Food, eating, and nutrition are a huge topic of conversation when it comes to fertility. As it should be! But like most things in the fertility world - we are not meant to try and figure everything out ourselves. You are already overwhelmed with the journey itself, so finding support is so important - no one expects you to also be a nutritionist or dietician! People go to school for this and study for years.
So finding practitioners who specialize in fertility becomes very important. And nutrition is a great place to begin.
One other thing that I also think is important is that we are able to not feel stressed around food. Something that is so hard when we’re trying to eat healthy for our fertility.
Today I talk with Becca Romero the founder of Sprout Fertility, an online fertility nutrition clinic.
Becca is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. With a specialized focus on addressing infertility, she offers personalized dietary and lifestyle solutions for women hoping to conceive.
Becca is passionate about helping her clients understand how a healthy diet and lifestyle can enhance fertility in addition to empowering women with knowledge on their menstrual cycle for conception. She is driven by the philosophy that optimal preconception nutrition and lifestyle can shape the well-being of generations to come.
This is what we covered in the episode:
Understanding fertility nutrition
The importance of individualization of diet for fertility
Common diet related issues affecting fertility
Blood Sugar and infertility
Unexplained infertility and diet
The importance of a holistic care team
Getting your partner on board & the change in sperm count

The conversation you’re about to hear is a really special one. If you've ever felt a little lost when trying to make heads or tails of all the holistic and traditional practices that are supportive to fertility, then I think you will find this conversation illuminating.

Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge and perspective to the fertility conversation, especially around holistic support and tradition systems of health and balance. And I love her ethos, which greatly aligns with mine and what Fringe Fertility is ALL about.
Support outside of the doctor's office.
Michelle Oravitz is an acupuncturist, specializing in Fertility Health. She found her love in Chinese medicine after it helped her through her own menstrual cycle challenges.
Michelle has been on a mission to help women get pregnant (naturally and IVF preparation) through her one on one work at her acupuncture clinic as well as online. She recently authored a new book, The Way of Fertility, which dives deep into the energetics of fertility through the lens of ancient wisdom. Michelle believes that our bodies are hardwired to procreate and by connecting to our inherent wisdom, we can awaken our natural reproductive vitality.

Often our first stop on the fertility train is western medicine and the IVF clinic. When getting pregnant takes longer than we thought, or we know of a certain condition that will make pregnancy a little more difficult - we are looking for answers. I believe that support in the clinic and outside of the clinic with mind/body practices can be extremely complimentary.
So then, what do reproductive endocrinologists think about more holistic methods of support for the fertility journey. Well - you’re going to find out in this episode!
I speak with the amazing Dr. Alison Zimon of CCRM New England. We get her professional opinion of mind/body practices and why she encourages her patients to find support outside of her doctor’s office.
Dr. Alison Zimon is the Co-Founder and Co-Medical Director of CCRM Boston. She is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In addition to her role at CCRM Boston, Dr. Zimon is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School and is a Staff Physician in OB/GYN at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Newton Wellesley Hospital.
She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Zimon completed her residency for Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She has many years of experience in IVF treatment, IUI treatment, PCOS treatment, gestational surrogacy, among other areas.

As someone who has supported thousands of people going through IVF, a common conversation that I have is about injections. From not knowing how to do them, if they were measuring the right dosage, or why progesterone in oil hurts so much.
My guest today takes the guess work out of injections in a variety of ways!
Leyla Bilali is the Co-Founder and Chief Clinical Officer at Dandi. Leyla’s unique perspective as both a fertility expert and IVF patient provide her great insight into the type of care that fertility patients so desperately need.
With more than a decade of nursing experience, Leyla started her career as a pediatric nurse before pivoting to the field of reproductive endocrinology. She honed her skills at one of NYC’s top fertility clinics, where she helped thousands of patients. Leyla quickly realized her calling as “The Fertility Fairy Godmother,” and founded her own fertility consulting service, Fertility Together, to provide patients personalized, compassionate care throughout their IVF journey, supporting patients in all the critical moments outside of the clinic.
Here is what we covered: Leyla’s journey from fertility nurse to fertility patient The importance of fertility nurses during IVF The gaps in IVF care All about injections and what patients need to feel confident with administering them Progesterone In Oil shots and why the hurt so damn much The IVF Care Kit at Dandi Fertility How Layla got the name The Fertility Fairy Godmother
