Hey Hello Podcast
Amie Rule | Author | Chronic Pain Advocate

In this episode, I sit down with Amie Rule — writer, practitioner, and advocate for those living with chronic pain and invisible illness. Amie shares her powerful story of growing up with health struggles, how she came to realise that her pain wasn’t just physical, and the deeper connection between trauma, emotional suppression, and the body.

We dive into the gender pain gap and the devastating impact of not being believed, but also the hope and empowerment that comes from reclaiming your voice in a system that often silences it. Amie opens up about her belief that practitioners are guides, not fixers, and why embodiment, emotional well-being, and values-aligned care are so important on the healing journey.

Together, we explore what it means to move from victimhood to ownership, how to find trauma-informed practitioners, and the conscious daily choices that can shift life with chronic illness — without dismissing the very real challenges.

This conversation is deeply compassionate, validating, and empowering. If you’ve ever felt dismissed, exhausted, or unseen in your health journey, Amie’s wisdom will remind you that you are not broken, you are not alone, and you don’t need to be cured to be empowered.

Hey Hello Podcast
Dr Izzy Smith

Get ready for an inspiring conversation with Dr. Izzy Smith,

an accomplished Endocrinologist based in Sydney.

After experiencing burnout following her basic physician exams, Izzy took a year off clinical medicine, a decision that led her to rediscover her passion for health and wellness. During her break, she began writing insightful blogs on Instagram and connecting with fellow health professionals, which ultimately led her to specialise in Endocrinology.

Izzy realised this field was the perfect blend of her love for medicine and her deep interest in the role lifestyle factors—such as exercise, nutrition, and mental health—play in overall well-being. Now working exclusively in private practice, she finds immense joy in helping others achieve better health outcomes.

Izzy opens up about the intersection of physical and mental health, the importance of lifestyle in managing endocrine conditions, and the common misconceptions she encounters in her field. We also explore how endocrine disorders affect men and women differently, and she shares her honest insights on the birth control pill and navigating synthetic hormones. This conversation is raw, insightful, and packed with practical wisdom on medicine, movement, and mental well-being.

Dr Daniel Allen

Daniel Allen is a unique blend of expertise in both clinical psychology and strength and conditioning. With a specialisation in preparing candidates for military and special operations service in New Zealand, Dan’s diverse background makes him a fascinating individual to speak with.

Dan’s journey began with 6 years as a medic in the NZ Army, before he pursued his dream of becoming a professional Muay Thai and MMA athlete. This passion led him to a decade-long commitment to formal training in clinical psychology, further enriching his perspective on human performance.

Throughout his career, Dan has worked with a range of athletes, from Olympians to world-class professionals, and even successful NZSAS candidates. His academic background is equally impressive, including studies in Health Science, Exercise Science, multiple master’s and doctoral programs in psychology, and currently, a 2-year neuropsychology program (to the amusement of his wife!).

Dan’s doctoral research is particularly intriguing, focusing on how to reduce PTSD and promote flourishing in military personnel post-deployment, examining key factors like nutrition, sleep, exercise, social support, and leadership. He’s also worked across various psychological domains, including high-school counseling, addiction services, and private practice.

Above all, Dan has a passion for understanding the intricate relationship between nutrition, psychology, and performance, and how these elements foster resilience. I’m thrilled to have him on the podcast to dive deeper into these topics and learn from his wealth of knowledge and experience.

Living Child Inc. *Live Podcast Event episode *

Sara is the founding CEO of Living Child Inc. She is one of a kind. My conversation with Sara left me humbled. The work she has done is no short of incredible.

In 2020, Sara was made a Member of the Order of Australia for humanitarian work as a midwife. She is a Paul Harris Fellow for humanitarian work and Curtin Alumni Global Impact award winner.

Together, with her team of volunteer Living Child legends, they trek into the remote villages of Papua New Guinea. Where they aim to reduce the maternal and infant death-rate by providing training, visual teaching aids and birthing kits to midwives and Village Birth Attendants working in remote areas.

During our live conversation at the fundraising event for Living Child, Sara explains the difficulties they are facing in PNG while the villages are battling floods. The need for support and funding.

Emotions came out during our conversation while we discussed the depth of what is happening. Giving context to the extent of suffering these women and children have experienced in PNG. The amount of help Sara and the team continue to provide while facing setbacks is astounding.

Hey Hello Podcast
Vacant Beds Initiative

We did a few things differently today, one of those being introductions were at the end of our episode.

Another one being, we discussed topics that we all agree do not get enough of a voice.

Allie Adamson and Liz Behjat are two inspiring women, it was a pleasure to sit and talk with them both.

During this episode I got to see first hand the impact my two guests, Allie and Liz are making for individuals in the aged care sector.

Today’s focus is around the vacant bed initiative that Allie and liz helped launch throughout WA.

If you listen to the end of this episode, you’ll hear more about their personal stories. Plus you will hear Allie and Liz answers my three final questions.
