In de podcastserie ‘Over Datum‘ gaat Carolien Borgers op onderzoek uit en gaat dieper in op leeftijd en vrouwelijke schoonheidsidealen. Want wat ís het toch met die angst om oud te worden? Het is de vraag die Carolien zichzelf stelde toen ze afgelopen jaar veertig werd. Waar komt het vandaan en waar is ze nou precies zo bang voor? “Vroeger dacht ik, ik word 34 en daarna sterf ik – dan houdt alles op”, vertelt ze. “Dus ik vroeg me af of het draaide om het verlies van ‘erbij horen’, of dat het afnemen van mijn vruchtbaarheid betekent dat mijn aantrekkelijkheid ook verdwijnt. Toen begon ik bewuster te letten op wat mij de hele tijd wordt verteld over ‘ouder worden’, gewoon op dagelijks niveau. Het is echt wálgelijk. Soms subtiel, soms heel duidelijk: hele algoritmes worden gevuld met cosmetische ingrepen en ‘vermindering van fijne lijntjes’. Waar gaat het hier mis? Waarom wordt er zo ingespeeld op onze onzekerheden?” Het inspireert Carolien tot het maken van Over Datum, waarin ze met meer dan twintig BN’ers en experts het gesprek aangaat over schoonheid. Hoe komt het dat we jeugdigheid als fantastisch zijn gaan zien, en ouderdom als iets vreselijks? Maar ook vooral: “Hoe kan ik voor mezelf tot andere inzichten komen als het gaat om ouder worden? Dát is de zoektocht.”

In Zuslife balance gaan wij, Dyanne en Amanda Beekman, wekelijks in gesprek over ons leven op persoonlijk én zakelijk vlak. Hoe houden wij als werkende vrouw en moeder alle ballen in lucht? Iedere aflevering starten we met een cijfer voor de worklife balance in ons eigen leven. Daarnaast bespreken we een zakelijke en persoonlijke stelling – waar we het in veel gevallen absoluut níét over eens zijn.
