Over the last three years Apple has celebrated ambitious, creative talent from across SE Asia in a campaign called "Here’s to the Dreamers." This year, with the theme of “Dream Beyond,” they are shining a spotlight on the developers, musicians, and artists who push boundaries and inspire others to reach their fullest potential. One of this year’s dreamers is our very own, homegrown, Joy Ngiaw. A kampung girl from Pahang who is now a Hollywood composer. She did the score for the Skydance short Blush on Apple TV+, she also made history as the youngest composer to write the logo music for major studio, Skydance Animation. She is just breaking barriers as a Southeast Asian woman in the film and TV scoring world.

She later received a second Annie nomination for her score on sci-fi adventure trilogy WondLa (Apple TV+), collaborating with industry icons such as John Lasseter (Toy Story). Notably, Joy made history as the youngest composer to score a major studio logo for Skydance Animation. Recognized as a leading voice among the new generation of film composers, Joy was nominated for the 2022 David Raskin Emerging Talent Award by the Society of Composers and Lyricists, selected for the competitive NBCUniversal Composers Initiative, and named a 2024 BAFTA Breakthrough USA honoree.
