Lîm Liân-hông is a junior high school chemistry teacher. He has won major awards in both Taiwan's education and literary circles: the Su-to̍k-chióng (Teacher Recognition Award) and the Taiwan Literature Award. 〈慢啼的大隻雞〉 (The Late-Crowing Rooster) is the first piece in his book, 《屁窒囡仔的謝師宴》, and it describes the first school he taught at and his first group of students. The entire book recounts his experiences as a teacher, his journey from the countryside to Taipei to study and work, and also the hardships and wisdom of his parents' farming life.

The book Hóe-chíⁿ (Fire Seed), published in 2020, collects many of Ngô͘ Ka-hun's award-winning works. This book describes Ngô͘'s feelings for her parents and hometown, her childhood life in Taitung, and her later experiences as a Taiwanese language teacher— especially, it explores her conviction in her mission as a 'seed-sower' for the Taiwanese language.

In summer, Taiwanese people eat liáng-miàn (cold noodles) paired with miso soup. How do you say "liáng-miàn" in Taiwanese? And how do you say "tāu-chhài-mī" (bean sprout noodles) in Mandarin? From this, we can see that although both are types of noodles eaten cold, their origins are not the same. Liáng-miàn came from elsewhere, but later became a dish with unique Taiwanese characteristics. From the evolution of liáng-miàn and tāu-chhài-mī, we can see how we integrate different culinary traditions and cultures, transforming them into a delicious Taiwanese flavor.
