Penelope Spada è stata un magistrato che non si piegava, che voleva la verità ad ogni costo. Poi qualcosa si è rotto ed è dovuta uscire dalla magistratura per un motivo che ancora non conosciamo. Ciò che sappiamo però è che adesso la sua vita è molto più complicata perché si è dovuta inventare una nuova professione, una nuova identità e… non sa neanche lei se è la cosa giusta. Un bar come ufficio, uno sbirro come confidente e un giornalista che le porta un caso di giustizia mancata innescano questo primo… “caso”. Sì, perché da fuori Penelope potrebbe essere scambiata per una detective privata, ma lei è la prima a non dare peso alle categorie. Mario Rossi, il primo cliente, sostiene di non aver ucciso la propria moglie. Il processo si è concluso per insufficienza di prove ma lui vuole che venga fatta giustizia. Vuole essere scagionato.  Penelope si lascia convincere dall’amico giornalista e poi si appassiona al caso. Scoprirà un caleidoscopio di mancate certezze e rivelazioni impreviste e imprevedibili.
