Rethinking Alzheimer’s: Dr. George Perry Challenges the Amyloid Hypothesis

Dr. George Perry exposes Alzheimer’s myths, challenges the amyloid dogma, and shares lifestyle and science-based insights for real brain health.

----

In this groundbreaking episode, we sit down with Dr. George Perry, one of the world’s most respected Alzheimer’s researchers, to unpack decades of dogma around the amyloid hypothesis. He reveals why cure-focused strategies have failed, how oxidative stress and metals play a role, and why lifestyle interventions—from exercise to stress reduction—hold the greatest promise. This conversation reframes Alzheimer’s not as an enemy to eradicate, but as a chronic condition we can manage and adapt to with science, hope, and compassion.

----

Dr. George Perry is a Distinguished Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. For over 40 years, he has been at the forefront of research challenging entrenched dogmas, including the amyloid hypothesis, while pioneering studies on oxidative stress, mitochondrial failure, and the role of metals in brain aging. A scientist dedicated to truth over popularity, Dr. Perry’s contributions continue to reshape how we understand and respond to Alzheimer’s.
