If you’ve been feeling more tired, foggy, or emotional lately — you’re not imagining it. Science shows that seasonal changes can intensify grief, depression, and anxiety. A University of Michigan study found that on high-pollen days, suicide deaths rose by 7.4%, and among those already struggling with mental health, that number climbed to 8.6%.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I unpack how physical triggers like allergies, shorter days, and disrupted sleep impact emotional healing — and how to care for your mind and body when both are carrying the weight of grief.

California just passed a first-of-its-kind law requiring social media platforms to display mental health warning labels for users under 18 — a move that’s being compared to cigarette warnings.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I break down what the law really does, whether it will make a difference, and what actually helps when it comes to protecting young minds.
This isn’t just about teens — it’s about all of us learning to set boundaries in a world that profits from our attention.
Because awareness is a start — but action changes everything.

It’s not only Taco Tuesday, it’s National Taco Day - did you know??? It’s also Mental Illness Awareness Week, National Inner Beauty Day (a day supporting human trafficking survivors) and Ageism Awareness Day.
And so many people hide their stories.
On SEASON EIGHT’S first episode, I discuss why it’s important today more than ever to be REAL. In a world with Amazon orders available on our tv's now 😳 and social media portraying everything pretty and horrific - why do so many people “fake it until they make it?” Why is saying “help” so difficult?
Tune in for the conversation and the tools!

As we remember 9/11, I can’t help but feel like this world hasn’t come very far.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I honor those lost on 9/11 - as well as those lost yesterday.
Charlie Kick was fatally shot while addressing an audience on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah yesterday while a student at Evergreen High School in Colorado wounded two classmates before taking his own life.
This is the world we live in.
There are countless other tragedies that didn’t make the news, and while guns are the issue, hate is the root of the problem.
Tune in to hear an important conversation about doing better, communicating better, walking away better, apologizing better, disagreeing better, and just being better.

We don’t learn in school how to talk about what’s bothering us—but we should. Holding things in doesn’t just disappear; it builds until it comes out sideways. Maybe it’s an argument, a mistake at work, or an explosion years later.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss why bottling emotions is so damaging, what it does to our health and relationships, and how we can start expressing ourselves in healthier ways.

Growth comes in many forms - some of it consciously, some unconsciously, and some even comes from others.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss how even the messy parts - the rumors, the gossip, the hate — can actually fuel growth. Without realizing it, those who try to tear us down are the very people building our resilience, patience and strength.
Because growth doesn't always come wrapped in pretty packages. Sometimes it comes from the fire, the struggle, and yes — even from the haters.

Today, I’m talking about something that no one wants to think about—but everyone needs to hear. Because what you don’t know CAN hurt you. And in 2025, addiction doesn’t look like what it used to. Even prescription pills like Adderall are being laced. Even household items are being misused. If you think addiction ‘couldn’t happen in your house,’ I need you to listen harder!

This isn't your typical episode of The Be Ruthless Show. I'm not coming to you just as your host or as a Psychologist. I'm speaking not just as a gruef expert, but as a member of the Traverse City Community.
Yesterday something unimaginable happened at our local Walmart. First responders swiftly apprehended the suspect and saved the eleven victims with bravery and skill.
This episode is for those who were there. For those who weren’t but were also shaken. For all of us trying to navigate this world where going to the store turns into a tragedy. And for the first responders who run towards tragedy while everyone is running away.

Overmedicated. Undermedicated. Afraid to be medicated. There is so much noise around the topic of medication, it’s no wonder there’s confusion.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I'm diving into a topic that desperately needs more open, honest conversation: medication and mental health!
Whether you’re taking medication, considering it, or love someone who is - this episode is for you. We're going to break the stigma, talk about real experiences , and explore how to work WITH your doctor to make empowered decisions for your well being. No shame. No judgment. Just truth!

What if the way you fight is doing more damage than what you're fighting about?
We live in a world where we’re not taught that fighting fairly is a thing. We’re not always going to agree, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get along. Communication doesn’t equal confrontation!
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I educate listeners on the difference between healthy conflict and destructive communication - especially in the digital age. I offer tools to fight fairly while preserving dignity, integrity, and relationships.

July is National Bereaved Parents Awareness Month - an invisible awareness month that everyone should know about!
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, bereaved parent Jason Tuttle shares his story of living with pain and surviving loss.
Jason is a married father of two kids with multiple mental and physical disabilities (some rare). He was a Stay-at-Home Dad for 12 years until his son suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from issues related to his needs on 01/28/22. Since the day his son passed, Jason created a website, FB blog, and community (Letters To Zachary) on grief that details his raw, unfiltered and open grief journey from a male's/father's perspective. It is a place where men can feel vulnerable enough to share their emotion, empower women to help the grieving men in their lives and see that it is OK to share vulnerability through Jason's example. Jason's community is open to allgrievers.

Dallas is 7 🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾
Do you celebrate the day your pets were born or the day you rescued each other?
We celebrate both!
It’s amazing how quickly this little nut changed our world. Sassy and I were in agony after losing Jim. Dallas literally brought joy, happiness, and life back into our home and hearts.
Because Grief Hurts!
Emotionally. Physically. And spiritually.
On today’s Episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss 7 ways (in honor of Dallas!) to lessen the physical pain of grief - so you’re better equipped to handle the overwhelming emotional pain.
