🎙️ Episode 104 (October 17, 2025): Hope in the Finger Lakes — Running Everywhere, Even When It’s Hard
(Your (almost) daily update from The Nate McMurray Show: The Sound of Niagara Podcast)
First off, sorry about the sound quality — I was working with some bad mics and had to piece this one together, but the message was too important not to share.

I was out in South Bristol this week for a Get Out the Vote event in the rural Finger Lakes. The place was buzzing — people from every walk of life, even a few MAGA folks — all focused on one thing: how to make their local communities stronger.
I spoke first with Lisa Moore, a South Bristol candidate bringing energy, empathy, and common sense to local leadership. Then I met Alissa Ellman, a congressional candidate and Army veteran from NY-24, who’s fighting for healthcare access, infrastructure, and working families.
Next was Dianna Kastenbaum, another NY-24 candidate and former small-business owner, focused on rebuilding local economies and restoring trust in government. And finally, Scott Comegys, who ran for State Senate District 54 and continues to champion working people, farmers, and the environment.
Here’s what I’ve always believed — and what these candidates prove: the way we fix America, and rebuild the Democratic Party, is by running good people everywhere. Even in the so-called “unwinnable” places. That’s how you rebuild hope, one community at a time.
