Her Career, Her Code
S2, E23 - Expansion with Ann-Madeleine Njike

What if you were to stop what you’re doing and truly listen to yourself? Would you be exactly where you’re at right at this very moment or would you be someplace else?

Through sharing her career journey and story, Ann-Madeleine also opens up publicly about what led her to her burnout, how she navigated this challenging period and more importantly: what she did to recharge, realign and find herself again.

Expect this episode to be a true source of inspiration as Ann-Madeleine shares more about her professional journey which included carving a path for herself as well as for others, but also how more recently she moved away from a go-go-go approach to tune in & being kind with herself.

Please note that for this episode, Ann-Madeleine has shared her story in her personal capacity.

About Ann-Madeleine

Ann-Madeleine Njike is a senior in-house legal counsel at Barclays Bank in the Structured Products and Equities team, based in London.

As a qualified lawyer (England and Wales) and bilingual French jurist, Ann-Madeleine supports business partners globally. Prior to her role at Barclays, she spent over 10 years at Crédit Agricole CIB London branch. There she set up Crédit Agricole’s first ever complete SRA in-house qualification training programme for employees. Ann-Madeleine was the first to qualify under this programme, studying part-time (evening) for two years whilst working in the Capital Markets Legal

team (which was a challenge!).

Ann-Madeleine is of mixed cultural heritage (British/Cameroonian) - born in France while also living in Cameroon for three years as a child, she was brought up in a blend of cultures and languages which helped her develop a strong ability to see and understand different and unique perspectives. Ann-Madeleine deeply believes in empowering others to become the best, most authentic version of themselves. She believes that we are all able to transform our lives in the most magnificent way,

regardless of our past and to transcend cycles which may have kept us stuck for a bit.

One of her deepest convictions is that we each have incredible gifts to bring to this world. To her, the best is always to come and she will always strive to support others through mentoring, coaching and sometimes just active listening or holding space. That’s just how she’s wired! When she’s not discussing personal transformation and life’s big questions with others (soul food for her), Ann-Madeleine enjoys mindfulness and energy practices, weights training, horse riding,

scuba diving, travelling the world (and enjoying its foods), reading and creating medicinal tinctures. One of her favourite quotations - “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” - Wayne Dyer

You can contact her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ann-madeleine-njike-douffa-dinallo/

Her Career, Her Code
S2, E20 - Cultivate-Joy with Diane Touren

Dear listener, get yourself comfortably set up for this 20th episode with Diane Touren and be ready to embark on a mindfulness journey as she shares her story with us.

Diane has lived, studied and worked in many countries including France, China, Switzerland, Spain Egypt and Canada, just to name a few. She has worked for large organisations such as Ritz-Carlton and Sephora and today… today, she lives in a monastery in France, and truly thrives being in the service of others.

During this episode, we unpack together the key moments that form part of Diane’s story but also how these led to the life she lives today. Diane is a true force of nature and maybe like me, you’ll feel how contagious her peacefulness and mindfulness are!

About Diane Touren

Born in France, and recently Canadian, Diane (aka Dee) had the opportunity to travel and discover other cultures at a very early age. After studying at a prestigious university in Canada and a hospitality school in Switzerland, she started her career by choosing companies that reflected her personal values (Ritz-Carlton and Sephora amongst others). Being laid off after the pandemic, she decided to explore a different way of life based on living together and community service which resembled more what she had known in China.

Thanks to almost “magical” circumstances, she discovered Plum Village, a Buddhist monastery created by Thich Nhat Hahn in the Bordeaux region in France, that serves as a school for mindfulness and engaged Buddhism, and receives thousands of people every year in the hope of contributing to more peace, joy, and happiness in the world.

She is now contributing to the monastery life by offering her presence and living there as a long-term resident and freelance worker.

If you are interested in learning more about Plum Village or Thich Nhat Hanh please click here.

S2, E14 - Adventurous with Lucy Johnson

This episode is a special one, as I’ve met Lucy in the real world through CrossFit and have been impressed by both her incredible physical energy and fitness levels, as well as her kindness and open-heartedness.

Without any surprise, Lucy sharing her career journey in this episode is a true reflection of who is she as a person: expect some inspiring stories as to how she led a 20+ years career in corporate life, before starting her own business as an independent consultant.

Prior to 2020, Lucy had spent 20 years in financial services working for Barclays Bank, Barclaycard and then moving to Insurance with Hastings Direct. She built a successful career out of leading business transformations and delivering top and bottom-line growth.

Career highlights include becoming a Managing Director in Barclaycard by the time she was 30 and was then a member of the team who took Hastings Direct through a private equity sale and subsequent IPO, joining the FTSE 250. Through the 20 years of corporate life Lucy is most proud of the teams she built and led and the fun they had along the way.
