YOGA, TURNING INWARD, AND BEING ALONE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT | Billie Asprey
Hopping on the podcast today is the wonderful Billie Asprey who is based down in Melbourne. Billie is a powerlifting coach, nutrition coach, athlete, and someone who is really in tune with themselves and their inner world; but the conversation today follows the journey of how she didn't feel that way a couple of years ago and how practising (and now teaching) yoga was the catalyst for it all. "YOU'LL GET MORE OUT OF THE SPORT THAN WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT" | Kimberly Walford
What an honour it is to be joined by a 7x IPF World Champion, Kimberly Walford! Kim is a household name when it comes to Powerlifting and also one of the most kind and humble lifters you will ever meet, which is why in 2019 her fans were confused as to why we weren't seeing her name on the 72kg IPF nominations list for Worlds that year. She joins me today to talk about what followed and how it felt to walk away with the title, how her spirituality crosses over into her lifting, and how she started in powerlifting back in 2001!   Follow Kim on Instagram here Find out more about our event here  Find your host here

LONGEVITY IN THE SPORT OF POWERLIFTING | Marisa Inda
Joining WSC today is the incredible Marisa Inda! Marisa won IPF worlds in 2017 and has broken many, many American records over the past 8 years of her lifting career. In terms of lifting and longevity, she is one of the greatest examples of someone who is at the top of their game and has been for a really long time. She has a great balance between doing specific work in her training and then switching things up to keep her motivated and interested and we spend some time today chatting about that and some errors she thinks other people may be making late into their powerlifting careers. We also have a good conversation about how she has managed her squat plateau over the past few years having not squatted 150 in competition again since 2017, and round it off discussing having a muscular physique and how she sets an example for her teenage daughter when it comes to people commenting on it.    Follow Marisa on Instagram here Find Marisa's website here Find out more about our event here Find your host here

Today we are joined by James Kuhn, a registered nutritionist and a lover of all things science when it comes to nutrition. We spend the episode talking about high return on investment factors in nutrition, different methods of dieting and what to pull from all of them, how stress impacts the body, navigating body image and dieting as a nutritionist, and round it out by chatting about protein intake. Nutrition is one topic that has A LOT of information online but also a lot of misinformation too. THE BETTER LIFE PROJECT | Sarah Doyle
Today I am joined by the WONDERFUL Sarah Doyle all the way from Ireland! Sarah is a life coach and founded the Better Life Project in 2014 and has since helped thousands of women work through blocks in their life to achieve their goals and potential I found Sarah 6 years ago and one of her previous podcasts really helped me sit through a rut that I was going through at the time. Her messages about happiness have stuck with me since then and I am so excited to be able to chat with her today about confidence and why its overrated, dealing with how others think of us and our decisions in life, and the social pressure to aspire to perfectionism and why its problematic.  Follow Sarah on Instagram here Find Sarah's website here Find out more about our event here Find your host here

YOUTUBE, OPINIONS, AND NAVIGATING AN IDENTITY CRISIS ONLINE | Megan Gallagher
An honest and incredible episode with a lady who has paved the way for many, many female lifters to get a barbell into their hands; today I am joined by Megan Gallagher who is known online as Meg Squats. Meg was one of the first people I followed after finding powerlifting in 2015 and is someone who I have followed religiously since. Though she has had many changes in her life in the 5 years, her mission of getting a barbell into women's hands has always remained. Today we speak about that mission and how its developed over the years, her identity crisis in 2018 and what led to it, drawing the line between Megan Gallagher and Meg Squats, and her coaching relationship with her now fiancé, Ryan. I loved everything about this conversation and want to thank Meg for both her time and honesty. This was an absolute full-circle moment for me and hope you enjoyed this conversation with someone who does so much for strength sports as much as I did. DEALING WITH INJURIES AND THE ROAD BACK TO THE ARNOLD | Kristen Dunsmore
Today we are joined by the incredible Kristen Dunsmore who is a coach for Juggernaut Training Systems and a very accomplished 63kg and 72kg lifter based in San Diego. Kristen had to make a really tough call at the 2019 IPF World Championships to squat 70kg as her first and ONLY attempt as she was dealing with a chronic glute injury. We spend the episode talking about that decision and how she felt about it, dealing with the rehab process and what that meant for her identity as a lifter, her transition to the 72kg class, and why her pain led to a period of burnout. There are so many takeaways from this episode if you are currently going through an injury, have rehabbed through an injury before, or you are a coach and wondering how best to approach an injury one of your clients has sustained! BINGE EATING, DIET CULTURE, AND THE NEVER-ENDING DIET CYCLE | Sarah Herstich
Today is a really important, yet challenging episode with Sarah Herstich. I say important because eating disorders and poor body-image are such big issues in society; and I say challenging because trying to unpack it all makes us question so much of what we believe, or are led to believe, about our bodies. Today Sarah joins me to chat about binge eating, diet culture and how it seeps into our day to day lives, how the body positivity movement can actually be quite problematic, intuitive eating and why its a great tool, and how we can start to teach the young women in our lives a new message about their bodies. It is a BIG episode and exactly why I wanted to start this podcast in the first place, to have the difficult conversations and bring them to you all in a digestible way. Today I am joined by Emma Hall of Vashti Performance. Emma is a registered psychologist who specialises in sports performance and today we go over COVID-19 and how to approach our goals and exercise during this time, negative self-talk and what to do about it, sports related anxiety, and round it off chatting about how to use language as a coach to positively influence our clients and their performance. IDENTITY, BODY IMAGE, AND MISSING WEIGHT AT WORLDS | Isabella Von Weissenberg
Isabella Von Weissenberg is no doubt one of the first names that comes to mind when you think strong female lifters in the IPF, and for good reason. Isabella has broken the squat world record EIGHT times in the u72kg class which is why we were all surprised in 2018 when she made the decision to the u63kg class. We talk about missing weight that year at the World Championships, the dieting process, disordered eating habits that can develop from a big weight cut, and fusing our identity with lifting. An important episode that takes a deep dive into the experience for Isabella and all she has learnt over the past few years being at the top of the game.
