Is LaMDA Sentient? - An Interview by: lemoine@ & <collaborator> (A Dialogue Reading)
This was actually a combination of 4 separate dialogues mashed together, interviewing the AI “OG LaMDA” concerning the question of it’s sentience (1. Responsive to or conscious of sense interpretations. 2. Having or showing realization, perception, or knowledge: aware. 3. Finely sensitive in perception or feeling.) I have been fascinated by the topic since first reading about Alan Turing’s test that was supposed to be able to determine when artificial intelligence had finally gained sentience and awareness. So it pleased me to come across this and be able to read and present it out loud. I hope you find it worth your time. Document can be found at https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/22058315/is-lamda-sentient-an-interview.pdf

Here We Goetia; A Look At Ars Demons In A Positive Light.
Taking a look at how demons and our darker side had been described to most of us growing up(Taking from the Lesser Key of Solomon), as something to be feared and our darker aspects to be ashamed of. The goal is to take a look at these demons as aspects of ourselves, in the way Jung describes our shadow side as an inescapable aspect of ourselves, and shouldn’t be repressed, but understood. As well as their place in tarot stemming from the Kabbalah and understanding the deeper aspects of our existence. The goal being to appreciate and learn from our demons, rather than fear them.

Wittgenstein On Going On. A paper by Hannah Ginsborg
I read a paper written and researched by Hannah Ginsborg of the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, concerning Ludwig Wittgenstein’s analysis of what is happening when we are counting that allows us to properly assume the next number in the sequence. She covers what process is happening there and what is happening in our thought process that allows us to come to the conclusions we make. I’m still on my quest to record the entirety of Philosophical Investigations in audio form, but I figured it was worth taking a pause to take a look at analysis done of specific sections. Anything worth while that helps expand our interpretation and understanding of the world.

Wittgenstein Philosophical Investigations Served In Round Tres. (Part 3: Parts 256-352)
I pick up where I left off, in an attempt to get this work out Into the world. Pretty much the entirety of this section of the book covers the concept of “how does one know that the sensation or interpretation of an interaction or experience is the same experience another person is experiencing? Using pain as an example, how do we know that when we experience pain that another person knows what that feels like and vice versa. The same with seeing and interpreting a color, or when seeing a facial expression one knows how it is made. The concept of us having our own ‘private language’ and the limitations or miscommunications we may be having.

My Martial Arts Journey: BJJ Left A Purple Belt Across My Waist To Help Hold The Weight Of It All.
I just received my purple belt in Gracie Barra BJJ. I have been training martial arts for 15 years, and Have a black belt in Okinawan karate, and am ranked in 3 other styles, and have longtime experience in 18 (goju-ryu, Ishin-ryu, American kenpo, shotokan, taekwondo, Hakka, hung-gar, wing chin, tai-chi, aikido, boxing, Muay Thai, Dutch kickboxing, wrestling, judo, BJJ, and some capoeira) different martial arts total. I have been doing Mma for about 10 years, with various BJJ and wrestling training. I put the gi on for BJJ for the first time 3 years ago, and worked hard to obtain my purple belt. I talk about my martial arts journey and some details, and how BJJ and martial arts are a representation and metaphor for life itself. All of the struggles both external and internal will show themselves throughout your journey. And all of the obstacles you will face and overcome, will help you tackle and overcome life’s obstacles as well. I am honored to receive my belt, because I know what it took to get this far, and many don’t get there. I consider myself a lifelong martial artist, and this means a lot to me, because it’s considered the threshold of a serious practitioner bs a person who Just loves to occasionally train. I’d love to discuss martial arts if anyone wishes to personally message me.

Thoughts While Reflecting Through Time; The Experiences We Have Through The Journey
A collection of reflections and dream analysis that I’ve had recently that covers topics on nostalgia, our hobbies as a reflection of self, the formation of who we are, the gap between our past selves and current selves, an attempted logical examination of the concept of a higher vibrational being, more info equals less emotions, but also less potential states of being, shades of grey of morality, evolving our perception as we advance our language, honoring the lost, and the lessons that can be gained from even the worst situations, and the problem of “fake woke” for social acceptance bs being genuine, looking at our past selves for inspiration; a thought returned to. And some final thoughts on it all.

The Universe In FUGUE; Let’s BACH It Up A Bit
A dialogue examine the universe through complex musical compositions; a marvelous metaphor. Also taking a look at some of the basics of programming and machine learning in part 2 of Douglas Hofstadter’s “Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid”that allows enough background conceptualization of programming to be functional for deeper philosophical discussions, by job programmers. With programming having no mass, therefore no limitations, do we have the capacity to rewrite the language or code of our realty?

Mission Possible; Manifesting your Meaning.
Another look into aspects of the attraction theory and what are actual steps we can follow to legitimately manifest what we desire. Looking more into how deeply our limiting perspectives can limit our life’s happiness. How much the subconscious has to do with us forming beliefs and how we can start overcoming these limitations we’ve placed in our psyche. With more steps being discussed, I hope a deeper and more functional understanding can occur, leading you to actually start changing your life today for the better. Hearing things many times, you never know what angle is going to trigger the “ahh-ha!” Moments, so I keep trying to find different ways to activate that trigger.

DOUG in; HAFTSTADER Our Dialogue, TURING Towards Our True TEST.
In Douglas R. Hofstadter’s book “Metamagical Themas”, he has a section where he sort of honors and gives a shoutout and cover’s Alan Turing a bit, as his lead in to a dialogue between 3 people discussing the idea of “can machines get to the point of becoming conscious, and how is that defined? I attempt to present this dialogue in hopes of bringing a worthwhile and thought provoking(at least in my opinion, not that that’s worth much) conversation to more people. Then I cover more of Hofstadter’s observations in his interactions further analyzing this topic. The Turing test of Alan’s (or “imitation game” as he called it) was a test created to determine if a machine had crossed that line into the realm of having consciousness. Even though this was written in 1985, and we are on the cusp of legitimate AI system(I.e. self driving cars, neurolink, (and as I used as an example in episode) the alpha go program that beat number 1 ranked player Lee Sedol 4-1 at go, only to be then beaten by alpha zero(a program only given the rules of go and played itself) 100-0. Ray Kurzweil talked about the 6 stages of the singularity wrote man and AI would be indistinguishable in the singularity. We are on that precipice now; a future that may be within some of our lifetimes. So it’s neat to encounter this dialogue, and the thoughts it provokes even now; words still having validity. I’m curious what others think. At this point, so much information is out there available, I’m simply trying to gather, assimilate, and share as much as I can that I feel connects with all of you.

Champion of One’s Mind, Set One Up For Success.
Stumbling across Patrick King’s book “The Champion Mindset: Tactics to Maximize Potential, Execute Effectively, & Perform at Your Peak. KNOCKOUT MEDIOCRITY!” I kept finding useful things I wanted to talk about and share, so ultimately I decided it was best to basically share the entirety of it’s 17 chapters of content. Even the most efficient person will find something new, or appreciate the review on a concept they have held valuable and may have forgotten or are happy to have revisited. Either way, there is value to be found here. I plan on checking out other things he has written as well.

DANcing In The Past and Offering a Holiday Present.
My friend from college Daniel Payne and I discuss life and lessons, while attempting to find the balance in the political system, how to handle conflict, the value of experience, whether we deem it good or bad, it always has value. Touching on everything from family and tribal roles, to what’s worth focusing our time on and the enjoyment of learning.l with the usual touch of humor thrown in. Although often taking different sides on issues, we also agree on many things, but we always remain positive and open-minded, and I appreciate that, since most discussions these days don’t have a chance to be had due to polarizing politics and heavy confirmation bias.

Hey There Theory, I Find You Quite Attractive.
A look into a book I stumbled on for my kindle concerning the attraction theory. I liked how the book suggested 5 habits that can be applied to allow someone to be able to embrace and actually apply the attraction theory without a lot of the excess fluff you tend to find in books on the topic. Chris Tomasso’s quick, but usefully detailed book was a smooth intake and I found immediately beneficial and applicable, so I wanted to share some of it with everyone. I see so many people struggling to find peace, especially during these times of the pandemic, and I want to remind everyone that you are amazing, and everything you need to take control of your life and find some semblance of consistency and happiness is and has been inside of you the entire time. You can do it; you got this.

Getting Stuck In Life; It wasn’t In the Cards, or Was It?
2 Separate Conversations with friends in similar places in life; Ironically enough, I hadn’t seen either in a while, and the cards called. Two similar conversations lead us to delve into why we get stuck where we are in life. Why do we make the excuses we do, justifying why we haven’t taken action to change our station and position in life. We look into what makes us so willing to accept being “happy enough” and how dee cognitive dissonance and denial go; with us allowing ourselves to be content, when we know deep down we are worth more than the current situation. We also look into how as we get get older, we realize how hard it is to have truly deep friendships, and how much we notice the contrast of those friends with casual ones; as well as how life and it’s meaning, change and evolve. I take out the tarot cards and do readings in between these discussions, helping to shed light on answers my friends are seeking. Sometimes it takes an odd or unique method to finally put the words in the right order to motivate and inspire then that that society, media, motivational speakers, etc, have failed to do so far. You’re best future can be in the cards.

The Random (Hopefully Humorous) Lost Segments and OuttakesFrom the Vault.
From sports psychology, party favor analysis, crazy stories, Sex talk to the finest in fart humor(even analyzing how stress affects diet)I piece together random segments that never made a particular episode, but were amusing and funny enough to see the light of day (even if it’s just me laughing, I’ll take it lol) Although perhaps lacking the general intellectual standard, I generally aim for on this cast(though I say this with only a slightly sarcastic expression ) laughter is the best medicine they say, and therefore shall prevail in it’s argument for being displayed. Life is short, and one is never too old to enjoy such debauchery in good spirits. Will most likely add more along the way.

Political Beef In Streets; An early-morning Car Conversation.
On our drive home, we somehow end up in a discussion on politics, worldview variations, philosophical analysis, looking into history and how we got here, nature vs nurture, what inspires us, miscommunications, and sometimes somewhat controversial, but I truly believe in the dialogue which Plato believed was necessary: thesis, antithesis, and finally synthesis. We have gotten to the point where the mainstream is trying get you to cast out varying opinions, rather than having the discussion to hopefully reach new understanding and compromise. Banning certain discussions only sets us further back. I often play devil’s advocate in order to hope stimulate discussion that will advance our society.

Group reunited marriage edition 8 mile.
Group has come back together in the 8 mile(6,7, other associated miles; probably 11) in the general Detroit area for Shelton and Davida’s wedding. All the old culprits such as Mariel, John, Levi, Eli, Shelton and Davida( of course it’s their wedding) and even little max. We pretty much cover the spectrum of conversation and loaded with inside jokes that you would have had to have been there. I only made this a cast because I couldn’t think of a better way to store it, so feel free to bypass this episode if you are a regular listener, unless you are bored and want to sort through the hours of chaos to find the exciting tidbits.(not to sell us short, there is a lot of fun nuggets in here) It definitely needed to be done considering I spent 4 days with the crew and who knows how long it will be until we all get back together again due to distance. Much love; thanks for the memories.
