Ep. 57 Letting Go to Find Belonging with Sera Jayne

This episode’s guest is Sera Jayne! Sera is a musician, worship pastor, works with an up north sauna company, and is an absolutely beautiful human. Sera blew us away in this episode and you can tell by the energy we have throughout, how much this conversation inspires us.

Sera speaks on their coming out journey and how deconstructing Christianity has led them to finding a new safe space in the form of a church. Andi and Mar share a bit about their own journeys with deconstructing Christianity and redefining what spirituality means to them.

We discuss the illusion of comfort in having control, why change is so scary, and where that actually stems from systemically in our society.

“Everything that’s living is changing.”

We ask questions like, are we meant to understand all the variables? How would it feel for us to just be okay with not having all the answers? What is Christianity or spirituality supposed to feel like?

Sera offers a super great tip that involves 6 questions they choose to ask themselves when they are in a place where they are feeling anxious or out of control.

Sera gives meaning to the root causes of the need for control in our society, specifically for white people; “the centering desire for control, is rooted in internalized colonialism,” and we decided we need an entire episode to talk deeper on this subject.

Cally and Sera dive into their passion for music and how it relates to their lives spiritually. We get the honor of hearing some updates on music they are both gracing the world with very soon.

“We are just music making music.”

Ep. 55 Trusting Our Unique Process

The Sol Women express their fears and changes of habit when it comes to COVID and share their opinions on the way things have felt for them in this ongoing pandemic. The guilt, fear, and PTSD that can go along with something that drastically changes the way people live their lives is something worth talking about. Please do what you can to donate and educate yourselves on what's happening in New Orleans. This city needs our help and our attention.

Here is a spreadsheet of all the places in which you can help and donate:

Ep. 53 Impostor Syndrome with Cal + Andi

This episode is all about impostor syndrome. What it means, what it looks like, what the women's experience with it has been, and how they've worked to move away from this feeling of being an 'impostor' in their own crafts. Impostor syndrome refers to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be. It's basically feeling like a phony and as if you are going to be found out as a fraud. It can feel like you don't belong where you are, or that you've gotten there due to dumb luck. This can affect anyone no matter their social status, work background, skill level, or degree of expertise. (verywellmind)

The women discuss their own personal insecurities and how they make daily choices to counter the voices in their head telling them they aren't good enough. They address the topic of what it is they actually do for their careers, and how it can be complicated to explain sometimes. They also talk about the idea of apologizing for every little thing, and how this can take away from the sacred meaning of actually apologizing for something that deserves an apology. This is another raw episode where the women open up and share their minds and hearts. We hope you enjoy listening.

Ep. 51 Pain & Pleasure, Ego vs. God with Courtney McNabb

Courtney McNabb is a coach for female leaders in activating wealth energetics through God, Soul and the Feminine. She joins Cally and Andi today for a juicy episode discussing a range of topics that our listeners will love. Courtney discusses what it means to be a She Shaman and the sacred context of She Sovereign. She shares her life story and the big fires that brought her to where she is today.

She speaks on important topics such as the pressures women face with being perfect, thin, and beautiful. She speaks on seeking validation from men, eating disorders, how to transcend this idea of beauty, and what spiritual ego looks like. The women talk about how God is within us but we are not God, and how there is a fine line with spiritual egotism and spiritual knowing.

They go into the topic of pain and how we dramatize our own suffering, which spirals us into ego pain. Courtney touches on the difference between God pain and ego pain. "I don't think we can change our pain, I think our pain changes us," is a direct quote from Courtney in this powerful episode. They transition from pain into pleasure and speak on the value of feeling pleasure more often than pain.

Courtney dives into self intimacy and her journey to get there. The women talk about what feminine energy means and what the wounded feminine vs. the healed feminine can bring into any given situation. They talk about dropping the "cool girl" act and leaning into our yearning body to work with our big emotions and feminine energy to come out feeling more confident and closer to our version of God or Source.

They finish the episode with what trauma is and how it works itself through the body especially when we are ready for it. It's so important not to force trauma out of the body, but to allow it the space and time to flow through us in the way that it needs to, for ultimate healing. This episode is a game changer and we cannot wait for you to hear! We love you!

Ep. 50 Great Food for Great Sex with Christine DeLozier

The Sol Women are officially in season 5 of the podcast! This episode was so much fun for the women to host. They welcome Christine DeLozier, acupuncturist, herbalist, and author of Diet for Great Sex: Food for Male and Female Sexual Health. Her book dives deep into the true catalysts of what makes our bodies fire on all cylinders and the best steps to maintain them through diet for as long as possible.

Trigger warning: this episode speaks on sex as well as healthy food consumption and the topic of body weight and diet is discussed.

The women go into what it means to have great sex, how blood flow, diet, and hormones all have a play into creating the best possible sex. Christine spills some great tips on what the best foods and worst foods for sex are and why, she also shares a date night sex menu!

This episode sheds light on the difference between the societal focus on the male and female experience, their differences biologically when it comes to hormones, and how the function of testosterone plays such a large roll in both.

Christine largely focuses on kindness and what it means to be a giver in a relationship, both in and out of the bedroom, and the importance of focusing on your partner's pleasure. She also touches a bit on traditional Chinese medicine and how that factors into natural and healthy eating habits, as well as how far away Western culture has moved from our primal instincts with food.

The women discussed the controversial term "diet" and what that actually means in the context of Christine's book. "It's not about beating your body into submission, it's not about restriction or diet culture," is a quote from this episode. The women make it known that it's all about listening to their bodies and learning which foods are higher in nutrients and will benefit us long term. This conversation is about breaking the stigma of what healthy really means and what it looks like.

Ep. 47 Deep Diving into Human Design with Zoë Hansen

In this episode the Sol Women have the honor of speaking with Zoë Hansen. Zoë is a Human Design coach, a musician, an artist, and a spiritual channel for human and soul connection. She brings individuals into greater alignment using her gifts and is also a dear friend of Cally.

The women dive deep into Human Design Charts and ask questions about specific areas in their own charts. Zoë gives insight on some of the different meanings behind the 9 energy centers and how Human Design has changed her life. Human Design Charts stem from the combination of Eastern and Western Astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Kabbalah, The Chakra system, and Quantum Physics. It’s an incredibly multifaceted and detailed reading and it provides a unique type of message compared to other charts out there.

The women go in depth about connecting with Source and how to be fully aligned with your own inner purpose, how to be more aware of the little, yet beautiful moments in life, and the importance of noticing beauty in everything. They talk about the controversy of choosing a creative life path rather than a conventional path and how capitalism plays into pushing humans further away from their authentic purpose.

Zoë wraps up the conversation with a beautiful mantra, reminding us the necessity of getting back into nature, finding ways to become humbled and re-centered, and to remember how quick and sacred our time on earth is.

Ep. 45 Intentional Growth in Relationships + Self with the Smith's

Andrea and CJ Smith join the Sol Women for an incredible chat about setting healthy boundaries in a marriage and how they've grown from the beginning of their relationship to where they are today. Some noteworthy topics that the group touches on are; building trust and how it takes time and patience, holding space for your partner and taking accountability and ways in which that can be uncomfortable, mind reading and assumptions and how those can cause problems in relationships, as well as personal hardships and growth that has come from those.

We ask if whether being on the same page as your partner every single day is possible or not, and talk through how to navigate moments where you might not be on the same page. Finding the rewards in growing through the uncomfortable conversations, being vulnerable and open in your partnership, and how empowering it feels to grow with someone, are other avenues this conversation takes. These growing points can come in handy in, not just intimate relationships, but with family and friends as well.

There are a few tips for how to work through feeling insecure in healthy ways with yourself and with others. Ep. 43 Conscious Creative Healing with Albert Allenback

Albert is back to chat with the Sol Women about what it’s like to live life as a creative person and choosing your art as your career path. The group answers a listener’s question asking 'how do you know the importance of stopping and stepping away from our passions and come back with fresh eyes versus pushing through the feeling of being unmotivated.' Albert goes into depth about this journey to become healthy and balance within his personal practice, career, and life in general.

An important question that comes up in this episode is “do we work hard because we feel like we aren’t enough, or because we simply WANT to be better.” Mar touches on the difficulty for women to show confidence without coming off as being bossy or controlling and how that plays a role in the individualistic society that we live in.

Albert paints a picture of what it’s like to create in a fear based state versus a flow state. He gives valuable tips and tricks for how to detach and ground himself before, during, and after his creative sessions and processes. The question of HOW we can detach comes up and the group talks about ways in which they practice the art of detachment.

Albert and Cally refer to the book Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner. The subconscious mind effects everything we do and create, so how can we work on getting right within our own minds? They finish up with conversing about the risk it takes to be who you are and live fully into your authenticity, in a world where that isn’t the “norm.” We enjoyed this episode so much and we hope you do too.

Stay tuned all the way to the very end for a montage of Mar bloopers, which are the best kind of bloopers in our opinion. <3

The Sol Women refer to Elizabeth Gilbert's book Big Magic on today's episode regarding inspiration and creativity. They touch on what it's like to be on a path that isn't "normal" in society and the fears of being a creative and entrepreneur. This episode an apply to any area in your life in which you feel you are taking a path that isn't like everyone else. Taking the path less traveled and choosing to grow each day in some way doesn't always come easy. The idea behind this episode is to shed light on the battles that those who want to grow, learn, and become the best versions of themselves face on a day to day basis.

Fear is a large part of what stops people from moving forward on their destined path and the girls speak to how important it is to share your own unique gifts because you never know who you could help or inspire. It's about committing to creativity and embracing the rarity that is YOU. The Sol Women open up about some areas in which they have struggled and dive deeper into some insight on, ways in which they have moved through and grown from those areas.
