It's true. I really don't. And it's the best feeling ever!

Learning how to listen to your body will be the most important skill you can acquire in order to help you lower your blood sugar and A1C...if you're open to it that is. This whole concept can sound like a bunch of "hocus pocus" or "hippie-dippie crap" that would not work for you... but have you tried it? NO? Okay, then you really can't say that it doesn't work!
But really, be open to new ideas and learn as much as you can about your body! It will only help you reach that A1C goal even sooner!

If you think diet alone will help you lower your A1C consistently...think again...
Yes, diet is very important but so is everything else you're doing to your body and mind. This episode talks a little bit about what other things I did to even start my journey with prediabetes. I think this episode might be the most important one yet!
Keep an open mind (as always) and let's get to work!

So, you have diabetes type 2, what are you supposed to do when you are surrounded by sweets treats and other delicious foods at family gatherings and holiday parties??
Should you skip your regular meals so you can fit all your carbs allowance in later?

Are you feeling FRUSTRATED and CONFUSED during the holidays because it seems like everywhere you look, there are things your doctor told you to avoid?
This new podcast episode will show you how to enjoy your holidays dinner with diabetes without having to give up your favorite treat!

This is not a new topic perse, but it is a good one to return to with a deeper dive now that I had my own personal experience with it. Since I would not want anyone to eliminate all things they love even with their chronic condition, I would not want that for myself either. So, I went on to enjoy the usual desserts that I would have during the holidays to see how that would affect my A1C...
As you all know, my result came back positive (the good kind of positive!). I lowered my A1C from 5.7% to 5.4% even with all the yummy treats I was able to enjoy. And if I can do it, then you can do it too! But how you asked?
I answer this in great detail in this episode that you're about to listen to... So, let's find out!

Now that you've learned what part of your diet could be causing your insulin resistance, it's time to apply that knowledge!
In this week's episode, we're going through my own diet and pinpointing exactly what I changed and how I navigated that change. Realizing that any changes will not be the right fit for you or your body will help you keep an open mind before going into this episode. What was conveyed in this were merely my own experiences that led to my results. Please consult your health care providers before starting any diet changes to make sure that it is safe for you.
With that said, I invite you to take a journey with me through the first 6 weeks of my insulin resistance/PCOS nutrition process and learn how I dropped my A1C to normal range (and lost 4 lbs!).

In this episode, we are discussing the relationship between your current diet and insulin resistance. You'll learn a bit more about what you might be eating now can make controlling your blood sugar more challenging. After that, you will get a little guide on what you can do instead in order to create a more suitable body environment for your blood sugar.
There are a lot of noise on what you should be eating or what 'diabetes-friendly' diet trend you should try next out there. But, your really should be able to take a step back and try to see if that trend will be what's best for your body. You don't want to try anything just to 'put a BandAid' on things, either. Getting to the root of the condition will be the best way to help you bring your A1C down and keep it there for good.

Since Spotify rolled out with a new feature called "Video Podcasts on Spotify", I wanted to share one of my recent IGTV posts here as a little extra something to get you guys through the holidays. In order to view the video, you'd have to use Spotify to play the podcast. Otherwise, I would assume that you'll still get the audio version if you are listening from other platforms. I will link the original IGTV post if you want to watch the video but are not using Spotify down below with all the other links.
In this video, I dissected an IG post from the World Health Organization's Instagram page about World Diabetes Day 2021. While the post provided some great contents to raise awareness of the condition, it can be quite misleading for a lot of people. I wanted to shed some lights on those information so we can move into the new year with a clearer image of what it means to live with diabetes, especially Type 2 Diabetes.
I hope you enjoy this extra episode and happy holidays!

Getting diagnosed with diabetes is hard enough... Now you have to learn how to use new equipment too?
It can be very overwhelming and stressful learning that you now have to live with a chronic condition. And more often than not, your physician won't have time to go over EVERYTHING about it with you at your visit. You end up with a giant diagnosis with very little information about it.
Sounds like you? - Because you're not alone!
When patients come to pick up their blood sugar meter for the first time from my pharmacy, 90% of the time they'd tell me that their doctor has never mentioned how to use it with them.
That's why this episode can be an important tool if you are new to this.
In this episode you'll learn…
So, if you want to find clarify and better understanding of your new machine so you don't have to feel so stressed out anymore…

One of the most popular questions when it comes to living with Type 2 Diabetes is how to manage your morning blood sugar. This reading is usually higher for some individuals. Many people will offer you "fixes" such as ask your doctor to increase your medications doses or don't eat after 7 pm... But what you should be focusing on is WHY you're experiencing this?
Understanding your condition will be the first step in actually living with it rather than just trying to put a bandage on it.
What you might be seeing is what we described as the Dawn Phenomenon where your blood sugar is just a bit higher around the 'dawn' period (5 am - 8 am). Okay, that's great to know... but what can you do about it?
That is what this episode will cover! Listen in to the full episode to learn more about your condition and the right way to go about it.

To Snack, or Not to Snack, That is the question.
I guess the real question here is what to snack on when you want to snack if you have type 2 diabetes?
Or maybe the actual question is can you even snack if you have type 2 diabetes?
Confusing right?...
…Yeah, me too.
I never used to snack when I was growing up. It was not a thing in a third world country. People barely have enough food to eat at lunches and dinners, let alone adding a snack. My parents actually forbid my sister and I from eating "junk-food" before our meals so we don't ruin our appetite. It is important for us to always finish all our food because wasting even a single drop of rice is sinful. I'd be so full after my regular meals that I never even thought about eating anything else in between!
But when I got to America… snacking was very encouraged and throwing food away if you don't finish your meal is perfectly ok…
A very different view on things indeed.
So no wonder that most Americans, including clients with type 2 diabetes, are struggling so hard with cravings and wanting to snack. It's not anyone's faults…
It is simply the culture.
Your brain is wired to want to snack and it is used to the enhanced flavors of these yummy "junk-food".
Cutting out all snacks cold-turkey is probably not the best option if you're trying to avoid junk foods. This will actually increase your cravings for them even more and you might go down a binge rabbit hole if you are deprived for too long.
… But how can you "fix" this then? How can you go from living in a "snacking-world" to trying to reduce junk foods so you can help lower your blood sugar?
I reveal *exactly* HOW you can do that in this episode along with:

If your answer is "Yes", then you are not alone!
It does not matter if you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for a long time or just yesterday, you probably know that it is a serious health condition that you worry about. It would be nice if you can finally shed that constant worry - worry if your blood sugar went up after what you just ate, worry that your A1C is not at goal, or worry that you might not be around for your loved ones…
You probably have heard/read about the many ways that others sources claim to help you reverse type 2 diabetes. You might have tried all those ways but you're still wondering if that is enough to truly bring down that A1C and keep it there.
There are so many posts on social media about what food lowers your blood sugar and what food raises it.
But here's the TRUTH:
Everything you eat raises your blood sugar! The only difference is how fast each type of food will raise it. The only exception to this is meat - which do not contain any carbohydrate so in theory, they cannot raise your blood sugar alone - but that does not mean your blood sugar won't go up after eating them.
So instead of focusing so much on the WHAT, you should be focusing on the HOW. This is crucial if you want to lower your A1C to normal range and keep it there consistently.
And to master the HOW, you'll need to tap into your mindset to really change your behavior.
In today's episode, Dr. Promlap will go over how you can create a long-lasting behavior change that will put you one step closer into lowering that A1C for good as well as:

If only type 2 diabetes was your only pain in the neck…
More often than not, when you are living with type 2 diabetes, you are also living with its favorite friend - hypertension. Wouldn't it be great if they both get the hint that they are not welcomed in your house and leave?
But if you are living with type 2 diabetes, its friend - hypertension - might be hanging around passed its welcomed time…
Your goal with type 2 diabetes is often to lower your blood sugar to normal range and maybe also to reduce the number of medications that you take. Even though these are great goals, you might also want to think about other co-conditions with type 2 diabetes.
A lot of the time, if you have type 2 diabetes, you might also have high blood pressure.
It is important to look at your health holistically when taking care of your diabetes in order to reach the most optimized benefits. And that will include taking care of any other co-conditions you might have such as high blood pressure.
Listen in to today's episode to learn how to continue to take care of your own health the right way when you are living with both type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

In this week's episode, we are re-visiting an oldie but a goodie topic - The Keto Diet. This popular diet has been mentioned numerous times on multiple diabetes accounts/groups as a go-to diet for any one who is diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. While reducing carbohydrates seem to be the obvious choice when thinking about lowering your blood sugar, it can bring you some unexpected results.
Most people are aware of the well-known Keto Diet in regards to weight loss and reducing blood sugar. But did you know that the Keto Diet (or the Classical Ketogenic Diet) is actually designed to help prevent seizure? This high fat low carbohydrates diet forces the body to break down fat for energy instead of glucose (sugar). Since glucose is the main source of energy for your brain, the Keto Diet helps regulate the amount of sugar in the brain and in turn helps control seizure.
Knowing that, what can you do to actually lower your blood sugar instead? Listen in to find out!
