll get you added to the waitlist for this round of Beyond the Plate, my 6 week program to teach you exactly that (waitlisters are the only ones who will be getting exclusive discounts and access to free limited 1:1 bonuses if they join so even if you're just thinking about it...get yourself on the waitlist!)

60. The biggest MYTH about your mindless eating

Ever found yourself halfway through the M&Ms or the Biscoff spread jar before you even realise what you’re doing and then wonder, why do I keep doing this?

Feel like you’re on the search for something after dinner but you don’t quite know why and you can NEVER just stop at one?

If yes, let me just say, you’re NOT broken. You’re also not weak...

But you HAVE been taught this one myth that’s keeping you stuck in the same eating cycle over and over again feeling all the more frustrated at yourself and wishing the food noise and mindless eating would just stop

59. “If I stop dieting, I’ll lose control”: the fear keeping you stuck

Have any of these ever crossed your mind?

“If I wasn’t dieting, I’d just eat whatever I want, whenever I want”

“I want to stop restricting, but I’m scared I won’t stop eating”

“If I brought chocolate in the house, I’d just eat the whole lot”

If so, you are not alone…

But that fear is driving a wedge between you and a world where you are completely chill and trusting of yourself with all foods

It keeps food noise on full volume, drives you round and round between restriction and bingeing and leaves you hating or criticising yourself and your body on repeat

So in this ep, I’m breaking down:
💭 Why this fear feels so real (and why it’s not your fault)
🥐 What’s actually happening in your body and brain when you restrict or diet
🔑 How to start breaking free from restrictive patterns and diet culture rules DESPITE this fear so you can build lasting self-trust and be totally chill around food

If you’ve ever feared that letting go of control means spiraling forever more, this episode is about to show you another way forward

Press play and let’s start dismantling the fear that keeps you stuck

And if you don’t want to keep figuring this out on your own, I’m opening two spots for 1:1 coaching this month - apply here

58. Why laziness doesn’t exist (and what’s happening instead)

Have you ever told yourself, “I’m just too lazy”…

Too lazy to meal prep, too lazy to exercise, too lazy to cook something decent, too lazy to stick to things…

And then what follows is that wave of self-criticism, disappointment and shame that leaves you frustratedly annoyed at yourself, comforting eating or just sacking it off entirely

If YES… here’s what I need you to know

Laziness doesn’t actually exist

And what you’ve been calling laziness is something entirely different which until you can name, you’ll stay stuck in cycles of shame, “screw it” spirals and feeling hopeless about ever changing

In this episode, we’ll unpack:

  • Why calling yourself lazy shuts down change and keeps you stuck
  • What’s really happening underneath the behaviours you blame on “laziness”
  • The compassionate reframe that helps you move from shame into curiosity (and lasting change & food freedom)

If you’re enjoying the pod, please leave a rating or review to push it out to others or share with someone you know will benefit!

And if you’re ready to transform the way you think, feel and behave around food, yourself and your body so you can finally feel completely calm and trusting without needing to diet again...

57. Q&A - Making satisfaction a staple in your life

If you’ve tried the “clean eating”, the calorie counting and you know you can follow rules like it’s nobody’s business but you still feel like you’re trying to FIGHT yourself when it comes to food (or you really can’t ever stop thinking about food)

Willpower is NOT your problem. But rather the fact you are lacking in genuine satisfaction when it comes to your eating.

This week’s episode is a following on from last week’s where I’m answering all your burning questions about satisfaction.

  • How do I balance what I truly want to eat with what my body needs?
  • How do I know if I’m eating emotionally or eating for satisfaction?
  • What if the food that satisfies me isn’t “healthy”?
  • And what if I don’t even know what satisfies me anymore?

This is your permission slip to stop white-knuckling your way through cravings and start learning how satisfaction can bring calm, trust, and genuine freedom to your eating…

And if you’re ready to leave the world of food noise, constant obsession with your eating and on again/off again patterns with food and step into a place where nourishment comes naturally to you even on the most stressful weeks - my 1:1 coaching is where we make it happen ⬇️

56. Why you're still in the cupboards after dinner

Do you ever finish a meal only to find yourself back in the cupboards 20 minutes later, searching for something else? Feel like you’re always thinking about food? Does 1 biscuit turn into 7 biscuits before you know it?

If you’re answer to any of those was “err…..YES” then this is the episode for you because I’m breaking down one of the biggest things missing when it comes to your eating and your relationship with food and how to support the sustainable way…

…so you’re NOT left feeling like despite tracking calories, despite swapping in dark chocolate or keeping galaxy out the house, it’s only a matter of time before it all comes crashing down only to be left wondering if you’ll ever “get a handle on this”

55. Here's why body acceptance is NOT optional

If you’ve ever thought…

"If I accepted my body I’d just let myself go"

"There’s no way I could accept my body like this"

"I’ll be happy when I’m smaller…"

Only to feel stuck in a self-hate rut, flip flopping between dieting and overeating or constantly feeling like you’re chasing a version of body peace that never feels truly settled

This is the episode for you!!

Most of us have been sold a version of body acceptance that feels impossible, unrealistic, or scary. And it’s keeping you trapped in that same cycle of all-or-nothing eating, chasing a number on the scale, and never quite feeling at peace in your body.

In this episode, we’re unpacking what body acceptance actually means (and what it doesn’t), why it feels so out of reach, and the shifts that make true confidence and freedom with food stick...

And if you’re ready to learn how to feel fully at peace in your body and around food, details of coaching are here

54. The truth about sugar free challenges no one talks about

Have you ever promised yourself you’d “cut out sugar” only to find yourself elbow-deep in a packet of Jaffa cakes a week later?

You’re not alone and it’s not because you’re broken or addicted to sugar (even if it feels that way)

In this episode, I’m unpacking the recent buzz around a fitness influencer’s “sugar-free challenge” and why those all-or-nothing approaches almost always backfire.

More importantly, I’ll show you what to do instead if you feel like you can’t trust yourself around chocolate, sweets, or sugary foods...

We’ll dive into:

  • Why cutting out foods feels so appealing but is happening the opposite effect you want it to long-term
  • The mistakes you’re making if you’ve ever tried to “allow” that trigger food back in that leave you feeling like cutting it out is your only option
  • The essential skills you need to actually build freedom and self-trust with food (without endless dieting, avoiding sugar or willpower games)

If you’re tired of feeling like sugar (or any food) has power over you, this episode will help you understand the real work of quieting the noise and how to finally step off the all-or-nothing rollercoaster

And if you're ready for support in ending the battle with food & your body so you can enjoy holidays without fearing you're going to be back at square one and your brain can just be quiet for LIFE, my coaching was made for you👇🏻

53. Why self compassion feels impossible some days (and what to do about it)

You know those days where your brain just won’t let up? Where you’re being hard on yourself, even though you know it's making the whole thing feel worse and yet you just can't stop?

You’ve been learning, unlearning, trying to be kinder to yourself… but somehow you’re right back in the spiral of self-criticism, guilt, chaos around food or body image and you can’t shake it.

This episode is about those days. Why they happen. What’s really going on. And how to respond in a way that actually helps, even when compassion feels TOTALLY out of reach so you can halt the spiral WAY sooner and not feel like you’re walking eggshells when it comes to food or your body.

And if you're ready to stop getting stuck in these same cycles, where food thoughts, guilt and body shame hijack your day no matter how much you keep telling yourself "I should know better by now" - 1:1 coaching is where we free you from that for GOOD by understanding and rewriting your body story ⬇️

52. Is this why you keep spiralling with food?

Ever had one of those days where you ate a bit more, or differently than usual, maybe some buffet food, a brownie, a few handfuls of crisps and suddenly you’re spiralling? Telling yourself you’ve messed everything up, that you’re greedy, that you have no self control?

You promise to “get back on track,” maybe even redownload MyFitnessPal… again. But deep down, you’re tired of this cycle. The guilt. The shame. The constant need to fix yourself after you eat.

But what if the problem isn’t the food and it's not YOU either.
What if it’s the standards you’ve been unconsciously following...the ones that make you feel like a failure any time you’re not perfect or "healthy"?

In this episode, we unpack the hidden reason behind these spirals or guilt driven patterns with your eating, why your relationship with food feels so fragile, and how to start building one that's rooted in trust, not fear or constant "fixing"

If you’ve ever felt stuck between “being good” and “totally hit the f*** it button” this episode is for you so plug on in!!

If this resonates with you, please share this episode with someone who needs to hear it and don’t forget to leave a review or rating to help others find these conversations!

And if you're ready to build the type of lifelong trust with yourself that'll leave you feeling relaxed around food, at peace in your body and out of the endless diet trap for good, below is where we make that happen...

50. Gaslighting myself into burnout

I almost didn’t record today…not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because this week has been a LOT.

A rollercoaster of hormones, emotions and an invisible load I didn’t fully realise I was carrying… until I hit a wall. In this episode, I’m sharing what’s been coming up for me, from a long-awaited gynaecology appointment, to the emotional fallout that followed starting a new hormone treatment, to the honest realisation that maybe it wasn’t just the hormones after all.

This is a personal story about burnout, emotional overload and what happens when we minimise our own needs (and why we need to stop doing that).

Whether you're dealing with body image struggles, all or nothing cycles with food, or just trying to keep it all together, I hope this gives you a gentle nudge to pause, reflect and honour what you’re carrying.

In this episode:

  • The accumulation of invisible emotional, physical, and mental load
  • Why hormones might not be the only factor
  • How burnout can creep in even when you “should be fine”
  • The importance of not minimising your feelings or your needs
  • A permission slip to stop pushing through and start honouring your capacity

Enjoy! And as per usual, leave a rating or a review or share the pod with a friend you know will benefit!

49. Why you struggle to be kind to yourself

If you’ve ever tried to be kind to yourself…

To silence the nagging inner critic that’s ripping you apart in the mirror, to try eat tonight’s pizza without guilt, to tell yourself it’s okay that you didn’t nail your meals this week, that it’s completely fine the scale has gone up and it STILL didn’t land…this episode is for you.

Maybe you’ve done the affirmations, tried the “what would I say to a friend?” script, and you understand logically that beating yourself up or spiralling about this isn’t going to be helpful…and yet, that critical voice still roars back louder than ever and you end up knee deep in Ben & Jerries anyway

In this episode, I’m unpacking WHY that happens

Why self-compassion can feel fake or fragile. I’ll show you what’s really going on beneath the guilt, the body spirals, the food noise, and why forcing yourself to “just be nicer” doesn’t work (and isn’t your fault)

If you’ve felt stuck in the cycle of trying to heal your relationship with food and your body but keep getting pulled back in by panic, restriction, or self-loathing… you’re not broken. There’s a reason. And in this episode, I’ll show you what that is and where to begin instead.

Ready to finally quiet the food noise and feel at peace in your body without feeling it’s all going to fall apart as soon as someone at work tells you how much weight they’ve lost this month?

This is the deep, transformative work we do inside 1:1 coaching. We don’t just slap on affirmations, we untangle the beliefs, emotions, and patterns keeping you stuck, and build real, lasting trust in yourself around food and your body.

If you’re nodding along, feeling like this is exactly what I need, I have two spaces open this month - here’s the link!

48. Are these hidden rules keeping you stuck?

Do you ever find yourself wondering:

“Have I eaten too much?”
“Should I really be eating again today?”
“Is this… allowed?”

Even if you’ve been doing the work to eat more intuitively or repair your relationship with food or this is totally new to you, there may still be unspoken rules running in the background, shaping your choices, stirring up guilt and making you feel like you’re always one bite away from doing it “wrong” (only for food noise to ring LOUD and a spiral feel imminent)

In this episode, we’re digging into the sneaky food rules…the ones you might not even know you have. The kind that might not even sound extreme, but still hold you back.

I’ll share a personal story to show how these internalised rules can show up even when things look “normal” on the outside

Together, we’ll explore:

✨ Why so many of us don’t realise we have rules and how to spot them
✨ What’s really going on underneath the fear of breaking them
✨ How food rules are often body rules in disguise
✨ What it looks like to respond to your body with curiosity instead of control
✨ And how to start softening these rules so you can feel more freedom, trust and ease

This episode isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about becoming aware of the quiet pressures that shape how you eat and starting to let them go.

If you’ve ever felt guilty for being hungry “again,” or like you should be able to stick to a certain way of eating… this one’s for you

47. Change this to stop emotionally eating

So you’ve eaten “well” all day, then the evening hits, and suddenly you’re halfway through a tub of ben and jerries or bar of milka again and you weren’t even hungry

And now? You’re spiralling and asking yourself yet again “why do I always do this?” “Why can’t I just get it together with food”

This episode is for those exact moments when you’re stuck in the loop of emotional eating and you don’t know how to get out...

I’m breaking down:

  • What’s actually triggering your out of control eating
  • The real reason willpower isn’t working (and what to rely on instead)
  • How your reaction after you eat is the biggest reason the cycle keeps repeating
  • The subtle emotional patterns fuelling this behaviour that most people completely overlook
  • A powerful mindset shift to help you respond differently without restriction or shame

So if you’ve ever found yourself eating when you’re not even hungry and then berating yourself for it, this is the episode to help you stop battling food and start understanding what’s really going on underneath!

If you’ve ever heard me talk about the “deep work” but you’re like, what on earth does that involve?!

Or you're thinking…
“I’m done obsessing over food but I still don’t feel calm around it”

“I want to do the mindset work…but what does that even mean?”

This is the episode for you.

If you’ve spent years in the diet cycle, chasing control, and feeling like food and your body are constant battles, let me let you in to how we go about ending that so you can free yourself for good...

I’m breaking down:

  • What “the deep work” actually means
  • Why your struggles with food aren’t about the food (or your willpower)
  • How diet culture trained you to blame yourself and how we unlearn that

45. What food noise really is and why silencing it isn’t the answer

You know that mental chatter about food that just won't quit?

The voice that wakes up with you, questioning what you ate yesterday, calculating what you’re "allowed" to eat today, whispering shame when you open the fridge (again) even when you’re not hungry?
That’s food noise.

And if this feels like your everyday reality...if food feels like a full-time job in your head...this episode is for you!

We are stripping away the buzzword fluff and marketing hype to talk about what food noise actually is, where it comes from, and most importantly, how to support it in a way that creates real, lasting peace with food.

We’re diving deep into:

  • What food noise actually is (hint: it’s not just hunger or cravings)

  • Why stopping the noise or quick fixes like appetite suppressants don’t solve food noise

  • How rules, shame, and control keep you stuck

  • What it really takes to quiet the noise for good

We’ll explore:

  • Why "falling off track" isn’t failure

  • How perfectionism disguises itself as discipline
