  • What’s the first earliest memory of perfectionism?
  • How has perfectionism helped me or hurt me in the past?
  • How is it trying to keep me safe with xyz?
  • What are all the good things that could happen if I didn’t care about being perfect?
  • What’s the worst that could happen?
  • Why is it SO important to do my best to be perfect?

Don't forget to enter my contest by leaving an iTunes or Spotify review! Winner to choose a beginner activity for me will be chosen on 3/31/2021!

How Perfectionism Ruins Exercise

Does perfectionism derail your exercise goals? Perfectionism leads us to:

  • Procrastinate until we feel "ready"
  • Quit due to all-or-nothing mindset
  • Obsess over linear and efficient progress
  • Scrutinize how we compare to others
  • Value performance over experience

If you fall into these behaviors, listen on to see how you can recognize these patterns.

Leave an iTunes review to enter my contest! I'll randomly select a winner to choose a new sport for me to try as a beginner! In the review, you can write about what messages resonated with you, how the show has helped you, or what kind of content you'd like to see. The winner will be chosen on 3/31/2021!

"I've fallen so far behind, I should just give up."

In this episode, I walk through more "excuses" that are common catalysts that stop our efforts towards our exercise goals, and what we can do to overcome these reasons and continue to make progress.

If my show has helped you with your exercise mindset, please leave a review on iTunes! On March 31st, 2021, I'll pick a winning review and the winner will get to choose a sport or activity for me to try and document the experience! You can leave a review on the iTunes page here.

How to Feel Less Self-Conscious at the Gym

So many folx feel self-conscious at the gym or when exercising in front of others. A lot of it stems from us not wanting to look silly or inexperienced in front of strangers. Here are my top tips to feel less self-conscious in front of others.

  • Play out the worst case scenario
  • Compare the pain/discomfort of getting out there vs. staying where you are
  • If you don't like the conditions, change them!
  • Practice with these improved conditions to gain confidence

How to Explore Past the Treadmill and Start Weightlifting with Jackie Lemus

My guest for this episode is my friend Jackie Lemus. At the end of college, she started feeling like she was feeling really uncomfortable in her skin and realized that a change needed to be made from her sedentary student obligations. So that's why she started, like a lot of us, using cardio machines at our local gyms.

Her exercise story started off with "How do I lose weight?" And it transformed into a question of "How do I get stronger? How do I increase my confidence and how do I continue to feel more powerful than I did yesterday?"

To learn how she transitioned from the cardio machines to the weight room of the gym, check out Jackie's story!

How to Keep New Year's Resolutions

Here are my top 3 tips for sticking with New Year's Resolutions around exercise!

1) Examine where is the mindset behind the goal? Is it positive loving energy? Or is it energy filled with resentment?

2) Start as soon as possible (don't wait for Jan 1st) and start with baby steps to build confidence.

3) Conduct your efforts like an experiment. If your plans go awry, examine how you can change your variables to produce a different outcome.

How to Find Effective Motivation with Mindset

If you search for motivation tips, they'll tell you things like, "Schedule it into you calendar," or "Switch up your routine." These tips are very surface-level and don't address the source and the energy behind your motivation to exercise. What good is "switching up your routine," if you're mentally berating yourself to exercise? In this episode we'll talk about investigating what narrative is painted around exercise and how this narrative sets up your motivation to exercise.
