The only way to get the work done is to do it--not reading about it, talking about it, or researching about it. But these things make us feel like we're making progress on the work.
Although planning and learning is necessary, it leads nowhere unless it's paired with action--small gritty steps every day that accumulate into success.
In this episode, I give you questions to ask yourself to help you pinpoint any "fake work" you're getting stuck on to avoid the real work and habits to get into to take on the work you want/need to do.
Parents, we all have good intentions, right? But when we coach our kids on careers, we often get tunnel vision and talk mostly about money. This episode gives you 10 questions to ask your teens to help them think about what they want out of life in general, what they value, and what they envision their lives to look and feel like.
You're giving them permission to think for themselves and flex their self-awareness muscle, which will serve them well all their lives.
Schedule some time with your teens to ask them these questions and remind them to answer honestly--not how they think they "should" to impress you.
Having a healthy body that moves every day takes intentional planning and goals that work for you. Small consistent habits will turn into who you are, so you'll begin to crave vegetables and exercise without relying on elusive willpower.
As is the case with everything in life, it's all about balance and figuring out what you need to make it enjoyable, so treating your body right becomes sustainable and not just a passing fad that makes you feel defeated when you give up.
No need to overhaul your life and make big changes overnight. That almost never leads to lasting change. Choose one of the 5 ways I list and stick with it for 3 months and observe how your brain and body slowly and steadily react.
Investing in better health today and instilling this value in our kids is worth it to lead to more overall contentment, joy, and focus in life.

People get nervous around the word "meditation," so in today's episode, I'm rebranding it. Let's just call it "quiet along time," so you can be free to make it yours.
Sitting alone in silence just for 10 minutes a day can help your brain find more focus and direction and release some anxiety.
If you make this part of your daily routine, you'll start to notice small changes over time that can snowball into bigger changes, all by sitting in silence with yourself.
Everyone loves to be noticed and to feel the work they're doing is recognized and appreciated, right? But we need to stop and ask ourselves if that's the main reason we're doing things.
When we continually seek external validation, we are essentially giving ourselves to others. We are doing things to impress them, but if we switch gears to do things for internal validation--to light up our values and purpose--our life feels drastically different.
Praise and compliments are great, but they land better when we're running on all cylinders and we feel we're doing things for the right reasons. In other words, compliments are the icing on the cake, rather than the elusive goal we seek to find.
It's getting harder and harder to stay focused, especially as the world throws more distractions and noise at us. In this episode, I walk you through 5 easy ways to start wrangling the caffeinated squirrel in your brain, so you can not only focus on your work but also start enjoying your work.
Being more focused takes daily practice and when you combine all 5 steps, there's no way you're not going to find yourself focusing more and giving in to procrastination less.
Once you know what lights you up and how you best show others who you are, it's time to put action to that knowledge. We all get stuck, wondering what our purpose is, but there's nothing like action to help you get moving to figure it out.
Your purpose in this life doesn't have to be earth-shattering or impressive--your purpose is to be your best self and live authentically. We pick up clues along the way, but the only way to do that is to take action and to check in with ourselves.
As always, I give you a homework assignment to help you transform today and do it again tomorrow.
Do you ever feel you have no idea what your purpose is in life? Good news: It's easy to uncover if you ask yourself a few questions and look at your life with fresh eyes. Your purpose can be several things, and it doesn't have to mean you make money from it. Purpose is how you show up as your unique self and share your gifts with others. This episode will walk you through 3 easy questions to discover what that means in your life.
Serving others is a core ingredient to having a meaningful life, but that doesn't give us an excuse to not also care for ourselves. In this episode, I give you 7 small things you can implement each day to make serving others more joyful, even when it can be exhausting. No shame in admitting that!
When you think of living a minimalist lifestyle, maybe you think of getting rid of all your possessions, but it doesn't have to be that drastic.
Minimalism means finding more focus, choosing quality over quantity, and setting boundaries for what you're willing to let into your physical and mental space.
It can be as simple as organizing your time or being more intentional with your food. When you do these small steps, you start to feel like you're in the driver's seat, and anxiety starts to fade.
If you have an area of your life you feel is overwhelming, this episode will help you slow down and take a look at that area and figure out ways that work for you to implement small changes that lead to long-term transformation and less anxiety.
Especially for introverts, it's easier to stay home in our comfortable bubbles, but it is scientifically proven that humans need deep friendships and connections to enjoy better health and overall contentment.
So how do we do this? We put friendships as a priority in our lives. We push our comfort levels, while also understanding our personalities as we look for our tribe who will be there through life's up and downs.
If we don't put friendships and relationships as a priority, other things will take over, but life is better when it's shared.
We all sort of complain about having to go to work, right? But how would your life improve if you could find the value, joy, and purpose in your work?
Work is an essential part of being happy. To feel satisfaction and fulfillment by being a part of something bigger than you feeds your soul in a way that research shows is a big tool in happiness.
This episode explains how you can change your view of work, so you can find the good in what you're doing and change your lens to view work as a joy and privilege and not just something we suffer through until we retire.

I give you explanations of each practice along with ideas of ways to integrate them into your life in ways that don't make you cringe. As you set out to change and create an action plan, knowing what obstacles might get in your way is the first step to conquering them. We can start the journey with a boatload of motivation and excitement, but that might go away as people, ourselves, and our environment get in our way and crush the excitement. As usual, I encourage you to be real about the obstacles you know that are waiting for you, so you can step forward and over them.
The best way to reach a goal is to make the process become a part of you rather than something that is put ON you. When it feels forced or like something you really can't sustain, chances are you'll quit and walk away from the goal with a mouth full of bitter resentment. Set the bar low, so you don't choke on it! What's more important than having your goals come into focus is having YOU come into focus. This episode gives you practical ways and ideas to implement to start drafting a game plan to make the changes you crave in your life.
This is episode #4 (even though I accidentally say #3 in the recording) in an 8-part series about getting your life unstuck and experiencing breakthroughs, big and small. Today we talk about the power of anchoring your goals to your values to strengthen your focus, commitment, and clarity on WHY you want to reach a goal. As always, you'll get a homework assignment to do to help implement the concepts talked about in this episode to help you nail down your goals and dig deeper to figure out why you have those goals. When we do this, the success rate of reaching our goals becomes higher and the results are often longer lasting, so why not take a few minutes to think about it to set you up for success?
