This week's mini episode is a sneak peek into how I quit my 9-5 job to become a Menstrual Cycle Coach and some of the highs and lows along the way.
I quit my corporate job working in the arts and creative industries in December 2023 with no back-up plan and since then I've been building up my coaching business, as well as finding other streams of income (such as part-time work) that can support me.
I want to be raw and honest about some of the challenges I've faced, as well as the rewards! A big part of my decision to leave 9-5 work was realising how much I was trading my valuable time and energy to prop up and support a system that continually exploits people.
From a Menstrual Cycle Awareness lens, I realised that this work and system was never going to fully allow me to live in sync with my menstrual cycle, or build a life focussed around my own values and desires to help and support people without compromising huge parts of myself and the way I want to live.

In this week's episode I invite you to revisit your first period (Menarche).
You might be thinking, what's the point or relevance in me doing this when it was so long ago?
Well...as a Menstrual Cycle Coach and Facilitator, I'm here to tell you it's a super important piece of the puzzle when it comes to building a better relationship with your periods and your menstrual cycle as an adult!
The arrival of a first period will have been different for each of us but the way it was either welcomed or pushed aside will have set the tone and shaped your menstrual experiences going forward.
So until you question and challenge these beliefs, they continue to dictate the kind of relationship you have with our periods, menstrual cycles, body and ultimately with yourself.

This week's episode is all about Exploring Your Inner Child!
Let's face it...we're all still the child versions of ourselves, we're just wearing "grown-up" costumes!
Exploring my inner child has been a big part of my journey over the past year or so. For a long time I felt really disconnected from her...I forgot what she liked doing, what made her feel safe and comforted, the music she liked listening to, the games she played and the dreams she had.
I'd forgotten who I was before the world told me to be so many other things and made me feel like I couldn't be myself. Maybe you can relate?
Reconnecting with my inner child has been really difficult at times. I realised there were lots of hard things I brushed under the carpet. At the same time, there was so much joy and treasure waiting to be rediscovered!
This episode is here to prompt and invite you to explore your inner child in a gentle and kind way that feels right for you.

Making this episode made my heart feel so full! When I invited my guest Roisin McLaughlin to come on the podcast, I knew it would be a great conversation but I didn’t anticipate just how SPECIAL it would be.
In our discussion, we dive into everything from overcoming chronic health issues, herbal medicine, hormones, the menstrual cycle, exploring emotions and our shared appetite for the more spiritual side of life!
All I can say is that Roisin is full of wisdom, knowledge and deep insights about so many different aspects of health.
Roisin is a Herbalist, Therapist and Coach, who has over 30 years experience in the healthcare profession and she is passionate about helping people to improve their health and their lives. She is trained in Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, EFT, NLP, Hypnotherapy and Coaching. She uses her experience and skills in all of these specialisms to craft tailor made treatment programmes for each of her clients.
She works with people suffering a wide range of chronic physical and mental health conditions, but has a specific interest in women presenting with hormonal imbalance such as PMDD, PMS, PCOS, Endometriosis and perimenopause.

I'm backkkkk! Hi everyone, thanks for all the LOVE you have sent my way and for everyone who has listened to Bitter Strawberries so far!
I've had some beautiful conversations about different episodes with people and it's reconnected me with lots of people from my past (in a good way!), which I'm very grateful for and I've also made some new and exciting connections.
The episodes have been a bit ad-hoc to date BUT I'm stepping into Spring/Summer 2024 with a renewed energy and optimism to switch up the format and keep spreading the message about emotional health - no doubt with a special focus on the menstrual cycle because that's what I know BEST!
My plan for now is to do some shorter, more spontaneous weekly podcast episodes followed by bi-monthly episodes centred around more in-depth and specific topics, which will also feature some amazing guests. I can't wait!
So let me be the soundtrack to your spring/summer and all the seasons ahead. This is the place to get your emotions seen, felt and heard - no small talk allowed!
In this episode, I cover...

This episode was such an exciting one to make! I had the most beautiful, funny, honest, raw and open conversation with someone who is a huge inspiration to me - the amazing Josephine Knechtli!
Josephine is a Rapid Transformational Therapist and Coach, who has been on her own rollercoaster journey with acute mental health, PMDD, late diagnosed Autism and ADHD.
We talk about everything from labels and low self-esteem to hypnotherapy, menstrual cycles, the nervous system - and SO much more!
I did RTT with Josephine in 2023 and I was completely blown away by the results! I credit the work Josephine and I did together as playing a huge part in radically changing my life for the better and I truly believe it has the potential to do the same for other people.
If you’ve experienced PMDD, poor mental and emotional health, hit rock bottom or you’re feeling lost and don’t know where to go next - this is the podcast episode for you! We go deep and we don’t hold back so if you want to be a fly on the wall and hang out with us for an hour (and a half!) then be our guest.

In today's episode, I share an article I wrote back in the summer titled 'The Worst Witch: The Magic and Poison of Growing Up in an All Girls' School.'
From the ages of 11-18 I attended an all girls' state grammar school. Over the past year, I've reflected a lot on how growing up in such a competitive and gendered environment has affected me.
This episode is for anyone socialised as a girl or woman who has never felt "good-enough." I hope it gives you reassurance, strength and comfort.

In this episode, I welcome my first VERY special guest (and my friend) to the podcast - Ciara Duddy! Ciara is the founder of Walk Lighter, a support group for people who have been bereaved by suicide.
Ciara sadly lost her dad to suicide in 2021 and in struggling to find the right support after his death, she created Walk Lighter. Walk Lighter is an informal monthly support group meeting in Paisley (near Glasgow) at Barshaw Park. People are invited to grab a coffee and walk with those who are experiencing the same confusion, heartache and fears.
Ciara's journey and desire to help others has been a huge inspiration to me. Her honesty and warmth shine through in everything she does and we both share a strong belief in looking after your emotional health and healing through human connection. This conversation meant so much to me and I'm so excited to share it. I have no doubt that anyone who has been affected by suicide or grief will find comfort in Ciara's words.
