TW: dieting, disordered eating habits
Join me for a quick chat from my kitchen as we unpack why healing your relationship with food is the first step to lasting change. Inspired byThe Perfectionist’s Guide to Losing Control by Katherine Morgan Schafler, this short episode explores why quick fixes and meal plans don’t work if we’re still carrying deep-seated food beliefs. Let’s talk about patience, grace, and what real, sustainable change looks like.
FInding consistency in anything is hard in the midst of motherhood. Today we discuss how to find some semblance of consistency in exercise during this time of our lives and how to wrap our minds around those inevitable periods of inconsistency so we don't get stuck in that cycle of shame and guilt or completely abandon our movement altogether.
This episode begins a special series of episodes made in partnership with The Birth Network of Monterey County. We kick it off with an interview with the President, Gail Root.
With an M.A. in Pre & Perinatal Psychology in Health, and a B.S. in Child Development, she brings an impressive 50 years of experience in the field. Her multifaceted expertise spans roles as a parent coach, mom, grandma, entrepreneur, La leech league leader, IBCLC and much more, making her uniquely qualified to support your journey through parenthood.
In 1988, she founded Parents Place, a cornerstone for parental support in our community here in Monterey County. Her commitment to maternal and child well-being continued with the grassroots establishment of the Monterey County Maternal Mental Health Task Force in 2016. She founded and currently serves on the Board of the Birth Network of Monterey County as the President, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to the health and happiness of families.
As the program manager who set up the Parenting Connection of Monterey County, her leadership and vision have created lasting impacts. Her tireless volunteer work over the past 35 years was recognized when she was named Monterey County Outstanding Woman of the Year in 2002.
Today, she brings her extensive knowledge and compassionate support directly to your home through her parent coaching services known as Roots and Wings Parent Coaching.

TW: hospitalization and general talk about bodies and health experiences
Creating space for moms to share their stories, especially about their postpartum experience is incredibly important. We need to share our experiences and our wisdom as mothers and women. Join me in a conversation with Kristen, a new mom, who has honored us by sharing her story of her postpartum experience and a battle with a rare, unexpected virus. I loved speaking with Kristen- her sense of humor, her kindness and her wisdom radiates from her constantly.

This episode, I talk about a different way to start thinking about your movement practice. While we usually think starting to exercise means learning specific exercises and muscle groups, we're building a foundation rooted in respect for ourselves and our bodies. And today, we're thinking about whether we truly respect what we're doing on a daily basis. Because it's hard- both physically and mentally.

My first guest on the show! Kristina Anzell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a mom herself. She has a passion for people in the postpartum period and today we're talking to her about her experiences and thoughts around food and diet during the postpartum period. Food is a particularly sensitive subject during the holidays, so we talk about that about as well.
We will continue this conversation with even more tips and tools in our 5 day workshop, "Empower Your Holidays"- Click here to register: https://www.kristinaanzell.com/education/empoweryourholidays

This week, I have some tips on how to reclaim your time in your schedule. Learn how to find time to exercise when you have no time to exercise.
Taking up space and being an inconvenience to those around us can go against every fiber of our being (at least for some of us). Do you have a hard time asking for what you need? Do you have a hard time even taking up physical space?

This lovely month of May we're talking about Reclaiming our Space. This episode, I discuss what's stopping us from reclaiming our space while conducting a very realistic demonstration of that very thing. Podcast fail... but was it really? I did manage to get through the episode!
Self Care. Tired of hearing about it yet? Cant even bring yourself to consider it? Today I talk about why it might be hard for us to wrap our minds around the thought of taking care of our basic needs, let alone anything more than that.

How do you keep up exercise and good "self-care" throughout the ups and downs of parenting? You keep it simple, realistic and give yourself a whole lot of patience, grace and understanding.

Just a quick reminder that parenting/caregiving is no joke and it's hard to prioritize yourself when other humans are depending on you. That's it. Ok bye!
