Ever feel like the only conversations you hear are about 6- or 7-figure businesses?
In this solo ep, I'm breaking the silence on the reality of the five-figure business, a.k.a. the often-overlooked and actually most common segment of the UK's private sector. I challenge the "hustle bro" narrative, help you redefine success on your own terms, and reveal the common revenue traps that keep us business owners stuck.
I wrap up with a practical solution: a Real Hourly Rate Calculator, designed to help you smash those revenue ceilings without sacrificing your wellbeing.
You'll hear about:
Mic-drop moments:
“Here's a permission slip for you: only YOU get to decide if your business is successful.”
"The money that comes in is a tool that facilitates me to do the stuff I want. For me, it’s not a goal in and of itself."
“Rather than ‘can I afford to take time off?” can you afford NOT to take time off? Because otherwise what you are doing is pushing yourself towards burnout."

What if the reason you “never finish anything” wasn’t laziness… but wiring?
In this episode, I sit down with Nicola Thomas, ADHD coach and founder of the much-loved Finish It Friday sessions, to talk about how we can create structures that actually work for neurodivergent brains. Nicola shares her own unmasking journey, the importance of community, and why body doubling can be an absolute game-changer for people with ADHD.
We explore:
This is the pep talk you didn’t know you needed: equal parts validating, practical, and reassuring.
Magic Moments
In short, if you’ve ever stared at your to-do list and felt completely paralysed, this conversation will remind you: you’re not broken, you just need better tools (and maybe a body double).
You can find Nicola online at https://www.thebusybrain.co.uk/ or on Instagram @nicbusybrain.

In this episode, I am joined by ADHD coach Christian Ehmen to discuss his unconventional approach to working with founders and executives with ADHD. We explore the differences between traditional coaching and ADHD coaching, along with the critical importance of self-discovery and "inner work" before diving into business strategy.
Christian Ehmen is an ADHD coach who specialises in helping mission-driven founders and executives “get the fuck unstuck," gain clarity, and grow their businesses. His coaching philosophy is built on the belief that personal development is the foundation for professional success.
The Unconventional Approach
Christian shares what makes his coaching unconventional. While many business coaches focus on immediate, surface-level strategies like marketing and lead generation, Christian’s method starts with "inner work." He believes that for individuals with ADHD, a lack of self-awareness and emotional regulation often holds them back. He encourages his clients to understand their unique brain and how it functions, rather than jumping straight into goal setting. As Christian says, "You can't build a house on a shaky foundation." Another key part of the inner work is identifying your narratives and patterns. Christian uses the analogy of a "monster under the bed" as something you're afraid of, but once you get a peek at it, you realise it's not as scary as you thought.
The Problem with "Shoulds"
Our conversation also touches on the overwhelming pressure for business owners to follow a rigid set of rules or templates. For example, Social Media is filled with advice from "hustle bros" who often don't share a founder's circumstances, such as having children or other commitments.
ADHD Coaching vs. Traditional Coaching,
We also dive into the key distinctions of ADHD Coaching vs. Traditional Coaching, for example, how ADHD coaching provides an educational lens through which our clients can understand their unique challenges, such as executive dysfunction and emotional dysregulation. This helps them realise their struggles aren't personal failings but just characteristics of their neurotype. We discuss the importance of providing a judgment-free zone, where clients can drop their "mask" and be their authentic selves. This allows them to openly discuss their struggles and unique ways of doing things.
Finding the Right Coach
Finally, we share some advice on how to find the right coach for you, such as looking for a coach who is aligned with your personal values and has similar experiences or demands on their time. Their advice will be much more relevant to your life. We also discuss the importance of paying attention to how a coach makes you feel during an initial call.
Finally, we conclude with the powerful idea that investing in yourself is the best investment you can make. When you invest in your personal growth, you're not just improving your business; you're unlocking your full potential.

Why do unconventional minds need unconventional systems?
In this episode, I am joined Josh Budd, founder of Neuro Notion, to discuss the often-overlooked challenges of living with ADHD, in particular the critical need for better post-diagnosis support. Diagnosed at age 10, Josh shares a bit about his own ADHD journey and explains why traditional, "neurotypical" systems often fail those with ADHD.
We dive into the philosophy behind his innovative platform, Neuro Notion, which is designed to be “frictionless” for overwhelmed ADHDers. Josh explains how the app allows its users to "brain dump" tasks verbally, which are then organised and prioritised in a way that works with the ADHD brain, not against it. We explore his call for better post-diagnosis guidance and a shift towards more inclusive, ADHD-centric systems in education and the workplace.
This is a powerful conversation about reimagining productivity, embracing ADHD strengths, and creating solutions that don't just accommodate, but fundamentally celebrate neurodiversity.

Is it possible to build lasting, sustainable habits with an ADHD brain? What does ‘work with your brain, not against it’ actually look like in practice? And crucially, how can that help you live and work better? Oh, and what on earth does a smorgasbord have to do with ADHD!?
I answer all these questions and lots more in this short, snappy but powerful episode designed to help you put self-compassion into action and understand what really works for you (and what doesn’t!) We dive into:
If you are still beating yourself with the ‘consistency’ stick and telling yourself ‘I just can’t stick to anything’, this episode is for you my friend!

Forget hustle culture. What if building wealth didn’t mean working harder, but thinking differently?
This week, I’m joined by Aleksandra Kohut, a money mentor who helps women pay themselves more and build businesses that actually support their dream lives (instead of draining them dry). From corporate accountant to digital nomad, Aleksandra has rebuilt her entire relationship with money and she's here to help us do the same.
We chat about:
This one’s part permission slip, part pep talk, and 100% fire.
Mind Blowing Moments
“You don’t need more money to find freedom. You need to make a decision.”
“If you were told you weren’t good at maths, you probably believe you’re not good with money — but the two aren’t the same.”
“Scarcity and abundance are just two ways of looking at the same situation. You get to choose.”
So if you're ready to feel empowered instead of anxious about money and build a business that gives more than it takes, this episode will change how you think, spend, and show up.

Join your host Siobhan Fox and Kate La Trobe - ADHD coach, neurodiversity consultant, fangirl of self-awareness, and all-around legend - to redefine success, learn how to parent neurodivergently - and have fun along the way!
This one’s for the neurodivergent souls, the non-linear thinkers, and the parents just trying to figure it out as they go. In this powerful and refreshingly honest conversation, I sit down with Kate Latrobe — ADHD coach, neurodiversity consultant, and former client turned forever friend — to talk about working with (not against) your brain, parenting with curiosity, and running a business without boxing yourself in.
We cover:
Plus: we ask the real questions, like “What do you want to achieve in this season of your life?” and admit that sometimes January is just a no for us.
Magic Moments
“You’re going to have an ADHD brain for the rest of your life. Coaching won’t change that—but it can change how you live with it.”
“Am I having fun? That’s my number one metric. Everything else flows from there.”
“If I could wave a magic wand, I’d wave my job out of existence. I don’t want to have to teach people about neurodivergence—I want them to already get it.”
In short, this episode is a must-listen for anyone navigating neurodivergence, redefining what success looks like, or just trying to build a life and business that feels good, not just “productive.”

- Why curiosity is a superpower for neurodivergent people (and how to reclaim it).
- How years of misdiagnosis led to chronic burnout and what changed when Lauren finally found the
right lens!
- The hidden cost of masking.
- Why societal “shoulds” are making so many of us unwell.

Do you ever feel like your emotions are dialled up to 100?
This week, we’re making friends with our feelings alongside the brilliant mental health professional Lucy Hine, from Have A Word.
We explore the intense emotional landscape of ADHD and ask: are our feelings really just bigger, or is there more going on beneath the surface?
Lucy shares her own journey of self-discovery, revealing how childhood illness and understanding her ADHD has shaped her life – from a late diagnosis to redefining her emotional world.
We chat about the connection between trauma and neurodivergence, and the bumpy but beautiful road to self-acceptance. As Lucy shares: "It’s my ADHD that makes me different, because nobody has a brain like me and perceives the world or the situation like me."
Ever felt like your emotional reactions don’t quite “fit” the situation? You’re not alone. We dive into emotional intensity, dysregulation, and how these patterns can show up in relationships. Could our sensitivity even shape who we attract?
We also explore the importance of emotional self-awareness, co-regulation (especially in parenting), and gentle strategies for tuning into your feelings with curiosity, not judgment.
Ready to embrace your emotional world instead of battling it? This episode is for you.
Find out more about Lucy here.
Do you feel like you’re either up or down and never in the middle!? Do you tune in with your emotions and express them, or bottle them up?
In this episode of the Unconventional Business Podcast, join me to talk all things emotions. We get stuck into the emotional experience of ADHD - the highs, the lows and everything in between! Emotional regulation can be tricky for ADHDers and I want to shed some light on some of the key ingredients of the feelings cocktail, including the impact of your brain function, co-occuring conditions, difficulties identifying emotions - and just being a human in today’s world!
In this ep, I offer a more empowering alternative to emotional regulation, centred around accepting and making space for emotions rather than trying to regulate them (and feeling like a failure when that feels impossible!) I also talk through some practical strategies for managing emotions include crying, movement, singing, journaling, and seeking support from friends or therapists.
Ultimately, I want to encourage you to view your ADHD as a difference rather than a deficit. Embracing your emotional experiences rather than trying to control or ‘regulate’ them is actually the key to flattening your ’spiky graph’ and living a calmer, more peaceful life.

This week, I'm chatting with the wonderful Wendy Gannon, incredibly talented photographer and 'Queen of angles' – a title given by others, she insists (although I reckon she should totally claim it!). In this ep, Wendy and I have a refreshingly honest conversation about her ADHD journey. We explore the initial realisation, the decision (or indecision!) around seeking a diagnosis, and the often frustrating process of actually getting one.
Wendy shares her experiences of navigating the 'Right To Choose' pathway within the NHS, the challenges of lengthy waiting lists, and the importance of self-advocacy. We also delve into the impact of ADHD on her life, the importance of community and self-compassion, and what she's learned along the way.

I’m tackling a big question: Why don’t ADHDers ask for help?
As someone who has been hyper-independent for most of my life, I’ve come to realise that this isn’t a strength - it’s a response to trauma. Many ADHDers struggle to reach out for support, whether in life, business, or personal relationships, and my intention for this episode explores is to explore why that might be and crucially, what we can do about it.
What you’ll discover in this episode:
How hyper-independence develops and why it’s not always a good thing.
The hidden shame and beliefs that stop ADHDers from seeking support.
Why we’re not supposed to do life alone (and how history proves it).
The real-life challenges myself and my ADHD clients face daily.
How to start identifying the help you need and overcoming the guilt of asking for it.
Small, practical steps to lighten your cognitive load and reduce overwhelm.
If you’ve ever thought, “I should be able to handle this on my own,” this episode is for you!
