When the emotion builds up as you get angry and you begin to run out of patience, do you find yourself yelling at your kids? That can seem really scary to them and you may feel bad after. There's a much better way to help your kids learn to be more responsible, respectful and accountable. Be assertive rather than aggressive.
Will counting to 10 calm you down? Will it help you reduce your anger and choose a healthier anger response? Unfortunately, probably not. Not as a calming strategy by itself. In fact, only counting to 10 as a calming strategy will probably make you angrier.
What's happening for you in your head when you get angry? It can be beneficial to understand how your brain and body respond during an angry moment. You can be empowered with tools to meet your needs and the needs of others when you become angry.
What's the #1 cause of your anger? The primary cause of your anger is your thoughts! The lifespan of an emotional charge to your brain and body is only about 90 seconds. It's your thoughts that fuel your anger. Thinking about your thinking is called metacognition. HealthyAngerToolbox.com
