Black X-Mas (2006)

Merry Belated Christmas from me and my sinus infection! This week we talk the 2006 remake of 1974's Black Christmas, directed by Glen Morgan and starring Katie Cassidy, Lacey Chabert, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michelle Trachtenberg, Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, Oliver Hudson, and Andrea Martin.

On Christmas Eve, a sorority celebrates the holiday with a Secret Santa where the bitchy yet iconic sisters discuss holiday plans and enjoy each other's company, however, things begin to appear off as multiple girls disappear, and the girls begin receiving ominous and threatening phone calls throughout the night. When one of the girls' boyfriend shows up along with one of their sisters, no one can be trusted, and with the house's demented history following serial killer Billy, there's no telling who could be after them? Has Billy come home? Will the girls survive the holiday? Did Lauren drink ANY water?

Black Christmas (1974)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Let's take a look at this festive horror gem of 1974, Bob Clark's Black Christmas. This film stars Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, John Saxon, Andrea Martin, and Kier Dullea.

It's Christmastime, and the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority is celebrating with a party. The vibe of the evening is killed shortly after a horrific phone call from a repeat offender they named "the moaner." After one of their sorority sisters, Clair,  goes missing, the girls join together with the help of Clair's father in order to find her, but there's still a killer on the loose, and he stalks and takes the house out one by one. Along with these terrors, Jess finds herself to be pregnant, and her very much controlling and loose cannon boyfriend seems to have thoughts of how she should handle that situation, and he'll stop at nothing to have his way. Will the girls make it out alive? Will Clair be found? Did something happen in the park today?

Halloween (2007)

WELCOME BACK! In our first remake, we discuss Rob Zombie's interpretation of Michael and Laurie's story. This adaption stars Malcom McDowell, Scout Taylor Compton, Danielle Harris, Brad Dourif, and Tyler Mane.

Young Michael Myers is being raised in a very toxic household which tends to often be violent, he also seems to have a fun little fascination (NOT FUN) with killing small animals. On Halloween night, Michael snaps and kills off his alcoholic and abusive stepfather, and his sister and her boyfriend. Fifteen years later, Michael escapes captivity and returns to his hometown of Haddonfield to go on a rampage, and to find his baby sister. Laurie and her friends and family are caught in a web of violence and madness as Michael targets them mostly. Who will survive? Will Laurie make it out alive on Halloween night? Will Sherri Moon Zombie be making an appearance? (of course she is)

BONUS EP!!! Charlie's Angels (2000)

Hello Angels! Let's step away from the scares and discuss one of the most entertaining and fun rides which bent the typical spy film formula into something fun, colorful, and often times, nonsensical. We're talking McG's rendition of Charlie's Angels (2000), starring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lui, Drew Barrymore, Bill Murray, Tim Curry, Sam Rockwell, Tom Green, Luke WIlson, Matt Leblanc and a surprise appearance by Melissa McCarthy apparently.

This film follows super spies Dylan (Drew), Natalie (Cameron), and Alex (Lucy) in a reimagination of the popular 70's television series of the same name. These girls work well together, and they have a very dynamic and strong friendship which helps them even more. The girls work with their unknown boss, Charlie, along with their handler Bosley (Bill) as they attempt to rescue tech genius Eric Knox (Sam) and recover his technology, stolen by a tech entrepreneur by the name of Roger Corwin (Tim). With twists and turns throughout, this case is not as is may seem. Will they succeed in rescuing Knox? Will they recover his tech? Is this the most star studded cast ever known?

This week, we take a look at this gorgeous yet terrifying coming-of-age film following a young girl who is being...followed. Let's talk 2014's It Follows, directed by David Robert Mitchell, starring Maika Monroe and Kier Gilchrist,

Jay (Maika) is a normal girl living in a Michigan suburb (like me!), but her whole life is flipped upside down when she is passed a curse which causes a force that nobody but her can see. Jay must not only be smart, but quick to get away from this thing, and the only way she can rid of it is to pass it on. With the help of her friends, Jay tries to put an end to the entity that is following her, all the while trying to avoid it catching up to her. Will Jay escape it? Will the entity eventually catch up to her? Will she pass it on? Will Paul finally get the girl-cue eye roll-

X

I'M BACK! And we're gonna talk about "one effed up horror picture", 2022 Ti West's X. This film stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Kid Cudi, Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, and...Mia Goth.

A group of filmmakers in Texas looking to shot a porn flick find the perfect filming location in a guest house on the property of an older couple on a farm. The husband is untrustworthy of our filmmakers but appears harmless, but there's something about his wife who he claims is not well and gets out at night some times. The group have fun and work to create the greatest adult film since Debbie Does Dallas, but when night falls, the group soon discovers that the older woman, Pearl (Mia) may be a little more threatening than she appears. Will our group survive the bloody and...horny night? Will Miss Maxine become a star? Will I ever stop praising Jenna Ortega? Probably not!

We soon discover that Leena is more than she appears, and is able to bring the girls back...with dire consequences. Cursed (2005)

Get ready to be CURSEDDD…and have 28,000 rewrites just to flop in the box office because you’re a misunderstood film. We’re talking 2004’s Cursed if you haven’t guessed, directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson (mostly:/) starring Christina Ricci, Jesse Eisenberg, Judy Greer, Joshua Jackson, Portia de Rossi, Milo Ventimiglia, Mya, and Shannon Elizabeth.

Siblings Jimmy (Jesse) and Ellie (Christina) are in for a real change when they get into a car accident and are attacked by a creature which Jimmy believes to be a werewolf. Jimmy is an awkward kid bullied by his coed Bo (Milo), while Ellie works a high-end job with publicist Joanie (Judy) and also juggles a relationship with moody nightclub owner and playboy Jake (Joshua). As the two begin to notice changes in their appearance and appetite, these siblings have to come together to figure out who cursed them, and how to stop it from turning them forever. Will they lift the curse? How much better could this original film have been? And how many times will I reference Mya even though she only has five minutes of screentime?

Through glances into their past, we discover just what pulled this family apart, along with the truth behind the mirror. Is the mirror magic? Is Kaylie imagining things? How many times will I reference Opulence by Brooke Candy because “opulence” sounds like “oculus”?

Review Wrap Up 1

HEY FRIENDS! This week’s episode is a little different, we’re going to look back at the films I’ve done recently to break down some critic ratings and reviews and comparing them to my own thoughts.

Film is subjective, and people have their own opinions which can, in turn, influence others’ opinions. In reading over some of these reviews, I’ve concluded that sometimes people can miss the entire point of a piece of art because they don’t understand what it’s trying to say. Can we find some reasoning for poor/low reviews and ratings, or even understand where the critics are coming from?

The Neon Demon

In our first ever FULL EPISODE, we discuss the controversial horror film by Nicolas Winding Refn, 2016's the Neon Demon. !!!!WARNING!!!! There are dark themes such as SA discussed in this episode, listeners please be advised.

This movie is one of my favorites, it's pretty and sparkly and many other queer/feminine adjectives! We follow the model and LA newcomer, Jesse (Elle Fanning) as she navigates the harshness of the beauty industry, and those within it who don't have the best of her interests in mind. While this movie is pretty, the story and characters can get downright ugly. Let's take a dive into this electric piece of art, The Neon Demon...electric, get it?;)
