Motherhood is beautiful—but it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting. If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in anxious thoughts, weighed down by perfectionism, or craving a slower, more intentional way of living, you are not alone.
Crocheting Through Emotions is a cozy podcast for moms who want to improve their mental health, reduce anxiety, and renew their mindset in everyday life. Each episode offers practical tools and gentle encouragement for overcoming overwhelm, managing stress, and shifting thought patterns.
Here, you’ll discover how creativity—like crochet, journaling, and reading—can become powerful outlets for emotional healing, self-expression, and stress relief. Together, we’ll explore how small, simple steps create big transformation: letting go of perfectionism, finding joy in the present, and learning to live with more peace and clarity.
Hi, friend! I’m Sigoni; military spouse, mom of 3, and recovering anxious perfectionist. For years I tried everything - self help books, productivity hacks, and organization systems while juggling family, home, and business. But behind the scenes, I was battling overwhelm, anxiety, depression, and burnout. My body was present, but my mind was always somewhere else.
It wasn’t until I stopped chasing what worked for everyone else and started looking inward that things began to change. I learned how to spot triggers, manage my anxiety, let go of perfectionism, and reconnect with God - all while using crochet and other hobbies to stay grounded, practice mindfulness, and relieve stress.
Now, life isn’t perfect (and never will be), but I finally feel less stressed, more calm, and living each moment in the present. On Crocheting Through Emotions, you will learn how to regain control of your mental health so you can live a slower, simpler life filled with curiosity, compassion, and confidence.
If you are tired of going through the motions, drowning in stress, and feeling paralyzed by overwhelm, this is the podcast for you.
Grab your yarn, or just a quiet moment for yourself. It’s time to stop going through the motions and start crocheting through those emotions - one stitch at a time.

If you’ve ever picked up your crochet hook and instantly felt calmer, you’re not imagining it. Crochet isn’t just a creative hobby — it’s a powerful form of self-care that can calm anxiety, ease depression, reduce stress, and even support your brain health.
Yes, you heard that right!
It’s one of those rare activities that helps your mind, body, and soul all at once — and science is finally starting to explain why.
Just a heads up, I did a LOT of research when preparing for this episode so if I sound all scientific-y, that’s why.
In today’s episode, I’m going to share studies that prove that crochet and other crafts are good for your brain and how it can relieve stress, anxiety, and even depression.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I’m just not good enough”?
In this episode, we’re diving into how anxiety actually works, why it tries to “protect” us by overthinking everything, and how those anxious thoughts can quietly shape the way we see ourselves.
Using the movie Inside Out 2 as a visual example, I share what happens when anxiety takes over and starts rewriting our core beliefs.
We’ll talk about how that happens, what it means for your sense of self, and how to gently take back control by befriending your emotions instead of fighting them.
If you’ve ever struggled with perfectionism, overthinking, or feeling like you’re losing touch with who you really are, this episode will help you see anxiety in a new light - not as the enemy, but as a part of you that just needs a little understanding.

Hey friend,
If you want to live a life you love, knowing your values is a good place to start. If you don't know your values (or you don't follow them) you could feel incomplete; like something's missing, or that you've lost your identity.
When I became a mom, my identity shifted to solely being a mom. Everything I did was to contribute to that purpose. And later I'll explain how I fell into a depression because of it - not because of being a mom but because of the mindset I had.
In today's episode, we will talk about:
what values are and how to determine your own
how living by other people's values can cause depression
4 questions to ask yourself to know what truly matters to you
how to start living by your values
I hope you enjoy today's episode!

Hey friend!
If I simply told you to read a book, what would you say?
If you're already a reader, you probably already know the major benefits it has on your mental health.
But if you're not, it’s either because you don’t have time to read or you just don’t enjoy it.
In today’s episode, I’m going to try and convince you otherwise.
We will talk about:
the 4 reasons reading fiction calms my anxiety and reduces stress
ways to fit in reading as a busy mom
reading to replace doom scrolling
how we all just want to be seen and validated
and much more
Grab your crochet project and a cup of joe! Let's crochet through those emotions.
Here are the fiction books I mentioned in today's episode (these are affiliate links):
Fourth Wing (The Empyrean Series) by Rebecca Yarros

Hey friend,
Are you feeling completely overwhelmed? I know exactly what that feels like and sometimes it gets so bad that I freeze and it becomes overwhelm paralysis.
For me, overwhelm is the cause of most of my anxiety. That is, until I started my stop, drop, and journal process which is what I will be sharing with you today!
I have lots of passion behind journaling and how important it is for mental health. If you give this method a chance, my hope is that it will prevent any negative self talk that always follows overwhelm paralysis.

Hey friend!
Today is a very special episode because I’m going to teach you how to crochet through your emotions! Which is obviously the name of this podcast.
Using crochet to process my emotions was the first major step I took to getting back in the drivers seat of my mental health. We’ll talk about what emotion processing is and why it’s important, how I personally started crocheting through my emotions, and how you can start to do the same.
It’s going to change the way you look at crochet forever. Crochet is not just a craft, it’s therapy for the soul.

Hey! I am so excited to share today's episode with you because it's our first episode on implementation. I'm here to share the 11 steps I took to regain control of my mental health and these are all things you can start doing in your own life. Most of them are very simple and easy to implement and I hope they help you start feeling more like yourself again.
Last year I completely burnt myself out and it resulted in 7 months of radical self care, where I took a huge step back to reprioritize my life. Seven months ago I was beyond stressed and overwhelmed and today I feel MUCH more relaxed and I’ve started to see life from a new perspective.
This is basically a giant overview of what we will cover in all episodes to come. It is the entire mission behind the Crocheting Through Emotions podcast; to get you from stressed and overwhelmed to feeling more in control of your mental health.
You’re gonna want to take notes for this one!
Your friend,
Sigoni
