I’ve been known to start every sentence with “I’m doing a PhD in body image”, which is true. But I haven’t always explained WHY I’m doing a PhD…
I mean, that’s a loaded question.
Is it so I can humble brag about barely making minimum wage whilst thinking I might be the stupidest person alive?
Is it so I can say ‘just what the doctor ordered’, when my ASOS package gets delivered?
It is because I have an unrelenting desire to achieve and prove my worth, and only by making it to the perceived pinnacle of academia will I convince myself that maybe I am a person of value? WHO KNOWS…
I mean the answer to all of those questions is a resounding “yes!”, but the real answer, the real catalyst for me studying relationship with food and body image in the fitness industry is a lot more simple…
And for once it’s not about me!
