EQ READY- Emotionally Intelligent Leaders
The Death of a CEO is Not Karmic Justice.

Emotionally Intelligent leaders must be careful not to condone violence as a substitution for problem-solving.

Karmic justice is often thought of in times like these as a suitable way to explain away impulsive, misdirected anger or resentment.

The path to solving such a multifaceted problem lies not in reactionary efforts but in careful response that requires education and dialogue with a group of dedicated advocates willing to work toward a common goal. It is how every real and lasting change in civil and or social justice last

About Men's Mental Health- Emotional Intelligence is about having awaress to take action.

The common excuses for men not embracing mental health conversations no longer justify not seeking help. Today's emotional climate requires men to have good emotional skills to navigate the life today.

When someone says "I was not raised in a house that talked of emotions" or any other reasons that men do not search out mental health..... I am always troubled. Men continue to use the same reasons for not wanting to be uncomfortable with the topic of feelings, stress, and worry. Yet it is a universal struggle that we feel daily

It is our responsibility as men to find and invest in those relationships that will help us through the hard times. No excuses

Be Uncomfortable

Much of my work is with people who have to make difficult decisions in their company, business or personal life! They want to know how to make the best decision!

How does this relate to the Emotional Intelligent leader?

Most leaders with Emotional Intelligence expect some decisions to be difficult. They are willing to be uncomfortable. It is likely that they have experienced risk, luck, and failure

They are more comfortable with being uncomfortable

I Was EQ Tested at the Drive-Thru

Yeah, I spend my days thinking about how emotional Intelligence can help you be successful at business and career achievement. I have always maintained that a person who has good EQ performs better in their social and romantic relationships and has lower stress. so really EQ helps in every aspect of life

Sometimes a test of your skills comes at times you are not expecting. I was hungry and the world said, "Let's see if this guy is really committed to what he says,

Hold My Soft Drink"

Listen to this episode to see if I passed the test, and more importantly, would you be able to pass the test?

Three words often overlooked in Emotionally Intelligence

You are probably not going to see these words a lot in podcasts about EQ. I believe that when you use them, its a sign that you are willing to display that you are Emotionally Intelligent in a way that really matters.

When these three words are used it changes the motion of the conversation, shifts power, and allows space for others to be useful. But we have to be willing to challenge the parts of us that value control and command attention to let this happen.

Listen to the episode to find out what they are

Do you ever have a moment where you just freak out? You need Emotionally Intelligent friends

It does not happen often, but a few weeks ago, I had one of those moments where I thought.

"What the hell Am I doing all of this for anyway?

What happens if it all goes wrong?

What was I thinking?

I was quickly saved from this downward spiral as I reached out to a friend to help me gain perspective.

I forgot about how great it is to talk to other business owners (outside of work)

This week was reminder of how great it is to just talk with other business owners and entrepreneurs outside of what you are doing. We are practicing emotional Intelligence when we not only relate but share with others like us what we have in common and how we struggle. THEN GUESS WHAT? THey share back, and we are reminded that we are humans who struggle together

I frequent these businesses and use them for myself so I know they will be good to you

We Never Seem to Have Enough Time

It seems like I am always in a race for time. As I read The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, I was surprised by how much I resist the idea of me owning time and using it versus not having enough.

I know that the things I resist are often what I am weak in. So let us test it and ask that you do it as well.

What was I doing at a retreat for entrepreneurs? + Positive Affirmations

In February, I attended an entrepreneurial retreat focused on the mindset and implementation of significant changes to their ways of doing business. Some of us even changed professional directions to accomplish to gain personal fulfillment.

This group of hand-selected, highly motivated humans shared  what brought them to this point in their businesses and their lives  Here are some  distinctions that I think are valuable.  All participants:

- Have high emotional Intelligence

-Are experts in the field of the human psychology  and have spent two decades treating individuals.

- Had a recent misfortune in their life that caused them to reevaluate their life and work

-. Are moving into the business or entrepreneurial space

- Viewed as suspect from others in their profession for trying to incorporate business and entrepreneurial skills into the helping profession.

- Expressed gratefulness for being with a group of like-minded individuals at this retreat.

- Voiced great importance on being able to visualize, manifest and remain optimistic of results

-Embraced an abundance (Not scarcity) mindset and believed in sharing openly all they know

Books suggested That are crucial to unblocking old negative programming of the mind

-The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks

- The Last Law of Attraction Book You'll Ever Need To Read: The Missing Key To Finally Tapping Into The Universe And Manifesting Your Desires by Andrew Kap

What followed all this learning, you ask?

a 30-day challenge to improve my thoughts and perceptions.

I recorded personal affirmations (Small sample)  dealing with areas we all struggle with. I Included  at the end of the podcast)

I would encourage you to build your own affirmations to fit your unique wants and challenges personally

Join me and lets elevate our minds together

IF there are any mental health professionals who might be interested in attending this retreat as I did. Reach out so I can get you the information.

Do you want to know how to establish relationships quickly?

Since childhood, I have been able to connect with people quickly I rarely feel out of my element and fit into most social situations. What I didn't realize then was that I was using the skills of Emotional Intelligence to connect, build, and sustain relationships.

Today's episode is about recognizing the difference between Person vs. People. I explain how this can be used to focus your relationships through Emotional Intelligence.

In the midst of tragedy, there can still be Emotional Intelligence

This month has brought much tragedy with the death of our family member.

Still, there is a reason for appreciation and gratitude for others

Emotional Intelligence can still serve us at our breaking point. We can be aware of our emotional situational awareness and remain kind and present. In doing so you provid stability and do not add additional stress to a situation.

We dedicate this episode to

1. Our family member- Our love for you is eternal

2. The staff of Methodist Hospital:  Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio TX

ER staff

Inclusivity and Diversity is Everything in Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is about RELATIONSHIPS

An interpersonal relationship is one of the five pillars of the Emotional Intelligence model (Bar-on 1997). Without the ability to seek out and start and maintain personal relationships, there is no EQ. REMEMBER when you were in school and sat at a particular table? Did you ever wish to be invited into groups or tables? We are not far removed from this need to be included even in our adulthood.

Inclusivity is the key!

Empathy is harder than you think. But there is a secret.

Empathy is one of the most talked about subjects within Emotional Intelligence.

How do we get to Empathy? One does not just arrive at Empathy. There are levels of deeper communication. Even if this is a short encounter, the relationship can still be meaningful.

The secret here is active listening.

Here is an example of levels of communication. The further you move down, the greater the use of your Emotional Intelligence and likelihood of creating positive relationships.

Hearing  You hear sounds.

Listening Something you hear has your attention, and you begin to tune in and pay attention.

Understanding cognitively, you are putting it all together

Empathy Making a genuine connection with someone on a level that you both feel

Compassion The connection is so genuine it moves you to action.

What is your Leadership Style? Hobbs vs Locke

It is easy to get lost in concepts and believe that we are mastering a high level of leadership without going far into our emotional motivations and worldview. I propose every leader is on a spectrum of  Philosophy and Psychology within leadership. I ask every leader to take inventory of how one's philosophy affects the way we lead.
