What if burnout isn’t just physical — but the erosion of our ability to think clearly?
Guest: Dr. Travis Corcoran – author of Restoring Reason, founder of Top Chiro, builder of 30+ chiropractic clinics in recipient of the Sherman College Service Award, and a proud Delta Sigma Chi brother.
In this deep dive, Dr. Travis Corcoran brings the Trivium — grammar, logic, and rhetoric — into the healing space for exhausted providers. He offers a powerful framework for rebuilding the mind as the foundation for restoring health and freedom. This is a masterclass in emotional digestion, intellectual self-defense, and reclaiming your inner terrain.
Grammar: The structure of knowledge. Just because something is edible doesn’t mean it’s nutritious — and just because data exists doesn’t make it true. Grammar is the input we must learn to digest properly.
Logic: Understanding is internal. Logic is the power source of the mind, the digestion of data into meaning. “True understanding is not your perspective or emotion — it is what can stand up to objection.”
Rhetoric: Wisdom is the ethical expression of correct knowledge and understanding. How we communicate truth reflects our intellectual integrity.
Emotions are indicators, not decisions.
You can evade critical thinking, but not the consequences of not thinking.
The nervous system stores unprocessed inputs — trauma, ideas, shame — and it changes how we relate to truth.
Most people are reacting from emotional habit, not conscious logic.
The Trivium gives you intellectual weapons. You cannot protect your health if you cannot defend your mind.
Chronic cognitive dissonance erodes your nervous system’s adaptability and your life’s trajectory.
“The ultimate self-defense is the defense of the mind.”
People chase titles to feel safe, but lose themselves in roles.
Ask: Do I identify with the values of an image, or the title itself?
Rationality = conformity to reality.
You cannot destroy the ego, but you must wield it with integrity and awareness.
What would life look like if I was no longer a slave to my emotions?
Am I applying what I know consciously — or unconsciously?
Where in my life am I mentally lazy — and how is that hurting those I love?

Understanding Grief & Its Impact on Exhausted Providers
In this episode of Soul Coffee, Dr. Jamal Früster welcomes grief expert and sound facilitator, TC Chicago, to unpack the often-overlooked emotional weight carried by healthcare providers, business owners, and caregivers. Grief isn’t just about death—it’s about any significant change or loss, and recognizing this truth is crucial for maintaining mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
🔥 Key Takeaways for the Exhausted Provider:
The Reality of Grief: It’s not just about loss but any disruption in your patterns, your practice, relationships, or even faith.
The Silent Weight of Providers: Many healthcare professionals suppress their emotions to "show up" for others, leading to burnout and emotional detachment.
The Power of Movement & Rituals: Grief must be processed through the body! Breathwork, yoga, and daily rituals help move stuck emotions.
Self-Awareness & Emotional Truth: Early childhood experiences shape how we handle grief. Acknowledging this can lead to more effective healing.
The Importance of Community: No one should navigate grief alone—building a support system is crucial, especially for providers who are used to carrying others.
Episode 100 is a celebration of presence, performance, and powerful frameworks. Dr. Jamal Früster sits down with Coach Taylor to explore what it really means to be an “efficient workhorse” in a world that glamorizes burnout. They lay a blueprint for high-performing humans seeking to thrive while minimizing burnout.
Together, they unpack:
• Why efficiency is nervous system-led, not time-led
• The Bio-Psycho-Social Framework of Performance
• How adaptability (not hustle) is the new superpower • The silent cost of output without regulation
• Tools to upgrade your energy, clarity, and capacity
This episode is a call to high performers, mental athletes, educators, healthcare professionals, and providers to redefine excellence as well as success from the inside out.
"When it comes to life, all we have is our perception of it." - Pradaini Surva @Pradainisurva
In this reflective episode from the end of last year, Dr. Jamal hosts Dr. Chris Lee and artist Donnie in Naples, Florida, for a rich conversation about the importance of slowing down, making intentional choices, and embracing creativity as a pathway to self-discovery and healing. The trio discusses lessons learned from their personal journeys, the significance of relationships, and the role of art and reflection in navigating life’s challenges.
Key Discussion Points:
The Necessity of Slowing Down: Both Dr. Jamal and Dr. Chris highlight the importance of slowing down to recalibrate, especially in high-demand roles. Overworking can lead to physical and emotional burnout.
Perception and Awareness: The concept that life’s experiences are shaped by our perceptions and reflections emphasizes the need for mindful self-awareness.
Neurological Limits: Recognizing the signs of stress—such as overthinking or physical exhaustion—and addressing them before burnout occurs.
Intentional Relationships: Choosing relationships and environments that align with personal values and contribute positively to one’s growth.
Delegation and Prioritization: Delegating tasks and focusing on intentional actions rather than busyness to foster well-being and productivity.
Breaking Patterns: Identifying and letting go of outdated habits and behaviors (“snow shovels”) that no longer serve current seasons of life.
Daily Sketchbook Practice: Donnie encourages maintaining a sketchbook for self-expression, even through nonsensical doodling, as a therapeutic and introspective activity.
Art as Healing
Philosophy of Art: The Toltec philosophy of being an “artist of life” reinforces the idea that everyone has the power to create meaning and beauty in their lives.
Shadow Work: Addressing suppressed or repressed emotions to avoid being controlled by them and to foster liberation and authenticity.
Continuous Practice: Self-improvement, whether through creativity or discipline, is a lifelong journey requiring consistency and openness to change.
Reflection Exercise: Consider past, present, and future behaviors to uncover patterns and intentions driving actions.
Sketchbook as a Reflection Tool: A simple way to capture and process thoughts, emotions, and inspirations.
Holiday Challenges: Navigating the complexities of the season by practicing mindfulness and prioritizing meaningful connections.
This episode offers a blend of philosophical depth, practical tips, and heartfelt camaraderie, reminding the community to slow down, reflect, and create their own meaningful life paths.
Short, sweet and to the point! Some motivation to start off your week!
