This week, we watched Borderline, the chaotic, genre-defying directorial debut from Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden, because when you’ve written a movie about a bear on blow, where else do you go but into the mind of a lovesick sociopath?

Ray Nicholson (yes, his last name is what you think it is) stars as Paul, a guy so obsessed with pop star Sofia (Samara Weaving) that he thinks stalking her is a meet-cute. Charming, right?

This movie is wild, part rom-com, part thriller, part fever dream, with some sneaky humor tucked into the madness. But is it brilliant, or just a cinematic cry for help? We’re divided on this one.
