In this episode, my guest is Rita Purdeen-Nandlal. Rita manages the Internal Audit function at Angostura Limited and is, at the time of publishing, the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the IIA. Rita is also a past president of the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of ISACA.
These and other roles, combined with her contributions as a mentor in our community, illustrate her deep commitment to our industry and to fellow professionals within it.
Rita’s belief in continuous learning is self-evident, as Rita“walks the walk”: her list of credentials includes an MBA, FCCA, CA, CIA, CISA and CRMA.
In this episode, we ask Rita what drew her to internal audit, and what drives her to serve the internal audit community year after year, role after role, mentee after mentee. She tells the story of what motivated her to get an MBA at this stage of her career, and how she plans on contributing to her company as a result of her research into supply chain management and sustainability. Linh’s expertise includes leadership and organizational culture, auditing with agility, building audit risk-based audit departments, and more. She is a professional speaker and author, and serves the audit community by mentoring and serving on advisory boards.
In this episode, we ask Linh what drew her to internal audit, and you’ll be shocked by her answer (hint: it involves the Vietnamese jungle and a gun).
