The Hand That Flopped the Cradle

This week, we’re rocking our way through a double feature, the 1992 classic The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Hulu’s shiny new reboot.

In the original, a picture-perfect family hires a seemingly perfect nanny… who turns out to be terrifyingly good at multitasking (revenge, manipulation, and interior design). Meanwhile, Hulu’s reboot tries to modernize the story, and somehow loses all the tension, charm, and, well… logic. 😬

We break down what worked back in ’92, why the new version misses the mark, and why some things are better left un-remade. Spoiler: nothing compares to the original. 🎙️💀

Black Phone 2: Dial D for Disappointment?

Ring, ring… it’s The Black Phone 2, and it’s calling collect. Ethan Hawke returns as The Grabber, but does this sequel have enough to keep us on the line?

Between Gwen’s dream-phone visions and Finn’s post-trauma spiral, we had plenty to scream about, and not always for the right reasons. 😅

One of us hung up. The other answered. Tune in to see who’s still on the call. 🎧💀

Trauma, but Make It Nostalgic: Our First Horror Scars 👻

It’s our Halloween Special, and we’re doing something a little different (and possibly unwise): revisiting the first horror movies that scarred us for life and started our love affair with the genre. 💀

One of us met a foul-mouthed doll with a voodoo problem (Child’s Play, 1988), while the other couldn’t sleep thanks to a guy who kills you in your dreams (A Nightmare on Elm Street, 1984). Cute, right? 😅

Join us as we relive the childhood trauma, share fun facts from behind the screams, and decide which film messed us up more. It’s spooky, it’s nostalgic, and it’s probably cheaper than therapy. 🩸🎬

Can We Keep Him? Revisiting Casper 30 Years Later 👻

This week, we’re hopping in the time machine and heading back to 1995 for a dose of Halloween nostalgia with Casper! Starring Bill Pullman, Christina Ricci, and every ’90s girl’s ghostly crush, Devon Sawa. 💭✨

It’s been 30 years (ouch), so we had to ask, does Casper still hold up, or should it stay buried in the VHS graveyard? Spoiler: we both think it’s still got that friendly ghost magic. 👻 We’ve got all the fun facts, behind-the-scenes tea, and a full-on love letter to one of the best spooky comfort movies ever made.

Grab your popcorn, call your inner child, and let’s get nostalgic. 🍿💀

Him: Touchdowns, Red Flags and Trauma 🏈

This week, we’re diving into Him, the Jordan Peele, produced fever dream where football, cults, and religion all collide. Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, and Julia Fox bring the drama. Cam learns the hard way that meeting your hero might just ruin your life (and your season). 🏈✨ Is it a touchdown worth the ticket price or just another fumble you should stream from the couch? We’re split again this week, so grab your popcorn, this one’s going into overtime. 🍿

The Long Walk: Step Count: 1 Million. Emotional Damage: Also 1 Million.

Lace up, listeners, we’re hitting the pavement with The Long Walk, the latest Stephen King adaptation that proves cardio can, in fact, kill. In this dystopian death march, a group of teenage boys are forced to walk non-stop or face a very permanent timeout. No breaks. No bathroom stops. Just endless road, existential dread, and surprisingly touching bro-mance.

Is this film a haunting exploration of humanity under pressure… or just 1 hour and 48 minutes of painful shin splints with no emotional payoff? We’re split on this one. So, should you take the first step or stay cozy in your house slippers? Tune in as we walk (pun intended) through the highs, lows, and moral landmines of The Long Walk.

🎬 Borderline: Love, Delusion, and a Dash of Restraining Order

This week, we watched Borderline, the chaotic, genre-defying directorial debut from Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden, because when you’ve written a movie about a bear on blow, where else do you go but into the mind of a lovesick sociopath?

Ray Nicholson (yes, his last name is what you think it is) stars as Paul, a guy so obsessed with pop star Sofia (Samara Weaving) that he thinks stalking her is a meet-cute. Charming, right?

This movie is wild, part rom-com, part thriller, part fever dream, with some sneaky humor tucked into the madness. But is it brilliant, or just a cinematic cry for help? We’re divided on this one.

Stream it? Skip it? Just Google the trailer and move on? We break it all down so you don’t have to spiral into your own delusional love story.

The Hunting Wives: Scandals, Secrets, & Southern Sass

This week, we’re deep in Texas, where the only thing hotter than the sun is the drama! The Hunting Wives has everything: power plays, dirty politics, messy passion, and a crew of frenemies led by Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman. Think Southern charm meets scandalous secrets... with a side of gunfire.

But here's the million-dollar question: Is this 8-episode rollercoaster worth your binge or just a Texas-sized trainwreck? We’re breaking it all down—the good, the messy, and the real juicy parts.

Tune in for a whole lot of drama, laughs, and heated opinions. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

🎙️ "Freaky Tales" – 1987 Oakland, Pedro Pascal, and Rap Battles? Oh, It’s All Here. 🎬

This week, we're throwing it way back to 1987 and landing in the heart of Oakland, California, where chaos and creativity collide in Freaky Tales. With a stacked cast featuring Pedro Pascal (doing, well… Pedro Pascal things), J. Ellis, Normani, Too $hort, and a ton of wild energy, this film serves up four interconnected stories that are as unpredictable as they are entertaining.

Expect punk rockers throwing down with skinheads, a rap battle that’s pure fire (Too $hort vs. Danger Zone, y’all), and a whole lot of Pedro being Pedro, oh, and did we mention Sleepy Floyd (J. Ellis, not the basketball legend) gets his moment to shine? Yeah, that happens.

🎧 Is it worth the stream? Spoiler: Yes!

But of course, we’ve got thoughts, and some of them are pretty wild.

So grab your headphones, press play, and let’s dive into the madness that is Freaky Tales. You won’t regret it.

🎬 Weapons of Mass Almost-truction: A Mystery Worth Solving… From Your Couch

This week, we’re unpacking Weapons, the latest from Barbarian director Zack Cregger, and things get weird fast. Seventeen kids vanish from one classroom (yes, one), and what follows is a chaotic spiral of mystery, dread, and Josh Brolin brooding like only Josh Brolin can.

With a killer cast including Julia Garner and Benedict Wong, there’s a lot to like, but is it theater-worthy or best enjoyed in sweatpants with snacks that don’t cost $14?

Spoiler: we liked it, but we’ve got thoughts… and popcorn crumbs.

🎬 Together–When Love, Flesh, and Bad Decisions Collide 🍿

Dave Franco and Alison Brie star in Together, a squirmy little body horror flick that asks, “What if moving to the country ruined your relationship AND your epidermis?” We’re diving into this oozy, unsettling tale of love gone moldy to answer the ultimate question: is it worth the price of a theater ticket (or just your sanity)?

Tim and Millie are a couple well past their expiration date, and when a mysterious force starts warping their lives and their flesh, things get... messy. Emotionally and otherwise.

We’ve got thoughts, from the film’s visceral metaphors to its arthouse ambitions, and let’s just say... Together might be better experienced apart. 🧟‍♂️💔

From fresh red boots to a surprisingly idealistic tone, Gunn breathes new life into the last son of Krypton, but not without some controversy. We break down what works, what crashes harder than Zod’s spaceship, and where this Superman lands on the charm scale.

This week, we saddle up our emotional support raptors and take a wild ride through Jurassic World: Rebirth, the latest dino-sized installment in the franchise that just won’t go extinct. 🦖

Are the Easter eggs a clever nod to the original classic, or just a distraction from the dino-sized plot holes? Can a stacked cast save the film from some truly prehistoric acting? And most importantly, how many buckets of popcorn does Rebirth really deserve?

We break down the highs (nostalgic callbacks and glorious dinosaurs) and the lows (did the script go extinct midway through?), all while tackling the eternal question: is this one worth the theater ticket, or should you just stream it in your jammies?
