Life doesn’t stop for our heartbreak. In this deeply personal episode, Elisha Maria Grey shares how she’s learning to keep her word to herself even while grieving the loss of her mother-in-law Winsome “NuNu” Allen.
Feel It. Then Do It Anyway is about showing up messy, tired, still healing and remembering that discipline and grace can coexist. Because strength isn’t pretending you’re fine; it’s carrying the pain and walking forward anyway.

It’s my 45th birthday. And Quiet…..
And for the first time, the silence feels heavy.
In this unfiltered, late-night episode of 40 Something and Nothing, I open up about spending my birthday three thousand miles away from my husband and family and what it means to crave connection after years of craving solitude.
This is a conversation about growth, distance, and the kind of loneliness that teaches you who you really are.
Press play if you’ve ever looked around on your special day and thought, “How did I get here?” And where is everyone else?

So I was listening to the Slay Girl Slay podcast with Ashley Leggs, and she asked a question that stopped me in my tracks:
Are you at home with yourself? Whew. 😩
In this little bonus episode, I’m talking about how, for me, it’s a little bit of both, some days I’m fully at home, other days I’m out here pretending to be.
Drive to work with me and let’s talk about finding our way back home.
Are you the “nice one” who always shows up even when nobody shows up for you?
In this episode of 40 Something and Nothing, host Elisha Maria Grey (44 going on 45 and accepting birthday wishes on Oct 17 😌🎉) breaks down the real cost of being too nice emotionally, financially, and spiritually.
We’re talking:
•💳 When “Sure, I got it” turns into “Why am I paying for everyone’s life but my own?”
•🧍🏽♀️ Being everyone’s emergency contact but having no one to call when you’re the one in need
•🙅🏽♀️ Learning that “No” is not mean, it’s maintenance
•💡 How to be kind without being used
With relatable boundary-setting tips, real-life stories (yes… including a ex and his parents 😩), and end-of-episode affirmations to refill your cup…. this one’s a must-listen for every recovering people-pleaser.
If you’re tired of being over-drafted in every area of life, this is your episode.
✨ Press play, protect your peace, and let “Sorry, I can’t” become your new love language.

This one’s for the people-pleasers, the peacemakers, and especially the women who’ve been told their whole lives to “be the bigger person.”
But let’s be real: sometimes being the bigger person just makes you the most drained person in the room.
In today’s episode, I’m breaking down why some folks just can’t be reasoned with and why trying to “talk it out” with someone who thrives on confusion and chaos will only leave you exhausted.
Because the hard truth is this: communication don’t cure crazy.
You’ll hear:
🔹 Why explaining yourself to the wrong people is emotional labor that goes unpaid
🔹 How “the high road” costs more than we think
🔹 What real maturity looks like (hint: it’s not endless self-sacrifice)
🔹 When to stop talking, start acting, and cut ties for good
If you’ve ever found yourself over-explaining, replaying arguments, or chasing closure with someone who just doesn’t get it — this episode is your permission to let that go.
✨ Take this as your sign to stop wasting words on the wrong people, protect your peace, and reclaim your energy.

Quick bonus episode!
Take a pause, breathe, and remember:
goodness and mercy are covering you
ALWAYS!
In this episode of 40 Something and Nothing, we’re diving into a struggle that so many of us know too well…. when everything feels like a priority and life is pulling you in a hundred different directions. If you’ve ever felt like your to-do list is running you instead of the other way around, this conversation is for you.
40 Something and Nothing was born out of the idea that hitting your 40s doesn’t mean you’ve got it all figured out. In fact, it’s often the season where you realize that “having everything” can feel like having nothing if you don’t know how to focus on what matters most. This episode ties directly into that truth: learning how to let go of the pressure to do it all, and instead moving with clarity, peace, and intention.
Together, we’ll walk step-by-step through a practical framework for prioritizing your priorities, so you can shift from chaos to calm. You’ll also hear affirmations sprinkled throughout to keep you grounded, confident, and focused because you deserve to thrive, not just survive.
By the end of this episode, you’ll know how to silence the overwhelm, utilize the Eisenhower Matrix, choose your “Big 3,” and feel accomplished at the end of the day without burning yourself out or feeling guilty about not getting everything done.
Don’t forget to share this episode with someone you feel that it needs to reach…..

In this episode of 40 Something and Nothing, I want to share something that completely shifted the way I see my life:
You are the projector, not the screen…..I open up about two of the most challenging seasons I’ve ever lived through being pregnant and homeless, and later, feeling like a failure from my first divorce.
In both moments, it was so easy to feel like the chaos, heartbreak, or failure I was experiencing was me. But over time, I realized that the screen doesn’t define me… I do. I am the source of the story, the light that shapes what shows up.This episode challenges you to pause, to really sit with your thoughts, and develop practical steps to start projecting the life you actually want.
I also listed a few affirmations below to help you rewrite your inner narrative so that you can be the most authentic, empowered, and joyful version of you:
Need to reach me? Here’s where you can find me:
Somewhere between careers, kids, and keeping it all together, a lot of us lose touch with that magnetic, playful, sexy part of ourselves. But here’s the truth — sexy doesn’t have an expiration date, and your 40s can be the sexiest decade yet.
In this episode, we’re talking about how to redefine what sexy means for YOU, build bold confidence, and turn up your energy.... without trying to look 25 again.
I have also created an e-book that goes together with today’s show where I share practical tips like “mirror moments,” flirting with life, and creating small pleasure rituals that make you feel alive.
The 7-Day Pleasure Project was created (with love) so you can put everything into action and start feeling magnetic right away.

💋 Affirmations:
• “My 40s are my glow-up years — and I get sexier every single day.”
• “Pleasure is not a luxury — it’s my fuel.”
• “I am bold, I am magnetic, and sexy is my mindset, not my age.”
✨ Season II - Episode IIAs we move through our 40s, friendships naturally shift and while true friends will always hold value, what many of us need now are allies. Allies are the people that I like to refer to as "Dream Keepers" , people who believe in your vision, support your growth, and push you to step into your purpose.
In this episode of 40 Something and Nothing, I share why allies matter more than ever especially now in my 40's, how to tell the difference between a friend and an ally, and how to begin building a circle of allies who will walk with you into your next chapter.
Sis you don't need a bigger circle, you need the RIGHT circle...
💡 Who are the allies in your life right now, and how can you show up as an ally for someone else?
✨ Affirmation: I easily attract allies who believe in my vision, support my growth, and celebrate my wins.

Girl, we are back with another episode here on 40 Something and Nothing and this week we are discussing how to increase our tolerance.
I personally struggle with staying the course and often times find myself quitting or letting go of something (and / or someone) before it even really has a chance to get started. Tough times, uncomfortableness, boredom, and frustration usually can cause me to want to jump ship before the boat even set sail.
It is my hope that this episode will help myself as well as someone else with learning to tolerate whatever situation we may be facing and still stay the course in spite of it.
Here’s to finishing what we start!

Girl, we are back with another episode here on 40 Something and Nothing and this week we are discussing the illumination of our paths.
As humans we always want to know where our lives are going, what are we doing, when are we doing it... The lists goes on.....
What we have to understand is that sometimes, more often than not, we will not have the full picture - there will be times where all that we will have is the illumination of just the very first stair and nothing more.
While we are in the moment trying to determine and control our outcome; what we fail to realize is; the light illuminating just the one stair is motion sensored, and the next stair in our journey is only illuminated once we have taken the first step.
Without Motion there is No Illumination....
In this episode we are discussing a few tips / concepts to hopefully help us take a step, a baby step, any step, so that little by little we can begin to build and climb our grand staircase built on a solid foundation.
Girl, I get it - climbing the stairs one step at a time can be rough and at times have us looking around for the nearest elevator, escalator, or exit door, but any difficult tasks can be easily accomplished when doing it with a friend - so if you need to reach out - do.....
And we will tackle these stairs together.

How can we overcome fear; especially when we know for sure that the current situation that we are in isn't working for us or causing us to be miserable.
In this episode we are discussing a few tips to hopefully help us navigate fear. Over the past 4 episodes we have been making a lot of changes but for some; change can be challenging as there can be a strong sense of fear in terms of venturing into the unknown. We will dive into understanding that our feelings of fear are valid but that we will never be able to overcome fear until we take action.
Listen, bring your fear along for the journey if you need to but we are not going to let fear stop us from going where we want to go.
And should you want some extra company while you're on your journey - I am already packed and ready to go!
Gurl, just let me know where to meet you :)

In this episode we are getting real about our leveling up journey and just how lonely and isolating it can be at times. It is my hope that from this episode you will start to see your isolation as gift instead of a curse, a time of reflection, and as an opportunity to learn more about YOU and become your own best friend. If your time alone is becoming a bit more than you can handle, always know that we are on this journey together so if you need to reach out......
