Integrating Christianity and Ayahuasca. Recorded at Nihue Rao, Peru [March 2025]
In March 2025 I journeyed to Nihue Rao in Iquitos Peru for my most significant ‘diet’ with the Plant Medicine of Ayahuasca to date. The retreat was held by Maestro Remi Delaune, and his Shipibo teacher Maestro Ricardo Amaringo. I first experienced Remi’s works at ‘Kumankaya’ the remarkable healing center he and his wife Ashley built in the jungle of México. As a curandero he brings a one of a kind mixture of presence, humor, devotion to the medicine and indescribable Icaros.
His near 20 years as an Orthodox monk in France and transition to a deep study of Shipibo Ayahuasca medicine make him a unique teacher on the experiential, mystical and synergistic integration of Christianity and Plant Medicine. Remi’s work represents a key inspiration for my ongoing project ‘Christianity Beyond Itself’.
We recorded this impromptu interview exploring what Ayahuasca is and and Remi’s understanding of the relationship between Ayahuasca, Christianity and the Shipibo tradition. He shares the key practices of the Curandero, the idea of a ‘natural pentecost’ and the importance of a strong spiritual practice when approaching ayahuasca and why he is not an emissary of the plant.
*A note on audio fidelity*
This podcast was recorded in the open air at Nihue Rao in Iquitos Peru. There are lots of wonderful bird sounds. However, there was also some construction on site which shows up for a couple of minutes. These noisy moments have been included to preserve clarity and meaning in the dialogue.

A multi-dimensional dialogue with philosophers and players in what has come to be called "The Liminal Web" about what this scene really is, how we relate with it and what historical potentials are being born through it and more. n this dialogue with Hunt Priest, we explore how psychedelics can support a rediscovery of the fire of the holy spirit, reconnection with God re-imagining of the symbolic depth of Christianity. We consider the perennial tensions between the alive spirit and the church as institution. Colonial mindsets and evangelism. The Church's relationship to indigenous cultures. Jesus as Shaman and the overlaps between Shamanism and Christianity in the work of Mircea Eliade. Hunt Priest is the Executive Director and Founder of Ligare - A Christian Psychedelic Society. Hunt is a former Episcopal priest who, after a profound mystical experience during a psilocybin research study at Johns Hopkins, founded Ligare to help Christians explore psychedelic healing within a religious context.https://www.ligare.org/Jacob Kishere is a professional dialogue facilitator, writer, rapper, and philosopher. After many years, I sat down with Daniel Thorson whose Emerge podcast was an inspiration and leading voice in the liminal web/sensemaking/metacrisis space. This was a really special podcast & Daniel brought ro bear his unfoldment practice and the spirit of his substack Intimate Mirror to create a really unique space. We explored: life after monastic academy. Buddhism and trauma. The masculine wound in the west and our relationship with masculine authority. What it means to connect with essence. This, our first dialogue takes small but significant steps into thinking through an interfaith dialogue with Islam can look like. We explore the intersection of this dialogue with philosophy and the good, true and beautiful. Thomas Jockin brings a studied perspective to the significance of beauty as a bridge between traditions whereas the 'true' and the 'good' are often far too fraught for meditation. Though, as he observes, beauty itself does not arrive instantly it is a relationship which requires cultivation and devotion. Thomas Jockin is a Fellow at the Halkyon Guild and the Founder of TypeThursday. He has taught at Pratt Institute, FIT (SUNY), Queens College (CUNY), and City College of New York (CUNY). I encountered Jockin and his work through his collaborations with O.G. Rose and the philosophical network 'The Net' Jacob Kishere is a writer, rapper, facilitator & host of SENSESPACE Podcast. Docta Bionix is a rising rap artist from the U.K. who brings a redemptive message of overcoming trails and bringing inspiration into one of the hardest hitting, most oppositional rap genres: drill. I was fascinated to interview Docta Bionix because of the unusual depth of his message. I became aware of his rise early on because of his deep collaboration with producer and engineer Badio in Bournemouth, U.K. (prodbybadio) who was also instrumental in my musical start. We dive into the impact of music on culture and the responsibility of artists. Docta Bionix background stems from hiphop and rap which later led to his involvement in pirate radio stations as an MC. Since his journey began in 2022 He became the platinum and gold award winner for the Koestler awards. Prior to this he continued on his path releasing his first single in May 2023 on GRM daily and other releases also on link up tv. Later that year he participated in the BBC introducing / BBC 1xtra cypher held at the prestigious Maida Vale studios and has numerous spins on stations such as BBC 1xtra, Kiss Fresh and BBC Introducing / Radio Solent. It was great to air and explore some of my ongoing thinking through of Love, Marriage and Sex with Michelle Garner of O.G. Rose who brings to bear her philosophical, christian and personal perspectives. We examine the significance of love philosophically and explore how, in a pre-modern context, love, sex and marriage where once self-evidently wedded. We consider the original context of marriage as a triad between two partners and God and how the spirit of marriage and faith both entail a commitment to the unknown. How are christological love and romantic distinct and where does conflation lead to dangerous error? What is sex after the invention of birth control, is casual sex playing with fire in relation to deep coded value systems? How does long term love paradoxically hold together both: the complete givennness of the love commitment and the ever-present possibility of other partners. O.G. Mahon McCann PhD, podcaster, fighting coach and creator of Wisdom dojo brigs his insights into the development of young men and the meaning crisis to the Resonant Man Dialogues series. We explore the deep need and search for role models as man. That moment in which you realise that you are fully responsible for your outcome and the balance of this with spirituality and finding a wisdom community and mentors to build together. We consider how mens groups can support men in their solitary purpose as well as breaking out of being 'islands' into a collective we. Matthew speaks to the power of being seen in having conquered our fears by other men as representing a key initiation. As well as this, the insufficiency of psychedelics alone for transformation relative to long term projects with accountability. Jacob lays out his metamodern vision in The Resonant Man initiative for the future of man. Responding to a polarised critique of men and forging a way through the a world where men and women mutually support one another in coming into embodied, spiritual and emotional maturity.

An interview with my dad Gaz Kishere, a former minister who was involved in the church for 15 years and has since undergone a journey of deconstruction. Today he works professionally as a counsellor, helping others find continued journey and spiritual relationship beyond church. He’s worked for the last 8 years supporting counter-trafficking and refugee projects in Athens Greece, as well as counselling burnt-out humanitarian workers. We explore church’s relationship to rescuer culture and outreach. The 1990’s Toronto awakening. The relationship of the church to disruption and dynamic change. Church leadership as ‘always having an answer’. Church as creating a ‘safe space’ of arrival, rather than journey into unknowing. The unknown as the place where faith lives. Church as self-relating and concerned with perpetuating itself. Contact for Coaching and enquiries at gazkishere(at)gmail.com
