Finally, Melany understood that holding onto this relationship wasn’t just challenging—it was costing her the peace, joy, and self-respect she had fought so hard to reclaim. By the time Toni Bergins reached grad school, her life felt like chaos. Beneath the surface, she was grappling with the lingering effects of childhood trauma, which manifested in body image struggles, disordered eating, and self-destructive behaviors. She became consumed by exercise and dieting, using alcohol as a coping mechanism. Then, one day, Toni took a dance class—unlike any other. There was no choreography, no rules. As she ran freely around the room, Toni felt like a child again. She broke down, crying, unraveling—but she had loved every moment of it. This was Toni’s introduction to embodied movement—a form of raw, primal dance that encourages women to fully inhabit their bodies and embrace every emotion. Today, embodied movement is helping countless women heal from their trauma.
Toni Bergins is the creator of JourneyDance, a form of embodied movement which is helping women transform their lives. Buy her book Embody: Feel, Heal, and Transform Your Life Through Movement here https://shorturl.at/LCZJr You can find Toni via her website https://journeydance.com/ or look her up on instagram www.instagram.com/journeydanceofficial

Very few of us ever get the chance to read a Victim Impact Statement for the trauma we endured in childhood. But Diane did. Frustrated by the lack of understanding and terrifying statistics surrounding childhood sexual abuse, Diane made the courageous decision to go to the police and hold her abuser accountable. It’s a choice that comes with immense difficulty, as the path to justice is long and, as Diane shares with us, often skewed against the victim. Diane first shared her story on this podcast in 2022. Now, she returns to update us on her two-year fight for justice. To hear Diane’s original story go to episode 86. We all have parts of ourselves that make us human; sad parts, angry parts, combative parts. But what if your parts broke away and became individual identities? In this eye-opening episode, I had the privilege of sitting down with Maggie Walters, author of Split: A Life Shared: Living with Multiple Personality Disorder, to uncover the incredible story of how Maggie’s mind split into separate identities. Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder) is the result of extreme childhood trauma, causing the mind to split and split, again and again. Maggie reveals the chilling moments from her past that led to her dissociation and allowed her alter personalities to take over. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s truly like to live with multiple personality disorder, this episode will leave you speechless. TW Trigger warning, themes of sexual abuse are discussed in this episode.
