73% Life Extension Using Two Simple Drugs? 031

In this episode of The Deep Dive, supported by RevGenetics, we explore a breakthrough in rejuvenation research that goes beyond slowing aging and actually reverses age-related decline. A new study reveals a unique two-part therapy designed to restore vitality in frail, aged mice, the biological equivalent of 75-year-old humans.

The first part uses oxytocin, known as the love hormone, which naturally decreases with age and is essential for muscle strength, bone density, and metabolism. By recalibrating the body's aging signals, this treatment helps bring the system back into balance and rejuvenates function at the cellular and tissue level.

The results show impressive recovery of strength, resilience, and biological youth markers, suggesting that aging may not be a one-way process after all. Join us as we explore this powerful rejuvenation research and what it could mean for extending healthy lifespan.

Supercentenarian Longevity Gene vs Progeria. Amazing study uses Supercentenerian gene on Progeria 030

In this episode of The Deep Dive, supported by RevGenetics, we explore how the world’s oldest people may hold the key to treating one of the rarest aging diseases, Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS).

HGPS is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene, which produces a toxic protein called progerin that causes rapid aging. However, super centenarians, people who live beyond 110 years, have a special LMNA gene variant that helps protect their cells from progerin damage.

Researchers now believe this longevity variant could help protect children with HGPS from early heart problems, especially diastolic dysfunction, an early sign of heart failure. This study offers new hope for immediate heart protection and a better understanding of how some humans naturally resist aging.

Join us as we explore the connection between genetic longevity and progeria research, and what it could mean for longer, healthier lives.

Scientists explore Aging and COVID severity and how zombie cells impact infection. Podcast 019

Scientists are exploring how aging impacts COVID severity, focusing on lung aging and cellular senescence. As we age, our lungs lose efficiency in repair mechanisms, like basal cells and cilia, making us more vulnerable to infections. Cellular senescence leads to zombie cells releasing inflammatory molecules, creating an inflammatory soup that affects healthy cells. This process, known as SASAP, worsens with SARS-CoV-2 infection, potentially explaining why COVID hits some harder than others. By understanding these aging-related factors, researchers hope to develop new strategies like Senolytics to combat COVID and improve outcomes. IL-11 Inhibition Boosts Lifespan: Anti-Aging Breakthrough! Podcast 017

In this podcast, we explore groundbreaking research on inhibiting IL-11 signaling to extend health span and lifespan. IL-11, a key player in inflammation, may hold the key to anti-aging therapies. By studying mice, researchers found that blocking IL-11 activity led to significant lifespan extension, up to 20%. IL-11 acts as a spark, triggering molecules like ERK, AMPK, and MTORC1, impacting cell repair, energy use, and nutrient processing. This discovery offers promising insights into the mechanisms of aging and potential interventions for extending human lifespan significantly. Study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-024-07701-9 While we don't see anything no where near as potent as the anti-bodies described in the study, there are some interesting natural things that might move the needle in the right direction: Curcumin: Studies have found that curcumin can reduce fibrosis, and indirectly may also impact IL-11 since IL-11 is involved in fibrotic signaling. But you may need MetaCurcumin as normal curcumin has a problem with natural bioavailability. Resveratrol: Resveratrol is known to inhibit fibrogenesis, particularly in the liver and heart, which suggests a potential indirect effect on pathways involving IL-11. A better one would be M98 Resevratrol (Polydatin) as the bioavailability is much stronger than Resveratrol. EGCG: EGCG has been shown to reduce fibrosis in several organs, suggesting that it could help in the regulation of IL-11 indirectly. Quercetin: It downregulates cytokine production and has demonstrated anti-fibrotic properties, suggesting potential impacts on IL-11-driven fibrosis. N-Acetylcysteine (NAC): NAC has been shown to have protective effects against fibrosis in various organs, possibly affecting IL-11 indirectly. Vitamin D: Vitamin D deficiency is linked to increased fibrosis, and supplementation has shown a reduction in fibrotic signaling, which could indirectly influence IL-11 activity. Silibinin (Milk Thistle): Silibinin has been shown to protect against liver fibrosis, indicating a possible reduction in IL-11-mediated effects. Omega 3: Studies indicate that omega-3 fatty acids reduce fibrosis in organs like the liver and kidney, potentially modulating IL-11 indirectly through decreased inflammation. Boswelia Serrata (Boswellic Acid): Animal studies have demonstrated that boswellic acid reduces organ fibrosis and inflammatory cytokine production, suggesting a potential indirect inhibition of IL-11.
