In this episode I answer an email from a teacher who says "I just received this email from the mother of a young beginner that's been taking group lessons for a few months. We have always had positive interactions and he has fun at the lessons. I've had this happen one other time where the parent cites convenience as the reason for leaving. In your experience is this a legitimate reason or do you think there's an underlying issue? I would imagine if I provide enough value for the student and parent, they'll be happy to come at a less convenient time. However I'm not sure what areas I need to improve on to make the young beginner lessons more valuable. Do you have any suggestions?"
In the second half I share some important business lessons from the US elections.

Paul Akers is the author of a book called ‘2 Second Lean’ and is what I will call a champion of ‘Lean thinking’. He did not invent the concept but has done an amazing job of implementing it in both his business life and personal life. The first time I came across the actual term ‘lean’ as applied to business was when I read ’The Lean Startup’ by Eric Ries in 2012. In this episode I am diving into lean thinking.

In this episode I answer some teacher questions.
This comes as a response to a G4 GUITAR teacher video message. I have noticed some teachers are offering 'more' by way of extra classes to students at no extra cost. This is not necessarily a bad thing but you do need to be careful about this approach as it can often backfire. It immediately results in more work for the teacher and may make little to no difference or worse, causes more dropouts. My advice may at first seem a little counterintuitive but it’s based on many years of research and experience and personal mistakes. It's actually one of the primary reasons businesses fail. Time is your most important resource so you need to spend it wisely.

Right now we are seeing a once in a lifetime event. The main threat is our medical systems becoming swamped due to the exponential rise in people needing to be hospitalised all at once. Some experts believe 50% or more of the population will get the virus at some point. Of those 15% or more will need a hospital bed. This is going to push our medical services to the limit.
