E6 Emotions and Energy

How we regulate our emotions and our energy determines to a great extent the quality of our lives. Unwanted emotions need to be recognized, acknowledged, understood and released. But what is often overlooked is that this is not enough.

We need techniques that take us one step further if we are to truly heal. Techniques that help us shift to a state of gratitude, joy and unconditional love. When we can access these states of being we become better at recovering from stress, at regulating our emotions and shaping our lives in a different way.

In conversation with my good friend and colleague Rebecca Gwynn-Jones I explain why this subject is important enough to me to make a very personal podcast about it.

My name is Elke Mastwijk I have a busy private practice in the town of Breda in the Netherlands. I teach the Alexander Technique method and work as a CranioSacral Therapist and Reflex Inhibition Therapist.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Rebecca Gwynn-Jones for her valuable contribution and input and to my partner Gijs Graafmans for the music and the editing.

Three decades of developing my sense of touch makes for a very interesting journey. In this episode I share how I was trained to use touch professionally. I give my take on the role and the importance of touch during an Alexander Technique lesson. I explain how I use touch during a craniosacral session to sense and release fascia restrictions and I how I work with animals. Last but not least I share what I feel through my hands in a Reflex Inhibition session.

E4 Tools | tuning forks and moxa

In my practice I use sound healing and moxibustion sticks. Tuningforks are an amazing tool for fascia release and (energy) healing. I use moxibustion to calm the nervous system and help reestablish a balanced functioning of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.

E3 Reflex Inhibition Therapy

Many of my clients have a deep wish to overcome adverse or traumatic early childhood experiences. One relatively unknown therapy I use to help them is Reflex Inhibition Therapy.

With this therapy I help clients integrate the so called primary reflexes (or primitive reflexes). These reflexes ensure early childhood development. But can cause problems if they stay active beyond a certain age.

Reflex integration is beneficial on many levels of everyday functioning and coping with stress. Find out why in this podcast.

My name is Elke Mastwijk I have a busy private practice in the town of Breda in the Netherlands. I teach the Alexander Technique method and work as a CranioSacral and Reflex Inhibition Therapist. In this podcast series I discuss the correlation between the techniques I use and how they have helped me, as well as my clients on our personal and professional journey through life.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Rebecca Gwynn-Jones for her valuable contribution and input and to my partner Gijs Graafmans for the music and the editing.

E2 CranioSacral Therapy

Pain and movement restrictions can originate from our fascia. Fascia tension often goes unnoticed but can have a deep effect on our health and wellbeing. In this podcast I explain how I came across CranioSacral therapy method and how I use it every day to release fascia and provide relief for people, horses and dogs.

E1 Alexander Technique

I believe our lives are shaped by what we fail to notice. It is from the subconscious that we often sabotage ourselves without knowing. But how to change that?

The Alexander Technique method can help you. During an Alexander Technique lesson you will explore if you are interfering with your own functioning. This happens more often than you think because we are creatures of habit. Once you are aware of habits that are not serving you, you can choose to change them if you wish.

My name is Elke Mastwijk, I have a busy private practice in the town of Breda in the Netherlands. I teach the Alexander Technique and work as a CranioSacral Therapist and Reflex Inhibition Therapist as well. In this podcast series I discuss the correlation between the techniques I use and how they have helped me and my clients, on our personal and professional journey through life.
