November 3: Zohran Rising, Trump Raging, and JD on the Prowl

Zohran Mamdani is poised to win — and let’s hope he does, because every time a real progressive breaks through, the Democratic establishment panics and runs back to its corporate handlers.

Trump’s latest 60 Minutes meltdown, and JD Vance on the prowl — the self-styled moral crusader turned Erika Kirk consoler, trying to reinvent himself as the right’s romantic hero. It’s hypocrisy, hubris, and political theater rolled into one strange American show.

Plus, a look at a viral Niagara Falls video that has the whole region talking — is Tim Kennedy watching?

🎃 Episode: Happy Halloween — Oil Wars, AI Nightmares, and Dog-Shooting Politicians

Date: October 31, 2025

Summary:

Happy Halloween. As the freaks and weirdos of our country take over — from Kash Patel to a dog-shooting Kristi Noem — we have to ask: are we really about to go to war in Venezuela? Dear Lord. Is this just another oil war built on lies? Didn’t we learn anything from the past twenty-five years? They don’t make fentanyl in Venezuela. The excuses for this war make Iraq look like a solid case.

Beyond that cursed thought, AI is on the rise — and it doesn’t look good for America or the world. Chinese factories are going dark as robotic tentacle machines churn out supplies for a future no one voted for.

Meanwhile, Kristi Noem’s dog-shooting scandal has resurfaced, while Hasan Piker faces a wave of online outrage over an alleged training incident with his dog — a reminder that in today’s media circus, outrage comes easier than truth, and Halloween isn’t the only time the monsters come out.

And as if that weren’t surreal enough, Katie Miller—wife of Stephen Miller—has gone full identity-politics on a talk show, railing against Cenk Uygur in a performance that felt more like a Halloween costume than a political argument. The woman tied to the man who once preached “color-blind nationalism” now panders to grievance and paranoia — proving that even the architects of outrage eventually drown in their own creation.

October 29, 2025: Are We Invading Venezuela for Oil and Rare Earths? Are We Invading Venezuela for Oil and Rare Earths?

Summary:

In today’s episode, we ask a hard question: is the U.S. gearing up for another resource war — this time in Venezuela? Reports of increased military activity near the region raise concerns about motives behind American foreign policy. Venezuela holds the world’s largest oil reserves and significant rare earth elements — critical resources for global power and technology.

Meanwhile, at home, Trump is cutting food assistance programs while billions flow abroad to Argentina.

Three more days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween…

And the world is full of spooky corporations singing their own tune — wanting us to put on masks, tune in, and melt quietly into insects.

October 24, 2025: Steve Bannon, Third-Term Talk, Venezuela, and a New, Insane Trade War With Canada?

October 24, 2025
Steve Bannon, Third-Term Talk, Venezuela, and a New, Insane Trade War With Canada?
Steve Bannon is openly talking about plans that would bypass constitutional norms and keep Donald Trump back in power beyond the usual limits — rhetoric that should set off every alarm for anyone who believes in constitutional government.
At the same time, the administration’s saber-rattling toward Venezuela has escalated into a major military buildup in the southern Caribbean — warships, strikes on supposed cartel targets, and Pentagon contingency planning have all been reported. Analysts say a full-scale invasion still looks unlikely, but make no mistake: the pressure is real and the risk of miscalculation is very high.
And on the diplomatic/economic front, talks with Canada are collapsing — a dispute that has already produced threats of new tariffs and retaliatory measures. Trade tensions with our closest neighbor could quickly become another front in this administration’s show-of-force politics.
We’ll break down:
• What Bannon’s rhetoric really means for the rule of law • What the U.S. posture toward Venezuela looks like — show of force vs. invasion — and why Maduro’s government is responding like a country that feels threatened.
• How a tariff fight with Canada fits the overall playbook: outrage, economic pressure, and a willingness to weaponize trade.

October 23, 2025: Congressional Candidate Steve Holden on Rural Democrats and the State of America”

In today’s episode, I have a wide-ranging, free-form discussion with congressional candidate Steve Holden about everything from the slow creep of authoritarianism to the future of rural Democrats — and what it all means for the fate of American democracy.

We talk about the realities on the ground: how small towns are changing, why people are losing faith in institutions, and how hope still survives when the odds are stacked against it.

Then, a brief return of the now-bearded financial expert and friend of Tony O. He’s back to share his take on markets, money, and whatever else is rattling around in that brilliant head of his.

really want to focus on what’s happening with the TikTok sale and the absolute chokehold the right wing is about to have on media and our elections.

There’s little we can do about it right now — but eventually, this has to be resolved. When Democrats get back in power — if we can, given the way our democracy is being reordered — we’ll need to act fast.

The good news? The No Kings protest was a complete success. People are waking up.

But what worries me most is Trump’s reaction — posting fantasies of dumping filth on people like it’s funny. That’s not political theater — that’s serial killer stuff. It tells you exactly where his mind is, and it should scare everyone.

Where is his real intent leading? That’s what we’ll talk about today.

I was out in South Bristol this week for a Get Out the Vote event in the rural Finger Lakes. The place was buzzing — people from every walk of life, even a few MAGA folks — all focused on one thing: how to make their local communities stronger.

I spoke first with Lisa Moore, a South Bristol candidate bringing energy, empathy, and common sense to local leadership. Then I met Alissa Ellman, a congressional candidate and Army veteran from NY-24, who’s fighting for healthcare access, infrastructure, and working families.

Next was Dianna Kastenbaum, another NY-24 candidate and former small-business owner, focused on rebuilding local economies and restoring trust in government. And finally, Scott Comegys, who ran for State Senate District 54 and continues to champion working people, farmers, and the environment.

Here’s what I’ve always believed — and what these candidates prove: the way we fix America, and rebuild the Democratic Party, is by running good people everywhere. Even in the so-called “unwinnable” places. That’s how you rebuild hope, one community at a time.

🎙️ Episode 103 (October 17, 2025): Vance Defends White Supremacists, Ellison Builds a Police State

(Your (almost) daily update from The Nate McMurray Show: The Sound of Niagara Podcast)

JD Vance is defending the Incel Naz i group chat — these men who openly call themselves fascists and Nazis, yet recoil when you use the labels. He says they “don’t want to be called fascist or Nazi” even while embracing the ideology. That’s the most insidious kind of dishonesty: hiding behind words while letting actions speak hate.

Then there’s Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle and major Trump backer, who’s quietly helping to build a police state. He’s advancing surveillance, pushing tech into systems that track and monitor our lives. The person who builds the system becomes the one who controls it — and Ellison’s role in this is something America should be watching, not ignoring.

Together, these stories aren’t disconnected. They show how fascism grows — through denial, through tech, through silence. And if we don’t confront it now, we’ll wake up in a country that looks like something from a dystopian novel.

We’ll talk about what we can do instead—how to call out the hypocrisy, how to resist, and how to rebuild institutions based on accountability, justice, and real equality.

🎙️ Episode 101 (October 14, 2025): The Rise of Stephen Miller — and the Fall (and Future) of Liberalism

(Your (almost) daily update from The Nate McMurray Show: The Sound of Niagara Podcast)

Let’s talk about Stephen Miller — his rise, his rage, and what he represents. He grew up in Southern California, the child of immigrants, a Star Trek nerd. He became a bald, pale, fanatic figure — a man who took the lessons of science fiction and twisted them into a dystopian manual for America. Now he’s the architect of raids, deportations, and the creeping militarization of our own country.Stephen Miller didn’t just shape Trump’s immigration policies — he’s shaping the new American authoritarianism, complete with stormtroopers and propaganda. His dream isn’t freedom; it’s control. And that brings me to something bigger — the fall of liberalism. Not “liberal” in the partisan sense, but in the classical sense: hope, open markets, individual rights, and small government. The kind of government that doesn’t tell you how to pray, what to read, or where your kids can go to school.#NateMcMurrayShow #SoundOfNiagara #Podcast #StephenMiller#Trump #Authoritarianism #Fascism #Liberalism #Democracy#HumanRights #Freedom #Resist #Immigration #FreeSpeech#PoliticalPodcast #StarTrek #PopCulture #Hope #Justice#NiagaraFalls #StayStrong

🎙️ Episode 100 (October 13, 2025): The War on Gaza Ends — But the Lessons for America Are Just Beginning

🎙️ Episode 100 (October 13, 2025): The War on Gaza Ends — But the Lessons for America Are Just Beginning

(Your (almost) daily update from The Nate McMurray Show: The Sound of Niagara Podcast)

The war in Gaza is over—but the way they’re celebrating, you’d think they just won World War II. Let’s be honest: this wasn’t a victory. This was an agreement to stop a genocide, to stop bombing a trapped civilian population into dust.

And yet, they’re calling it peace. No. Peace isn’t what happens when the bombs stop. Peace is what happens when justice begins. And justice isn’t coming from the people who dropped the bombs — it’s coming from those who survived them, from the people of Gaza, who endured everything and refused to disappear.

It only ended because the world stood up — because millions protested, because ordinary people said, “Not in our name.” That’s what made the difference. The endurance of Gaza and the outrage of the world forced this moment.

Then I shift gears to talk about something closer to home — the Buffalo Bills deal. I said it before, and people hated me for it, but I’ll say it again: it’s a scam. I know how to pander. I could say “Go Bills” a hundred times, and people would cheer. But real loyalty means telling the truth. Public money got funneled into private hands while communities struggled. It’s the same story everywhere — power protects power, and the little guy pays.

Let this moment — in Gaza and in Buffalo — remind us what happens when we stop paying attention.

And before I go, a quick announcement: I’ll be near Canandaigua on October 18 for Rock the Boat: Get Out and Vote, with Aaron Lipp and friends at The Woods. Come out for music, community, and hope. Democracy only works if we do.

🎙️ Episode 99 (October 11, 2025): Who Deserves the Nobel Peace Prize — Trump or the People of Gaza?

(Your (almost) daily update from The Nate McMurray Show: The Sound of Niagara Podcast)

Who should get the Nobel Peace Prize? Trump? Please. How about the people of Gaza—who’ve withstood calls for ethnic cleansing by Trump’s himself and one of the most powerful militaries on earth? They’ve lost nearly everything, yet they still demand sovereignty and dignity. They’re still there. Still standing.

But who cares? After all, Gandhi never won the Nobel Peace Prize—but Henry Kissinger did. That tells you everything about how power often defines “peace.”

From there, we turn to the protests in America—people taking to the streets while democracy itself slides toward extinction. The question is: why are we giving it up so easily? Generations fought and died for this experiment, and now we’re watching it slip away because of apathy and fear.

Trump’s greatest trick isn’t policy—it’s psychological. He’s flattening everything, making all politicians look the same: corrupt, broken, worthless. It’s not new—it’s a classic Russian disinformation tactic known as cynical equivalence. The goal isn’t to convince you that he’s good; it’s to make you believe that no one is.

Once everything feels tainted—truth, government, media, democracy itself—people stop believing in anything. That’s the point. You don’t have to destroy a country with bombs when you can do it with doubt. When nothing seems real, only the strongman feels solid.

Trump didn’t invent this playbook, but he’s mastered it: destroy faith in everything, then claim to be the only thing left to trust.

🎙️ Episode 98 (October 10, 2025): Trump Wants Unrest — And Democrats Are Still Asleep (Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)

🎙️ Episode 98 (October 10, 2025): Trump Wants Unrest — And Democrats Are Still Asleep

(Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)

Trump wants unrest. He wants to provoke chaos in our streets and then slap a label on anyone who resists—“terrorist,” “ANTIFA,” whatever makes it easier to criminalize dissent. That’s not accident or incompetence; it’s a tactic: create crisis, claim authority, crush opposition.

If Democrats don’t wake up fast, they’ll get outflanked not on policy but on messaging. Someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene will happily leapfrog them—taking the energy, the anger, and converting it into votes. The MAGA base isn’t a neat ideological box: fiscally they can be anti-tax or open to big spending for things they like; socially they’re conservative. Crucially, many don’t want the status-quo healthcare system.

So here’s the blunt truth I lay out in this episode: give them a better economic story. Say it loud, say it often—healthcare as a human right, a living wage, meaningful workplace protections, and a real plan to shrink the wealth gap. Offer an economic future that actually improves people’s lives. That’s how you beat Trump—politically, at the ballot box, and in the battle for hearts and minds.

But there’s a risk: if Democrats fail to move, MAGA will steal the message first—co-opt the language of economic justice and strip it of its meaning. That’s the danger we talk about: not just losing an election, but losing the moral high ground and letting authoritarian-leaning actors rebrand populism as cruelty.

This episode is a call to action: stop debating for the sake of debate. Build a bold, populist economic platform rooted in dignity and solidarity. Communicate it plainly, relentlessly, and compassionately. If we do that, we don’t just counter Trump’s chaos—we give people a reason to believe again.

(Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)

They’re grooming America for violence—not against enemies abroad, but against our own citizens. It starts in our cities.Yes, the war in Gaza might be nearing an end—after Gaza was obliterated—but that doesn’t mean Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. Not while he’s sending stormtroopers into American streets, some reportedly bearing swastika tattoos, as seen in recent videos. These troops aren’t protecting freedom; they’re terrorizing it. They’re shooting women, firing on protesters, and calling it “order.”This is what authoritarianism looks like: free speech under siege, an economy in freefall, and a nation gaslit into believing the violence is somehow patriotic. And now, as if to top it all off, they want 80-year-old Lee Greenwood to perform at the Super Bowl—again. For the record, I love America. But I hate that corny, shallow song. It represents none of the beauty, none of the complexity, none of the art of this great country.America deserves better than a flag-wrapped jingle.

🎙️ Episode 95 (October 7, 2025): The Center Cannot Hold — Counterfeits in Uniform

(Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)

I remind you of what Yeats warned: “The center will not hold.” And right now, it’s not.

Our airports are failing, our systems breaking down, and our space program—once the pride of the free world—is crumbling under Elon Musk’s chaos. While China is preparing to return to the Moon, we’re watching rockets fail and billionaires play pretend astronaut on social media.

Meanwhile, we’re sending billions to prop up Argentine soybean farmers, because they’re fascist friends of Trump, while American farmers go bankrupt under his tariffs.

And to you MAGA diehards—you gave Trump full control. All three branches of government. For this? So he can beat up Americans in the streets, fly Black Hawks over cities, and call it law and order? That’s what you wanted? That’s your America?

If you’re wearing a uniform to hurt your fellow citizens, you’re not a patriot—you’re a counterfeit. You’re wearing our flag to harm us. Real strength isn’t domination. Real patriotism isn’t obedience.

The center may not hold—but it’s still ours to rebuild.

Episode 94 (October 6, 2025): Martial Law Is Here — Trump Just Won’t Call It That
(Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)
Martial law is here. Trump just isn’t calling it that.
You can dress it up as “miracle law” or “public safety,” but when Black Hawk helicopters are flying over apartment complexes, that’s not freedom — that’s occupation. And you MAGA diehards who think deporting families or storming cities will make life better for you — how, exactly?
MAGA now controls every branch of government, and look what they’re doing with it: lying about Portland — Portland! — pretending it’s under siege to justify more crackdowns. Until, of course, they turn those cannons on you.
As the song says: don’t be a bootlicker. Be an individual. Don’t bow to power. Resist putting on a uniform unless it’s to do good — not to handcuff kids in Chicago, you fools.
And finally, I talk about Greta Thunberg, now being paraded around like a political prisoner in Israel — another sign of just how far this madness has gone.
It’s here. It’s real. But it will end — if we remember who we are.

Episode 93 (October 4, 2025): Pee-wee Patriotism, Pope Leo, and the Hope That Won’t Die

(Your (almost) daily update from The Sound of Niagara)

In this episode, I talk about the desperate duo of Kash Patel and Pete Hegseth—two men trying way too hard to look like tough guys. Hegseth struts around in his Pee-wee Herman suit, while Patel hands out skull-covered “Kash” trophies that look like they were designed by a 12-year-old boy hopped up on energy drinks. These are the people preaching strength while showing us nothing but insecurity.

Then I turn to Pope Leo, who’s standing up to the rising tide of MAGA hate and anti-immigrant rage with courage and compassion—something we could use a lot more of.

I also touch on the sellouts at the Riyadh Comedy Festival, where Western comics and entertainers are cashing in while looking the other way on repression. It’s a reminder that the global stage is full of people willing to trade their voices for a paycheck.

And yes, I talk about Trump again—because now he wants to put his own face on U.S. money. Like the Queen of England, only with less dignity and more self-delusion.

But through it all, I remind you: stay hopeful. Nobody wants to live in a Church Lady society, where the government tells you what to laugh at, what to read, and what to think. These control freaks have overplayed their hand.

It will end.

Stay strong.

Episode 91: Peter Thiel’s Antichrist Fantasy, Trump’s Madness, and the Power of Hope

Episode 91: Peter Thiel’s Antichrist Fantasy, Trump’s Madness, and Why Hope Still Matters

Let me tell you why Peter Thiel thinks he can rule over us as the Antichrist. I kid you not—the billionaire funding Trump and J.D. Vance is a bona fide lunatic. In this episode, I lay out his moral philosophy in simple terms, showing how his ideas about power, tech, and “elites” add up to something deeply dangerous.

Then I turn to Trump, strutting in front of generals and his Secretary of War in what looks like a Pee-wee Herman suit, bragging about what a warrior he is—only to be met with crickets from the people in uniform. It’s madness masquerading as strength.

I wrap up with a look at the government shutdown and a reminder that dictatorship requires constant control, but freedom only needs people willing to believe in it. Hope is in our DNA—and that’s stronger than fear.

Episode 90: Trump Can’t Say Abraham, Schumer Can’t Sell Healthcare, and China Pulls AheadTrump can’t say Abraham. He can’t read, he can’t speak clearly, and yet he expects you to shrug it off like it doesn’t matter. Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth is out here doing the goofy griddy routine, trying to be Ryan Seacrest when he’s supposed to be talking about running the military. It’d be hilarious if it weren’t so pathetic. Then there’s Chuck Schumer, threatening a government shutdown to “protect healthcare.” But let’s be honest—no one actually likes their healthcare. It’s confusing, overpriced, and built to serve insurance companies, not patients. If Democrats want to win, they need to offer something real: healthcare as a human right. And while we spin in circles with political theater and empty fights, China is leapfrogging the United States in technology—AI, green energy, infrastructure—securing the future while we waste time.#SoundOfNiagara #Trump #PeteHegseth #ChuckSchumer#Healthcare #HealthcareForAll #MedicareForAll#China #Technology #AI #GreenEnergy #Innovation#Politics #Democracy#Podcast #NateMcMurray
