“ Pivots are power steps towards your dreams “
Robyn Koenig ( @rarefind_love ) would seem to be tumbling through life without aim. With experiences in fashion, business executive, podcaster, coaching and the nonprofit world. But if you look closely and get to know her, you see no matter what her profession was, her focus never truly changed.
We dive right in on this one and confront some of peoples major “trip ups” in life. Fear, judgment and lack of confidence can cause people to make decisions or focus on things that wont get them closer to what they really want. In fact a lot of times we’ve forgotten what the things we really want are and that's why Robyn highly recommends we often revisit the things that make us happy and bring us joy in life.
One of the subtle things we talk about is paying attention to how you show up to situations and tasks. Do they make you anxious, angry or happy. If they cause negative emotions and energy learning to recognize it, and then develop tools to snap you out of could dramatically impact your life.
She sees O.S.M.s ( Oh shit moments ) as opportunities, they tend to be loaded with large amounts of action. She also reminds us its okay to make room to be angry because it's real and we can use it to get moving, but you cant get stuck in anger.
Robyn is a wonderful coach with many tools and mechanisms to help you get out of your own way and move towards the things you want in life. Besure to use the links and tools below to connect with here.

“ I didn't always know if I was choosing something based off fear or ego, or based on what I wanted deep down in my soul “
Anna Zambreny ( @annasintuitive ) noticed that people were reaching physical and fitness goals they had but still weren't that happy. This is what drove her to find ways to incorporate spiritual/self love practices into her personal training so others can feel the true happiness they are looking for.
Since this discovery she has really shifted the way she not only handles adversity but how she communicates the experiences. “ talking more openly about experiences without shame to open the doors for others “ is how she explains her willingness to be vulnerable . That's why she shares her story on her blog and podcast, in hopes that she can give you a better chance of connecting with your higher self and becoming aligned spiritually, physically and mentally.
We learn many things during our conversation. How a lot of anxiety is triggered by overindulgence and inflammation of the body. Sometimes anxiety isn't even our own, it can belong to the people around us or the environment we are in.
There are so many other things in this episode so I hope you’ve listened to the whole thing. Anna even surprises Kevin with a Tarot reading, a first for our podcast host.

Amanda Alexander has found an unique way to use the principles and skills she learned in creative writing and apply them beyond the scope of pen and paper. “ business is the same way. Its about a story you're trying to tell and there's many ways to get there. I really love the logistics of that “ She later tells us how much she enjoys business for all the personalities and backgrounds coming together to solve problems.
Growing up with her father owning hardware stores, she has always been shown there is another way than the traditional 9 to 5 and its okay to carve your own path. Now she helps developing business leaders with the Orr Fellowship program. Where people go through a vigorous 2 year post grad program. They help you become the leader you want to be while keeping the local community and businesses in mind.
It is here that she was able to start the Overdressed and UnderQualified podcast in partnership with the program where she now works to make a stand alone production. Still paying homage to its ties to Orr Fellowship but creating its own voice, personality and culture. At OU they interview top business leaders to reveal the things they learned in the beginning of their careers.
Amanda took the time to share some of the lessons she's learned along the way so far:

Carson Ashley ( @nosracmusic ) Comes to us from the west coast of the USA but his story didn't not start there. He grew up in the much more conservatice environment of Indiana. His girlfriend was the one who gave them the push to test their comfort zone and move across the country.
Online he is more well known as Nosrac Music which is Carson spelled backwards, a name he came up with playing Star Wars that just seemed to stick in the online world.
As his name would elude, Carson is a musician, he entertains his fans playing his guitar but he got his first big taste of success building short skits and comedy on the app called Rumbl, which is now called Rizzle. He captured 2nd place during the Brooklyn 99 competition and now goes back and forth taking on more camediac adventures and playing music.
He did always start off being as confident as he seems on social. He grew up with difficulties speaking and went through speaking classes. His speaking teacher was one of the first people to push him to take a chance on whatever he wanted to be.
Carson encourages others when building their own brand or audience that “ no one is really paying attention, they are going to go home and lay in bed thinking about their own drama “ He says to grow big you have to engage and have fun. Actually become friends with people. He also lets us know that if you are trying to really grow big it takes alot fo work. “ a 60 second skit can take up to an hour of research and practice “

Troy Holt ( @troy_talks ) has spent 20 years developing a craft. He makes it appoint to think outside of the box and make a lasting impression.
He would pass out two cards and tell people “don't keep me a secret” a standard way to stand out and think outside the box.
The real secret sauce, Troy cares about the people he meets. He puts them first, takes the time to build a lasting relationship with. He pays attention to birthdays, anniversaries, and even the harder things like the loss of a loved one. Its part of his Two C's approach. Celebration and Consolation.
People want to be noticed and appreciated, he tells us. “ people aren't going to change their humanity just because they are online” this is how he thinks about sales and marketing online. He uses all the same skills and training he’s acquired over the last 20 years face to face and re-applies them online.

Chad Bourquin ( @chadbourquin @bigtimegrainco ) pushed because he found what he loved and wasn't going to let the people who told him it would never work win.
During an unlikely event, a high school assembly, Chad first encountered his passion. A friend urged him to learn guitar after the performance at the assembly so they could start their own band. Even though the path has changed many time, he always kept his love for music in mind
When you look at where Chad is now its easy to assume the path was success after success after success. But behind every skill and talent comes a story or discomfort and forced learning. Chad did learn to play guitar to be in that highschool band. They all practiced 2 songs for 6 months and after all that work, his friend whose idea it was to start the band together, replaced him and started with another group because Chad wasn't that good yet.” There were even times when his own father discouraged him from pursuing music and suggested building a backup plan
“ Its important to understand the difference between a back up plan and a supporting plan” Chad tells us “ a supporting plan is something you do in the interim that helps you get to your bug goal or dream as to where a back up plan is something you do out of fear “ He credits some of his greatest lessons and moments of supporting skill development from some of his “ supporting plans “
We cover so much in this episode like the great work Chad and his brother Bret with the Big Time Grain Company, their band and project to help others discover their own inner rock star. The Dream Big Series and we only touch on how they played for a crowd of 800,000 people in Kansas City after the Royals won the World Series.

Adam Sinkus ( @adamsinkus ) is a leadership and culture guru. He works with businesses to drive real change and increasing profits along the way.
Adam like most of us would go to work everyday, seeing many things wrong with how people were managed, trained and worst yet, how people felt about being at work. Instead of spending everyday dreading having to come back he decided to do something about it.
Being a lifetime student of leaders and business information he realized the missing piece at most companies was culture and leadership training. He explains to us how normally the guy with the best metrics gets promoted but more often than not they lack the leadership skills to drive results with his or her team. This causes them to become the “ dictator behind the desk “
He decided to take the best of what he’s learned and package into a digestible formula he calls ACES leadership and helps train other companies on how to not only groom their leaders but then teach those leaders how to shape the culture of the business.
What is ACES ?
A: cknowledgement -
C: ultivating, training and up skilling those who want to grow
E: mpower your team
S: trengthen and learn from/celebrate successes
How do you do that? Well you’ll have ask him directly
One thing that he really contributes to his success that comes up many times during our talk is niching down, starting small and being patient.

“ those who say something can't be done are usually the ones who don't want to do it “
Michael Rocharde has spent a large part of his life traveling the world, on thing that has always remained the same is his desire to create better solutions for people and business.
In 1987 Michael found himself visiting home in England to help his mother with the passing of his father. While there a friend reached out hope Mike could help build a database for his business. During this time is when Mike decided that File Maker and database solution software/tools would be the focus of his professional life.
Mike learned chess from a young age from his father, it taught him how to strategize, think on his toes, how to play offense and defense. It seems that those experiences have helped mold the vision he currently has for NautilusFM. “ spreadsheets are terrible for a business, you have this information and a different spreadsheet for a different set of information and none of talk to one another. “ With nautilus, you have a single screen so you never have to leave “ homebase” and keep it easy to not get lost behind the never ending flood of windows being open. The best thing is he even made it open source so people have the ability to build upon and improve his framework to meet their own needs. In short Nautilus condenses the time it would take to make database software.
Its amazing how many experiences Mike has been able to have, working with some many different companies and industries while traveling the world. He drives results by focusing on user experience while increasing operational efficiency to increase profits.

“ in the world of analytics and data, there is too much fog covering the few things that it actually takes to win “
Adam Laor (@adamlaor ) never seem to fit in with normal crowds doing normal things. At the nimble age of 17 he has been taking the world by storm by trusting his gut and going down the paths that he deems best.
He is always studying, not in the traditional sense though. Instead of learning from books we would go around his neighborhood and sell them out of a yellow basket. While in school he studies the people who hangouts with who, what makes them do what they do and overall what makes people tick.
Adam sees school as a funneling process, pushing and molding people to be the same. He believes chasing grades and taking AP courses as a distraction that not only will be a time suck, but also will not help prepare you for life or the real world.
Taking a friend up on a dare, Adam went into a small local drugstore, dripping wet from the rain and dressed more to hang out than to pitch a manager. He asked the manager for a job and in a short time the young ambitious store owner and the hardworking Adam have been taking in more and more business, challenging even the big pharmacy chains.
Most would think being head of marketing for a thriving business at 17 was enough but Adam has been busy launching his own product. A natural congestion relief works immediately, where his only marketing tactics has got the attention of Facebook, and was awarded in the summer of 2019, one of the most effective Ad campaigns. He has also been moving into the stock market and becoming the CEO of RB holdings.
He attributes most of his success to not only work ethic but always being over loving to his customers. “If you're over loving to your customers then the customer will allow you to beat your competitors even if your prices are higher “

“ I'm going to continue to keep going out and try to race until i'm not having fun anymore “
Matt Perry ( @livefreeracing ) is the ONLY active duty service man that drives high level race cars. Sounds exciting and flashy but it hasn't been an easy path.
His father would take him down to the track on Saturday nights and the environment and the speed had him hooked. At the age of 6 he was able to get behind the wheel of a race car and give the engine a roaring rev, in that moment he knew exactly what her wanted to be doing the rest of his life.
Juggling being in the service and racing hasn't been a well paved path though. He also works a job as a valet driver to help pay for his races. He explains to us how sponsors aren't as easy to get these days and unless you're the top team(s) people aren't coming to you with deals, you have to go after them.
To make matters more challenging Matt was in a major car crash, off the track go figure, that left him in a variety of braces during his 9 month recovery to learn how to walk again.
Luckily for him, being able to problem solve on the fly and believe in himself, he's been able to carve out some unique opportunities.

Seth Lorenzo ( @_sethlorenzo ) has made it a habit to take life's pain and challenges and use them to fuel his music. Growing up listening to rap, he has always been drawn to the east coast style even though he lives on the west side of the country.
After losing a close family member, Seth was out skateboarding to clear his head and fight the negative thoughts. Getting hit by a car took him off the skateboard temporarily and that's when he decided to write down his emotions vs ride them out.
When its time to disconnect he goes on “ airplane mode “ and tries to relax and reflect, coming back stronger each time with new insights, new strengths and of course new lyrics.
Like most up and coming artists, he was nervous but gathered a lot of fuel after getting thru his first show. After each show he receives more and more validation.
Distribution and marketing has definitely changed over the years, he talks about the ability to discover and become discovered using spotify's shuffle mode. “That could be me one day, someone could put on shuffle mode and find my song “
We asked about his pre game ritual and Seth told us he likes to start off by being physical. Playing basketball or skateboarding, then listen to music and end by diving into prayer.

Yung Mermer ( @yungmermer ) has always been a fan of music and how it can make you feel emotions that cant be explained. Listening to rock and emo thru middle school, as her musical taste started to evolve she became more entrenched in the rap community.
Being young at the time of some hardships, she turned towards drugs for comfort and resolution. Not wanting to experience that again she decided to pick up her pen next time hardship hit struck and wrote down the struggles instead
Having a supportive family has taught Mermer the value of connection and relationship. Being able to feel the support from parents, grandparents and a few close friends really makes her value the fans she does have.
When working on a project it all starts with a theme or concept. She then looks for the perfect beat to help the listener feel what she is feeling, then weaves the lyrics in to create a song. It doesn't always come together so easily, at times, long walks are required to help clear the mind and make room for creativity.
She is a huge fan of self promotion. “ if you don't promote how are people supposed to know who you are?”

“ life is about finding balance, you live, your try to find balance and then you die
The artist known as Monarch G ( @monarch__g ) Grew up around house parties that his dad would DJ and rap at. It's no wonder that old school hip hop culture was ingrained in him.
After 7 years in the Army, he decided it was time to get back to his creative roots and retire. You see, he started writing his own raps at 13 and developed the moniker Monarch G. Monarch representing his “social butterfly” personality and reminding himself the majestic like pride and standards he lives with. The G having many meanings, his last name, Gemini his zodiac sign and many other things that tie into the type of person he is and is becoming.
The things that really pushed him to make his own music is the desire to express himself and the lack of style and quality in the rap community that he was looking for. Abandoning the title “ rapper “ because of where the culture has led it, he identifies as a lyricist and reflects on his favorites like Ice Cube, J Cole and Snoop Dogg. ( he grew up on the west coast so that west coast style has a special place in his heart )
His writing process is similar to a poet, He often has a feeling that he tethers to a single word and then working on breaking down the emotion more clearly. Performing and recording can become challenging because you have to recreate that head space you had when you wrote the song. Its not always a pleasant place to visit.
No matter what life throws his way he stays adaptable and does everything he can to separate from others.
Be sure to follow the links below to hear his music and stay up to date with everything he has going on.

Patrick Gorton, ( @merric370 ) Is an OG anchor podcaster. He came onto the app very early, back in the day when Anchor.fm was interested in revolutionizing radio. If you listened to “ We Live on a Planet “ in the early days, Patrick did a great job of making you feel like you were apart of his live show. The secret that it wasn't recorded live at all.
Patrick has a strong belief in taking care of people and doing what he can for his listeners. An attitude that he developed in a career of sales where he learned without building a relationship with someone you have no customers to sell to.
A staggering number that just keeps going when you talk to Pat is $47,000 . That is the amount that he has saved in the last 4 years, at the time of this recording that is, while being sober. He was generous enough to give us insight to his path for recovery.
We dive into the emerging conversations about mental health that the world wide web has allowed and shares a little bit about suffering from bipolar disorder. How like his sobriety, it a daily thing that you always have to be aware of and manage.

Jonathan Martinez (@jmthecreative ) did not wait around for any moment to be just right, he's always done the best with what he’s got and remained patient for the next opportunity.
JM like many of us decided that more education would help his future. The only problem was he didn't have a place to stay. He bounced around from hotel to hotel until it became too expensive. At this point most of us would have quit school but Jonathan took a different approach. He learned about “ homeless villages “ and set up camp where he lived until he graduated.
Jonathan started by helping people design business cards and other creative tools to help with branding. As time went on he saw the need to expand into the digital world. He uses the same skill set and creative thinking but translates it to help people with UX design.
‘ in case you were wondering what UX or User Experience design is, A UX designer maps out how people interact with products and services, They map out the what, when, where, how and who will use a product or service. This allows a brand or business to help target the right people, create a fun and engaging experience at all stages.
Even working with others has been challenging do to a defective hernia mesh implant that causes chronic pain. He does keep him from working but it makes him choose how and what he works on more wisely.

JTC Beats ( @jtcbeats ) Minneapolis based producer has been honing his craft for over 10 years now, Starting off on the drums at the age of 11. He liked the idea that the drums set the tempo and the beat that really carried the song.
Growing up in a major city with no large label presence created an environment that if you want to make it in music, you’ll have to do it on your own. Combine that with the harsh winters that force you indoors for many months of the year, you have the perfect situation that removes excuses for not putting in the work.
Being naturally introverted, its easy for JTC to bury himself in the studio but he understands the importance of building relationships. Thats why he spends the first 1-2 hours in bed working on his social media before he starts his “work day” He has developed the philosophy of making at least one new beat a day. He doesn't expect everyone to lead to something but it helps develop the momentum required to keep moving and cultivates constancy.
As he becomes more known he only works harder. Putting in 12-14 hour days for the last 5 years has started to pay off. He now has people coming to him which gives him the leverage. Working that much can create a bit of a creative block from time to time so to spark new creativity he travels to new areas and creates new experiences.

Sour Rap ( @sourrap ) was like most children growing up, was excited about something that his parents wouldn't let him enjoy, in his case it was rap. He used to sneak rap videos on MTV and write down the lyrics so he could rap them to himself later. Eventually he would begin writing his own.
Coming from a place like New Jersey, where rap doesn't have a mainstream presence, “helps keep you from getting put into a box and gives the freedom to become your own artist.
He tells us how social media has been key in growing his fan base, spending time in the virtual community and have conversations with others is what keeps people around. If he had to start all over he would double down on reaching out and meeting new people.
“ when you have something going on like a new song or album you need to tell everyone about it and let them know, don't worry if they wont read your DM, its okay that some don’t”
One thing he reminds us about and maybe the most important thing in the podcast is that when you're working on your passion, you'll treat it the same way you do your day job. So if you work hard at work you'll work hard at your music, if you're lazy at work that will show up too.
Sour talks about the value of collaboration. When you have a bunch of people working on the same project it helps because you can be held accountable to do your best work and be pushed to create your best projects. “ Even Kanye has a team of 40 to produce an album “
