The Promise of Potential

We all start off as babies beaming with potential. What seems to happen as we age is that we forfeit our potential for practicality as we conform to life. On this episode I am reminding you of the innate capacity to grow and develop yourself into something substantial. Something you are proud of. When we don't try our very best to be the very best versions of ourselves, we do ourselves a disservice.

Imperfectionism

Perfectionism has deep roots in our psychology. It is our need for approval to fix our damaged sense of self worth that characterises the traits of perfectionism. In this episode, I look into research by University of York St John that determined that perfectionism is increasing over time. In my brief analysis, I break down two of the main models of perfection and try to remedy this with my own observations and conclusions. In this process, I created Imperfectionism. The habit of acknowledging, owning and challenging our imperfections. Enjoy!

The Con Of Conformity

Sometimes the safe decision isn't the best decision. On this episode, I talk about conformity. It's in our nature to find safety in the group, there is safety in numbers. However, we are not the hunter-gatherers our ancestors once were. We live in a modern age of vast opportunity and abundance of resources. In such a world, conforming would be your worst decision when you can design the dream life for yourself and change the world around you. Enjoy!

Most times we find our minds caught in between the future and the past and this is what I wanted to talk about on this episode. Here, I bring you an idea of how we can think of our current situations that can bring us a broader perspective that can lend us a higher appreciation for the various stages we are in in our lives. Finding Forever

Forever ever? On this episode I'm talking about long term thinking that can help us make choices on a day to day basis. This same longterm mentality can impact major aspects of our lives such as our health, relationships, careers and a lot more. Is what you're doing right now something you can do for the rest of your life?

The Gray Zebra Podcast
Over And Over Again

Repetition. The mother of learning. On this episode I share some research I read recently about how we learn and the role that repetition has in our acquisition of skills and knowledge. I wonder how many dreams I've let go of simply because I gave up too early. I'm sure you've let go of a few too.  We all know about the '10,000 hour' rule on attaining mastery but apparently there's a more practical approach that doesn't require all that time. It starts with a very well-defined goal...

The Prophet Within

Did you know you possess the power of prophecy? On this episode I talk about the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy phenomenon. How our beliefs directly impact our reality. Our outlook on the world, how we look at ourselves and others, the stereotypes we subscribe to or the rumours we listen to have great influence on our expectations, which govern our behaviours and actions.

The Gray Zebra Podcast
Your Subconscious Identity

What is the default template of your entire psychology? Are you a black sheep? We are not all couched into greatness at a young age like Venus and Serena Williams. Still, we have the powerful capability of transforming ourselves into being whatever we want to be. On this episode, I talk about how we can rebuild the templates of how we see ourselves through persistent and consistent brainwash. The good kind! Through an awesome concept called "Auto-suggestion" I read in the amazing book 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill, we can slowly rebuild the template of our psychology and create a new subconscious identity that can help empower every action we take with confidence, self-belief and compassion for everyone around us.

The Gray Zebra Podcast
Power of the Placebo

Can what we believe truly affect our reality, mentally, or even physical health? On this episode, I explore an interesting phenomena called The Placebo Effect. Many of our beliefs subconsciously dictate our perception of life and I like to think we have the capacity to make this a conscious effort so we are less vulnerable to life's unpredictability. If we can identify the placebos in our life, we can use them to strengthen us. And if we see the placebo for what it is, maybe we can be empowered enough not to need the placebo itself.

The Gray Zebra Podcast
The Process of Becoming

We easily acknowledge someones accomplishments but seem to overlook someones development. We do it to our peers and we also do it to ourselves. Personal development is extremely underappreciated and in a social media world where vanity metrics are loosely tied to ones self-worth, this is only a recipe for disappointment.

Chronicles Of Ridicule

Is it fear of failure stopping us from succeeding? Or is it the fear of the ridicule from failure? On this episode I talk about the thing that stops us from being ourselves, the fear of judgement, the fear of ridicule. Is it all in our heads?

Personal Progress In A Pandemic

Can you make progress in a pandemic? This is something I started asking myself when things started to go south. Work is increasingly hard to find while time has never been more available.  On this episode, I go through four pillars for personal progress that are working for me. 1. Mental Wellbeing, 2. Setting Goals, 3. Isolation and 4. Patience. These are 4 important things to factor on your mission to meet any desired outcome throughout the pandemic. Happy pandemicking!
