Tales Beyond the Sunny Side - Episode 11: Torn

The early 1900s marked one of the darkest chapters in Maldivian history. Among the most infamous moments was the tearing apart of the nation’s very first constitution, the forced abdication of a reigning sultan, and the scandal that surrounded a crown prince.

In this episode, I present my research on Motaru Boatu Gadubadu (the Motor Boat Coup)

Maldivian history has primarily been preserved through oral traditions, with limited written documentation available. As a result, some details presented in this episode may not be entirely precise.

However, I have made every effort to compile and synthesize the information from the sources I was able to access.
