63. Handguns: Pop Punks Most Unpalatable Band |The Uncut, Uncensored and Unsanctioned Interview | Emo Kids Anonymous

In this out of control interview, Amanda and Robb have the unfortunate pleasure of sitting down with Pennsylvania pop punk band Handguns. We Were also joined by their legal counsel Mr. Charlie Basil who later turned out to be a fraud as it was just a member of Handguns in costume trying to avoid detection due to outstanding warrants. I wish I could tell you what else we talked about but this whole thing was a blur. The police even showed up at my place because Benji was picking up on the bad energy and throwing a tantrum in the other room.

We've done over 60 episodes of this show now and that includes roughly 30 interviews. Never once in those 30 interviews have we experienced chaos and degeneracy to the degree that Handguns brought it.

I think at one point we talked about their issues with some bigger pop punk bands that they came up with. State Champs, The Wonder Years, Man Overboard I think. They mentioned suing people? I'm not sure, I'm still thinking about Charlie Basil.

Oh yeah, I guess my friend Sean Tolley also knows these jabronis. Sean is the most straight laced, no nonsense dude I know. He must have hated these guys so much.

Thanks for watching or listening, please follow/subscribe to stay up to date and I guess if you feel inclined you could also go check out Handguns but I'm not sure we should be enabling these characters anymore than they enable themselves.

Nah, they're not so bad.

Thankfully I was joined by two worthy guests, Lisa from Stereo Therapy and Kanan from NAPNET news. Please enjoy, and Amanda I hope I didn't say or do anything too bad without you there to keep me in line.* -Robb Laffoon

On this episode we dive deep into everything fandom. The online communities, the barricade brigades, meet and greets, and everything in between. we get into personal experiences, the evolution of fan culture, and the impact of social media. The sense of community that fandoms create, the challenges of elitism, and the significant role female fans play in the music industry all come up as well. This also touches on the accessibility of concerts and how personal identity is intertwined with the bands you love. At one point the discussion also touches on the controversial legacy of the band Brand New and the complexities of navigating the separation of art from artist and yeah, we also touch on the best and worst fanbases. At the end of the day though this episode is about importance of respect and understanding within the music community that we all need to work together to achieve.

Emo Kids Anonymous Podcast
For the misfits who wore their hearts on their sleeves and their headphones in their ears—our scars are a part of us, and our stories are worth sharing. Here, we embrace the angst, the nostalgia, and the soundtracks that shaped us. We're not just the kids who grew up on emo and pop-punk; we're the adults who carry that music in our souls, still finding meaning in every riff and lyric. This is a space for healing, laughing, remembering, and redefining what it means to grow up while never letting go of the music that helped us survive. Welcome to Emo Kids Anonymous Podcast
