Trigger Warning: This episode references war, famine, starvation & rape.
We are back this week to discuss something extremely important & sensitive that could not wait until the season resumes.
We're unpacking the dark side of food, not as sustenance, but as a weapon. From the longstanding famine crisis in Sudan to the escalating emergency in Gaza, we explore how food scarcity is not always accidental, but often a deliberate tool of war and control. What exactly is a famine? Why does it happen and what makes it so devastating? Join us as we confront the politics of hunger, the human cost of food insecurity, and why recognising the true causes of famine is only the first step toward justice & change.

For this very special Juneteenth episode, Harleigh and Malaika were joined by James Beard Award winning activist, social commentator and HBCU alumni KJ Kearney. KJ breaks down the difference between THE cookout and A cookout, explains the variations in soul food across America and sets the record straight on if there raisins in the potato salad.
Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, over two years after it was issued.

We pulled up a barstool for this week's episode, diving deep into the heart of UK pub culture — from the sticky floors of old locals to the gleaming surfaces of modern gastropubs. We explore the pressure of after-work pints, how "just one" can turn into four, and whether the ritual of team drinks is still alive. With Gen Z drinking less than any generation before them, we ask "are we ditching the pub for Pilates?" . We’ll also look at some of the best pubs serving up seriously good grub (apparently), because if you’re not drinking as much, you might as well eat well!

More than just a collection of recipes, Caribe is a celebration of Caribbean heritage, ancestral wisdom, and the power of storytelling through food.
Keshia shares the personal journey behind the book—how growing up in a multi-island household shaped her palate, the ways colonial and diasporic histories are baked into Caribbean cuisine, and why honouring culinary roots is an act of resistance and reverence.

Is it chic.. or chic-ken? On today’s episode, we dig into the delicious intersection of fashion and food — two cultural forces that have always influenced the way we express ourselves, but are now more intertwined than ever. From Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS launching a pop-up ice cream truck in L.A., to Jacquemus serving up pastries with their runway looks, luxury and lifestyle brands are tapping into our appetites, quite literally.
What does it mean when a brand sells both a bodysuit and a cookie? Is this just clever marketing, or something deeper; a shift in the way we consume identity, pleasure, and aesthetic? We explore how fashion is using food not just as a prop, but as an emotional connector, a sensory invitation, and a tool for soft power. who’s doing it well, and who’s just… playing with their food?

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), a founding member of the BDS movement, said: "Stormzy's call for Palestinian freedom in the early stages of Israel's genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, when few artists were speaking out, displayed a clear stance in support of all oppressed people."
But it added: "Partnering with corporations that are implicated in genocide, apartheid and military occupation can only whitewash those crimes." (Sky News)
