JTC Beats ( @jtcbeats ) Minneapolis based producer has been honing his craft for over 10 years now, Starting off on the drums at the age of 11. He liked the idea that the drums set the tempo and the beat that really carried the song.
Growing up in a major city with no large label presence created an environment that if you want to make it in music, you’ll have to do it on your own. Combine that with the harsh winters that force you indoors for many months of the year, you have the perfect situation that removes excuses for not putting in the work.
Being naturally introverted, its easy for JTC to bury himself in the studio but he understands the importance of building relationships. Thats why he spends the first 1-2 hours in bed working on his social media before he starts his “work day” He has developed the philosophy of making at least one new beat a day. He doesn't expect everyone to lead to something but it helps develop the momentum required to keep moving and cultivates constancy.
As he becomes more known he only works harder. Putting in 12-14 hour days for the last 5 years has started to pay off. He now has people coming to him which gives him the leverage. Working that much can create a bit of a creative block from time to time so to spark new creativity he travels to new areas and creates new experiences.
