It's okay to say no to a work Christmas night out if you don't feel  comfortable going. Going to social events with your colleagues can be  intimidating, especially if an alcohol-centric atmosphere isn't the  right environment for everyone. There are other reasons too why it might  not be suitable for you to attend; maybe the event will take place at  an inconvenient time or location, or perhaps your budget doesn't allow  it. It can also be difficult to balance professional and personal  relationships with colleagues, so attending a work function outside  normal hours may not be ideal.    No matter your reason for not wanting to go, it is important that you  feel comfortable declining invitations to avoid any awkwardness or  potential conflict. Remember that it is your decision and you should not  be forced to attend if you don't want to. Communicate clearly and  politely with your colleagues, so they know why you are not available,  and explain that while you would love to join in the festivities, it  simply isn’t feasible this year. You can also suggest alternative  activities like getting together for lunch during the work day or  organizing a virtual Christmas gathering instead.     At the end of the day, it's okay to say no – whatever your reason may  be! Respect yourself, respect others, and make sure that your decisions  align with what is best for yourself and those around you. They may not  understand at first but will come to accept it.

Show that you are listening: Eye contact, nodding your head, and  making affirmative sounds such as "uh-huh" can all show the speaker that  you are paying attention and engaging with what they are saying     2. Ask questions: Asking clarifying questions can help to ensure that  both parties are on the same page and that you have a complete  understanding of what is being said     3. Avoid distractions: Any external distractions such as phones,  laptops, or other people can be a significant obstacle in actively  listening. It is essential to ensure that there are no distractions  before engaging in active listening     4. Take notes: Taking notes can help to ensure that you remember the  conversation in case you need to refer back to it at a later date     5. Use reflective statements: Reflective statements are phrases or  questions that repeat or paraphrase what the speaker has said, such as  "So you're saying…?" This allows the speaker to know that you are paying  close attention and understanding what they are saying     Active listening is an important communication skill that can help build  relationships, increase understanding, and ensure messages get across  clearly. This will help you identify the best solution for them, which may not necessarily be what you are offering.  Practice active listening to ensure that you fully comprehend the customer's requirements before suggesting a product or solution.  Use feedback from customers who have rejected your offer to refine your strategies and make sure that prospects are more likely to purchase from you.      Finally, stay positive even when facing rejection. Remind yourself of past successes and focus on building relationships with potential customers instead of closing deals. Having a clear sense of who you are and what you can do is key to self-confidence.

Humility should also be a part of this process—acknowledge there may always be something new to learn and don't be afraid to ask for help or advice. Open yourself up to feedback from

MONDAY - Health scaremongers!!!

January is less than 4 weeks away, and you will soon be bombarded with people telling you that you're not optimising your wealth.

It's true. It happens every year!

Some of it is great, and some of it is scary.

You don't have to shave your head, meditate on the top of a mountain, breathe like a free diver, eat raw vegetables, and become a yogi. I have done all of these apart from one.

Yeah, you've read those articles too. But we don't have to do it all once or go full blunt force, health guru.

Instead, look at adding these things into your everyday life. For example, make up your own morning routine.

Here is a list of my favourites. Of course, you can try some of these in one go or of them.

Have a ritual.

The first thing I do is make coffee.

1. I like the process and repetition of the smells and, of course, the caffeine. This signals the start of the day, and having something familiar feels good.

1. Brain dump journal. If I must remember multiple tasks and keep them in my head, it means it's taking up bandwidth in my head. So, write it down, make a voice recording add it to your notes.

2. Sweat, but not until you bleed. Who remembers the C&C music factory. Get a sweat on, the blood pressure pumping, push yourself, release the endorphins,d and enjoy some mental clarity. Who doesn't want to feel elated? Let's? Get HIGH. The benefits of cardio or great for your body, heart, or head. Skipping, cycling, rowing, running.

Practice gratitude. This may be the most straightforward and worthwhile exercise on the list. We are all bombarded with materialistic possessions. Cars, bags, watches, yachts, property, and even health and fitness equipment. It's easy to be swayed by everything you don't have.

1. Instead, recognise all the things you do have. Write down 10 things you are thankful for. If you do this every day for a week, you will acknowledge all the wonderful you have.

Read a book for fun, that's right. Read a book for fun. Put down your business books and just read something for fun. The calmness and relaxation that comes from escaping in a book or unparallel. Turn the phone off.

Pour yourself a cuppa and just read.

1. It's simple, effective, fun and relaxing.

2. DRINK MORE WATER. It's simpler than reading a book. If you're lucky, it comes out of your tap. Scottish water is fantastic. The benefits of water are excellent, too. It improves mental performance, removes waste from your body and can help reduce calorie intake. I could do a whole article on water. Aim for about 2.5-3.5 litres of water.

Studies have shown that having a regular morning routine can boost brainpower, set your mind for success, and make you more productive. Here's how it works:

Establishing this quick yet meaningful morning routine can help you be more productive and thrive daily. So – give yourself that jumpstart to success and take charge of your morning. You won't regret it!

Remember, the most successful and long-lasting changes are applied gradually.

The power of impossibility. The remarkable capacity to attempt something that has never been achieved. To go beyond what's expected, assumed or even imagined. Impossible things can be incredibly daunting and intimidating. Still, they also represent a unique opportunity to explore uncharted territories and push boundaries in ways no one has ever thought of before. Anything can become possible with unwavering faith in ourselves and dedication to our goals. By recognizing the potential in the seemingly impossible, we open up new possibilities for creativity, innovation and progress. Of course, we need to determine exactly where our efforts will lead us. Involve other parties to gain their perspectives and expertise so that everyone can work together towards finding an answer.
