Someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene will happily leapfrog them—taking the energy, the anger, and converting it into votes. The MAGA base isn’t a neat ideological box: fiscally they can be anti-tax or open to big spending for things they like; socially they’re conservative. Crucially, many don’t want the status-quo healthcare system.

So here’s the blunt truth I lay out in this episode: give them a better economic story. Say it loud, say it often—healthcare as a human right, a living wage, meaningful workplace protections, and a real plan to shrink the wealth gap. Offer an economic future that actually improves people’s lives. That’s how you beat Trump—politically, at the ballot box, and in the battle for hearts and minds.

But there’s a risk: if Democrats fail to move, MAGA will steal the message first—co-opt the language of economic justice and strip it of its meaning. That’s the danger we talk about: not just losing an election, but losing the moral high ground and letting authoritarian-leaning actors rebrand populism as cruelty.
