Efficiently Ever After
Staying Steady When Everything’s on Fire

In this episode of Efficiently Ever After, host Aspen Peggs discusses the challenges of staying organized under pressure as a business owner. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing stressors, trusting established systems, prioritizing tasks, and practicing micro-organization. The episode also highlights the necessity of taking breaks, clear communication, and regularly reviewing and adjusting systems to maintain productivity and mental health. Ultimately, Peggs encourages listeners to manage stress effectively by building robust systems that can withstand chaotic periods.

Takeaways

  • Recognize your stressors. Get specific about what's actually weighing you down.
  • Lean on your established systems. Don't abandon your structure when you need it the most.
  • Prioritize with triage, just like the ER. Focus on what matters and not what's the fucking loudest.
  • Micro-organize. Break it all into manageable bite-sized pieces.
  • Take mini breaks. Rest isn't weakness, it's just part of your plan.
  • Communicate clearly. Boundaries, they're your safety net.
  • Review and adjust. Keep learning, keep changing, keep refining.
  • High pressure periods are part of the game.
  • Staying organized isn't about perfection; it's about staying sane.
  • Chaos doesn't go away; it just becomes easier to manage with the right foundations.

Efficiently Ever After
Think Like an Owner (Even If You’re Not the Boss)

If you’re waiting to be told what to do or saying “that’s not my job,” you’re not leading. You’re just checking boxes.

In this episode, I’m calling out what separates real ownership from task-doing. Because if you want to get promoted, get trusted, or just stop having your work second-guessed, this is where it starts.

I’m breaking down how to show up like the business depends on you, even if your title says assistant, coordinator, or manager. This mindset has built careers, kept people employed during layoffs, and made the difference between being overlooked and being essential.

Here’s what I get into:

  • what “thinking like an owner” actually looks like
  • how to stop being a reactive checklist robot
  • why strong boundaries still mean showing up like you give a shit
  • the exact phrases to use when something’s broken
  • a dead simple mindset shift you can start this week

If You’re the Only One Who Gets It, It Doesn’t Count

In this episode of Efficiently Ever After, I’m calling out one of the biggest issues I see with founders and CEOs—unclear leadership. If your team constantly looks confused, it’s probably not a talent problem. It’s because you never gave them the damn map.

I’m sharing how implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) completely changed how we operate at Northern Primrose. From Rocks to the V/TO to L10 meetings, EOS gave us structure, clarity, and a way to hold people accountable without micromanaging the shit out of everything.

This episode is packed with straight talk and practical tips to help you stop playing business and actually lead one. If you’re tired of carrying the entire load, repeating yourself on Slack, or wondering why no one’s taking initiative—this one’s for you.

Takeaways:

  • If your team looks confused, that’s on you.

  • I hadn’t given anyone the big picture.

  • Busywork kills momentum.

  • EOS helped us stop winging it and start leading.

  • People don’t just want tasks—they want purpose.

  • Leadership without babysitting? That’s the goal.

  • Just pick one tool—Rocks, V/TO, L10s—whatever.

  • Write the fucking plan.

From Burnout to Bougie Branding: Building a Business That Actually Converts with Ayla Sorochuk

What happens when a systems queen teams up with a branding bombshell? You get this firecracker of a conversation between myelf and digital marketing strategist turned business coach, Ayla Sorochuk.

In this episode, we’re talking about building brands that actually connect, content that doesn’t make you cringe, and why going viral isn’t the vibe if it’s not making you money.

Ayla dishes on how she went from marketing behind the scenes to running a 7-figure business with a “small but mighty” following—and why it’s not about the followers, it’s about the focus.

You’ll hear:

  • The truth about branding (hint: it’s more than your Canva colour palette)

  • Why trends aren’t a strategy—and what to post instead

  • Ayla’s exact content creation schedule (and her favourite tools)

  • The Instagram Story framework that generated $40K in 2 days

  • A juicy flop that turned into a lesson (because not everything is Instagram-perfect)

We also roast passive-aggressive email sign-offs, explain why “can you kindly” should be illegal, and laugh through the awkward DMs that accidentally land in the wrong inbox (yes, that happened).

If you’ve ever wondered how to show up online without selling your soul—or how to build a personal brand that’s unapologetically you—this one’s for you.

Your Résumé Isn’t That Impressive, Babe. And neither is your AI-generated cover letter.

In this episode of Efficiently Ever After, we’re getting into the brutally honest truths of hiring—whether you’re the one applying or the one doing the hiring.

If you’ve ever fluffed your skill ratings, ghosted an application form with “see résumé,” refused to send a video because it felt “discriminatory,” or straight-up melted down during a screen share… this one’s for you. (And yes, it might sting.)

Inside this episode:

  • Why the whole hiring process is meant to be discriminatory
  • What a “5/5” skill rating really means—and how it backfires
  • Why not submitting a 5 minute video is a red flag, not a power move
  • What we’re really looking for in a culture interview
  • And why leading with “boundaries” = you're probably gonna be a pain in the ass

This one’s spicy, uncomfortable, and wildly necessary—especially if you’re tired of hiring people who look great on paper and crumble on Day 3.

🎧 Hit play and let’s get real about why your résumé alone isn’t going to cut it.

First Impressions Aren’t Just for Tinder: Why Client Onboarding Matters

🎙 Episode: First Impressions Aren’t Just for Tinder: Why Client Onboarding Matters

If you’re still winging your client onboarding with a form, a contract, and a “let me know if you have questions” email—this is your wake-up call.

In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on how we actually onboard clients at Northern Primrose. You’ll hear the exact flow we use (yes, the real one), the tools that save our sanity, and the spicy truth about what builds trust vs. what makes clients quietly second-guess you.

We cover:

  • Why onboarding is emotional, not just operational
  • What our real onboarding flow looks like—from lead to kickoff
  • The two Slack channels every service business should be using
  • How to build trust before you ever start delivering
  • What to steal today if your onboarding process is a dumpster fire

✨ Whether you’re managing 3 clients or 30, this episode will help you set the tone, calm the chaos, and keep your clients happy from day one.

The Winning Hand: A High-Stakes Client Onboarding Checklist

Tired of dropped balls, awkward starts, and clients asking, “So… what happens next?”
Here’s your no-fluff onboarding checklist to set the tone and take control from Day 1:

✅ Send the follow-up email within 24 hours of the discovery call
✅ Create the client folder using your internal file structure (don’t wing it)
✅ Add notes from the discovery call to your CRM or project management tool
✅ Send the welcome email with clear next steps and required info
✅ Assign internal onboarding tasks to your team with deadlines
✅ Book the kickoff call (or send the kickoff video if async)
✅ Share access links: shared folders, ClickUp, Slack, etc.
✅ Send first invoice or payment confirmation (and confirm terms!)
✅ Automate recurring tasks: reporting, check-ins, deliverables
✅ Set up a “success check-in” 30 days in to gather feedback + keep momentum

5 Signs Your Business Is a Hot Mess (and What to Do About It)

If you feel like your business only works because you are duct-taping it together every damn day—this one’s for you.

In this episode, I’m calling out five painfully obvious (but somehow ignored) signs that things are a little... chaotic behind the scenes. No judgment, just the uncomfortable truth and some real, practical steps you can take to clean it up.

We cover:

  1. Everything Still Runs Through You – Why you’re stuck as the human instruction manual and how to escape it

  3. Your Team Is Flying Blind – If you’re tired of being asked “what should I do next?” this is for you

When Efficiency Looks Like Rest

The last two weeks didn’t exactly go according to plan. I got sick — and not the quick, bounce-back kind. It’s been a stretch of blood tests, echocardiograms, mystery symptoms, and more days than I’d like to admit feeling like a bag of smashed assholes.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing why there’s been a pause, what slowing down taught me about real efficiency, and why taking care of your health is leadership — not a weakness. I’m also pulling back the curtain on how we handle this at Northern Primrose: when someone’s sick, they rest — full stop.

If you’re someone who struggles with slowing down (even when your body is begging you to), this one’s for you. Sometimes the most powerful move you can make isn’t pushing through — it’s pressing pause.

Thanks for sticking with me. I’ll see you soon — rested, recharged, and ready.

Too many entrepreneurs waste hours on tasks they should have handed off months ago—emails, scheduling, admin work, and all the behind-the-scenes chaos that keeps them stuck in their business instead of actually growing it.

✔ Why so many business owners resist hiring an assistant (and why that’s a huge mistake)
✔ How to build trust so you’re not micromanaging every little thing
✔ The exact tasks you should offload first to free up your time
✔ How to communicate effectively so your assistant becomes an extension of you

✅ The wake-up call of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome—how a toxic workplace and stress nearly killed me and left me with permanent facial paralysis

✅ Why I walked away from that job and went all in on Northern Primrose

✅ The behind-the-scenes look at why so many businesses are inefficient (after working with over 300 of them)

✅ How I built a collaborative, solution-oriented team using my 1-3-1 approach

✅ My "Do It Now" method for getting things done and eliminating overwhelm

One of the biggest challenges for entrepreneurs? Getting your team to solve problems without relying on you for every decision. Here’s how I train my team to handle issues independently:

  • 1: Identify the problem
  • 3: Present three possible solutions
  • 1: Recommend the best option

This method keeps my team thinking critically, taking ownership, and reducing decision bottlenecks—so I can focus on growing the business instead of micromanaging.

  • If a task takes less than five minutes? I do it immediately.
  • If it takes longer? It goes on my task list or is scheduled in my calendar.
  • Calendar blocking + ruthless prioritization = no more drowning in to-dos.

This system has helped me scale Northern Primrose, manage multiple projects, and actually enjoy life—without burnout. And trust me, it works.

Each week on Efficiently Ever After, I’ll be sharing the strategies, frameworks, and real-world lessons that help business owners scale without chaos.

  • How to create systems that keep your business running smoothly
  • How to build a team that truly owns their work
  • How to structure your time so you’re not constantly putting out fires
  • How to spot inefficiencies and fix them before they kill your momentum

I’ll also bring in expert guests who have cracked the code on scaling efficiently—so you can learn from their successes (and mistakes).

If you’re ready to get out of the weeds, delegate effectively, and finally create a business that runs without you, hit subscribe and let’s do this together.
