What you gain when you give up alcohol with Psychotherapist Rachel Gordon

Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with Rachel Gordon. Rachel is an actor and a psychotherapist. Her practice is called Freedom Psychotherapy with a specialty in addiction, anxiety, substance dependence, relationships, grief and loss. Her mission is to walk beside her clients in a heart centered, trauma informed, holistic way while helping them to rediscover their authentic self, find purpose and have meaningful, fulfilling relationships.

Rachel and I discuss sobriety. Rachel has been sober for 25 years and she came into my life at a time when I was considering quitting drinking but I didn’t know how or if I even could honestly since drinking is so ingrained in my life between work and social activities.  And when I spoke to Rachel about it, in a way only Australians can do so beautifully, she encouraged me to give it a go and if I don’t like being sober, then just drink again and it wouldn’t matter.

So I’m sober now 6 months later (which might be a surprise to those who know me). Maybe I’ll drink again, maybe I won’t, but there is a freedom in knowing that I don’t need alcohol in my life.

This conversation is for anyone interested in sobriety, whether there is problem drinking involved or not, or even if you know someone who has gone alcohol-free or is struggling with addiction. The episode may support a shift in perspective, which is what this podcast is all about.

Today’s episode is with Charlotte and Mark from Spirit Spill the Tea podcast.  This conversation is a glimpse inside their new podcast that I know you will all love. In this episode, we speak about a trip we took to India to see Sri Sakthi Amma, known as Amma, who is an esteemed spiritual leader in India. Ep. 24: Holistic Pelvic Care with Miranda Cheng, Founder of We the Femme

It is a real pleasure to have an episode talking about pleasure and pelvic bowl health. Today’s conversation is with Miranda Cheng, Holistic Pelvic Care practitioner and Founder of We the Femme.  We talk about the importance of caring for your pelvic floor and new, maybe less traditional ways to do so.  What Miranda is doing is really game-changing in the pelvic care industry. I am predicting this type of holistic health care is something that is going to blow up, especially for those pre and postnatal or vulva owners who are experiencing any challenges when it comes to anything that has to do with our cycles, uterus, all the things, which I guess we all experience.

In the episode, we talk about what a session with her is like, which can or cannot include an intravaginal massage which is exactly what it sounds like, she gives some tips for you at home for you to show a little bit more love to your pelvis. She even ends with a Pelvic bowl meditation.  This is a pretty eye opening conversation.

Sneak peek nside the episode

  • 4:15: Why is the health and wellness of your pelvic floor so important?

  • 6:41: How did she even get into a field of holistic pelvic care

  • 13:45: What is holistic pelvic care?

  • 16:50: What a holistic pelvic care session with Miranda look like. (I share my experience)

  • 27:33: Specific cases where holistic pelvic care is helpful

  • 32:43: Top tips for you to support pelvic care at home

  • 33:51: How to bring your awareness down to your sexual organs and self-check your pelvic floor

  • 40:00 Fembodiment Institute by Jenn Mears

  • 46:36: Pelvic bowl meditation with Miranda

Ep. 11: Real Manifesting is Losing to Gain with Phi Dang

The topic of today’s episode is losing in order to gain. This is a more advanced spiritual and manifestation discussion. We talk about what manifesting actually looks like. There has to be loss in order to make space in your life for the things you want to manifest. In the manifestation world, you tend to not hear about the difficulties you may experience when parts of your life fall away for you to get to the next level.  We tend to not speak about the grieving of your old life when you are welcoming the new. And this is exactly what we talk about today.

Mentioned in the episode:

  • What losing to gain means and could look like in love, work, friendships
  • Theories on the universe
  • When you are manifesting, the universe will test you.
  • Thoughts on Free Will sparked by Sam Harris
  • "every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. and, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. it really is the most poetic thing i know about physics: you are all stardust.“ - Lawrence M. Krauss, American physicist 1954

Ep. 10: Reinventing your life by default or by design with Tricia Spitz

On today’s show, I have Tricia Spitz who is launching her own podcast because she is passionate about the fact that anyone can transform their lives. She knows it because she’s done it. Tricia has had a previous life where she was in a domestically abusive relationship, which she left and reinvented her life some time ago. She is a strong believer that if she can come out of that and entirely transform her life into the happy life she has today, that anyone can do it. It’s about taking the leap of faith. We talk about all ways of reinvention, internally or externally, small or large, when you have to do it vs when you want to do it. Enjoy the episode.

Mentioned in the episode:

  • Reinventing or transforming your life by default or by design
  • Blaming yourself for your current circumstances and having shame in it which leads you to remaining in a terrible situation
  • We speak to both having single moms who had to reinvent their lives post divorce
  • On purpose: everyone’s on the hunt for it, but are you already living it without realizing it?
