وعلى هامش قمة التنمية الاجتماعية في قطر، تقام فعالية بعنوان: "تسريع إدماج الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة عبر الركائز الثلاث للتنمية الاجتماعية".
أخبار الأمم المتحدة أجرت حوارا مع فاطمة الجاسم الناشطة والمستشارة في مجال تمكين أصحاب الهمم - ذوي الإعاقة- والتي تعمل مع الحكومات والمؤسسات والأفراد لدفع عجلة التنمية الدامجة.
وصفت الجاسم قمة التنمية الاجتماعية في الدوحة بأنها "قمة للأمل بمستقبل أفضل بالنسبة للأشخاص من ذوي الإعاقة"، مشيرة إلى أن الأشخاص من ذوي الإعاقة يعلقون آمالا على نتائجها.
وأضافت قائلة: "أهم أمر بالنسبة لي أن الأشخاص من ذوي الإعاقة موجودون هنا يمثلون أنفسهم ويبنون مع بعض مستقبلا أفضل للكل".
